Summer Silhouettes Shadow Stamping from Stampin’ Up!

Summer Silhouettes Shadow Stamping from Stampin’ Up!

I’ve decided that I need to get back to using some of my lovely stamp sets from the annual catalogue that have been neglected so much of late. So today my project is using Summer Silhouettes from Stampin’ Up! ®. I have had this set for ages and think I have actually only made one other card with it (well two but both were in this post).

I have seen some stunning watercolour backgrounds with an allium created by using just the dandelions from the Balloon Celebration set, like the one on the right in this photo from the Stampin’ Up! Spring/Summer Catalogue.

I wanted something a bit quicker though, so I teamed Summer Silhouettes up with Balloon Celebration and came up with this…

Summer Silhouettes Shadow Stamping from Stampin' Up! Tracy May

I couldn’t quite capture the shimmer of the White Shimmer paper I used for the card front on the photo unfortunately, but it’s lovely in real life.

I masked a strip down the card front using two large Post-It notes, and then sponged with Soft Sky ink to create the background. I then shadow stamped the stem first in Soft SKy and then Night of Navy, repeating the process for the flowers and some of the dandelions “floating” away in the air.

I added some sequins and rhinestones along with the metallic silver thread to jazz it up a bit. Overall I’m quite pleased with the results. I don’t think it’s a wow card though, so the challenge is on to come up with something similar but which stretches my skills and ends up with the wow too! Watch this space! LoL!

Well I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s projects.  Don’t forget the Stampin’ Up! Sale-a-bration promotion finishes at the end of March.
