Create with Connie and Mary Blog Challenge – Challenge CCMC400

Colour Challenge Week – Challenge CCMC400

It’s a colour challenge this week over at Create with Connie and Mary.

CCMC400

I have to admit I really haven’t used Delightful Dijon at all in my creations, so I was interested to see what I would come up with for this colour challenge. If you follow my blog, you will have realised I mainly create very clean and simple cards unless I’ve been messing about with water colouring again! I did actually think about doing something with a Lost Lagoon water colour background but discarded that idea in favour of a masculine clean and simple card, which is what this colour scheme makes me personally think of.

No Bones About It from Stampin' Up! Tracy May #CCMC400

I decided on No Bones About it as that is fast becoming one of my go to stamp sets for fun grown up male cards. I started with stamping the triceratops skeleton onto a small piece of Sahara Sand card stock. I then decided to have a strip of Delightful Dijon down the side and thought the dots from Timeless Textures fit the bill perfectly. I stuck the dinosaur image to the card front using the Lost Lagoon tape from the 2014-2016 In Colour Designer Washi tape set.

Finally I took my Lost Lagoon Stampin’ Write Marker and split the sentiment by only colouring in one line at a time, stamping the first half down the side of the dinosaur and the second half along the bottom of the card front.

I thought the card looked a little bland on just a Whisper White card base, but it looks great agains the Sahara Sand.

I do hope you like today’s project. Don’t forget to head on over to the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge blog to see what all the other lovely and talented design team have come up with! Why not give it a try. It is great fun! All the details are on the CCMC page! Good luck if you enter the challenge!

  1. I really love the simplicity of this card especially for an adult.! Fantastic!

  2. I too, do not use Delightful Dijon as much as I should either. I like your simplistic approach to this card. Touches of the colors here and a little there…. all working in harmony!

  3. I don’t use Delightful Dijon much either Tracy as I find it really difficult to work with – I’m taking in lots of inspiration this week! This cute dinosaur does make a great fun adult card – love the washi tape to attach your panel too. Fab card!

  4. I love how colors really pop when they are used minimally, and this is a great design for that! Love the skeleton in white!

  5. I think this is fabulous! I have as hard a time with clean and simple as I do with masculine…lol. Thank you for your inspiration!

  6. Delightful Dijon is a tough color for me too! I like how you used it, simply and cleanly!

  7. Very fun card suitable for a grown-up boy or little boy, too! I love the “fossil” look to the images combined with Timeless Textures! I do appreciate your clean and classy style as I have a hard time with it myself! Great job with the color challenge this week!

  8. Lisa Martz says:
