Sneak Peek Fabulous Flora from Stampin’ Up! for #GDP036 – CASE the Designer Week

It’s CASE the designer this week, over at Global Design Project. This time it’s the turn of the fabulously talented Paula Dobson from New Zealand! I love Paula’s water coloured and sponged backgrounds – they are awesome! Go check out her blog!

My starting point was the letter layering on Paula’s stunning CASE card, but I was also heavily influenced by some of the other GDP design team’s awesome projects namely Connie Collins,  Teneale Williams and Jessica Williams, who are also all fantastically talented as well! Teneale explained how to do the technique shown on Paula’s card, which I am totally grateful for as I hadn’t quite twigged how to do it and it’s saved me masses of time working it out lol! So thank you Teneale! 😘

I think I have probably seen this technique before and I am sure I have probably seen Paula’s gorgeous CASE card as it feels very familiar, but this is the first time I’ve tried it out and I love it! I had to combine it with water colouring today especially after seeing Connie’s,  Teneale’s and Jessica’s cards this week! I absolutely loved Connie’s water coloured card this week where she’s water-coloured around flowers so I CASED her totally too! Also, I still seem to be in a blue mood – ink colours I mean not in general! Lol! I started off with Soft Sky ink from the refill bottle, then added Pool Party and finally Night of Navy. I used a fair bit of water and mixed the colours on the paper!

I’m planning on using the letter layering technique in my class next week, but I will try it with just stamping rather than water colouring for the class. I’m sure the ladies will love it! I’ll let you know how we get on!

Thanks for playing along with us at Global Design Project this week.

  5. Sorry, commenting a second time. I saw the card and scrolled straight to comment HOW MUCH I LOVED THE CARD (out of excitement) then went back to read the post. I am happy you understand what I had written. It is a fun way to add interest to the card. I love it going through the leaf image. Side note, I did not pre-order any hostess sets but I wish I did, I have seen a few amazing cards using this set.

    • Yes your explanation was great – thank you! I love this set. I have so many ideas I want to try out! Just need another 24 hours in a day though 🙂 x

  6. Tracy, I love how you were inspired by Paula’s card to create this masterpiece. You are always amazing! Thanks for joining us this week at Global Design Project.
