Balloon Celebration Stampin’ Up! Geometric Watercolour Card

Balloon Celebration Stampin’ Up! ®Geometric Watercolour Card – One Layer Challenge Fail! 😂

Well today’s card was intended for Less is More’s challenge this week where the theme is geometric shapes or patterns! I first thought of the Six Sided Sampler stamp set with all those lovely hexagons but then remembered I had been waiting for some new embossing powder to make the card I have now made! Perfect I thought – the “wheel” from the Balloon Celebration Stampin’ Up! photopolymer set is a geometric shape – WIN!

I had a great time making this card on Saturday night. I poured a glass of wine, got out my versamark and embossing powder, did the stamping onto watercolour paper, then decided to do a rainbow of colours! So glad I have the full Stampin’ Up! set of Stampin’ Write Markers as I used 30 of them! Yes I did say 30! I used 5 shades each of pink, purple, yellow, orange, green and blue!

I sat with my glass of wine, a paint brush, some water and all those markers and coloured in each section of the wheels separately! So peaceful and relaxing! I finished the card off yesterday morning with Soft Sky ink to fill in the background.

I mounted the watercolour panel on to a Smoky Slate card base, stamped and heat embossed the sentiment from Another Thank You – and here is my card! I love it! I love the whole process of this card and I love how it’s turned out! BUT….

I can’t enter it into the Less is More challenge as I failed to read the part that said One Layer Week!!!! FAIL!!! 😂 ha ha ha – never mind, I love the card so much I am sharing it with you anyway!

I may or may not be back with a card for the challenge! I had a productive Friday and Saturday night making enough cards for my blog that could last all week if I don’t get the chance to enter any challenges!

I’ve been playing a guessing game of what will be in the retiring list when it comes out next week. So I have a few projects I’ve made using the 2014 – 2016 In Colors which are of course definitely retiring and I’ve also teamed them up with a stamp set I think may retire – I could of course be entirely wrong and it will carry over. It’s been fun creating with it anyway as it was one of my (ahem… many) sadly under-utilised sets! Check back in the week for those cards plus more!

  1. wow, this is so creative 🙂
haa too bad for the “one layer” though 😉 that’s a tough parameter!

  2. I am so glad you did share it as I LOVE IT, it is so like stained glass and a great use of that stamp which I did not know what to do with! Crafting and wine obviously are a winning combo! xx

  3. I like this one very much, especially as my team had been talking bad about this specific stamp in this set.
They were talking like: it doesn´t fit in the set, what is it all about, acually what is it?

You bring up such a vital and colourful idea, this will convince them.

    Thanks. Nadine

  4. Just found this on Pinterest! Love it !! So glad you shared it!

  5. Gorgeous card! I NEVER knew what this stamp was? So it is a geometric shape to use as we please? Thank you

What do you think?
