Bold Butterfly Framelits by Stampin’ Up!

It’s challenge time again! Yep it’s Thursday and time for another Create with Connie & Mary Challenge. This week it’s a sketch challenge. For once I found a sketch challenge quite tough. I usually don’t have any bother with them. It may be because my first idea didn’t really work out and being short of time I just went with something else and I’m not entirely happy with today’s card.

There’s nothing at all wrong with the sketch. It’s just me! I used the Subtles Backgroup DSP stack for the squares and the Bold Butterfly Framelits by Stampin’ Up! for the focal image.

I started off trying to use the free SAB Inside the Lines DSP but it just didn’t work, so I teamed the Watermelon Wonder Card front with Soft Sky card stock and the Subtles Background DSP stack. I’m not sure it really works? What do you think?

The butterfly is cut from Watercolor paper onto which I had painted and ombre effect using Watermelon Wonder ink. I think maybe the butterfly isn’t big enough for the size of the card?

Anyway – the bits I do like are the strip of gold glimmer paper and the splatters of gold glitter. These are really easy to do. Simply put a small amount of tombow multi-purpose liquid adhesive onto an acrylic block, mix with some water from your aquapainter and then flick over the card front. Sprinkle over the glitter and then shake of the excess. Leave it to dry somewhere safe i.e. not on your desk where you will end up dumping a load of other things on top before you remember it’s still wet! Lol!

Do pop over and see what the other ladies on the design team have come up with for you this week! It’ll be worth it I promise! They are a talented bunch!

  2. What a nice, fresh color combo! I love the watercolored ombre butterfly….I think the size is just right. The gold splatters are such a cool touch to your card.

  3. I like it. Have you considered adding a small amount of bling to the butterfly?

  4. Oooh, your combination of the boldness of Watermelon Wonder and the softness of Smoky Slate is spot on! Dynamic color combination!

  5. Lisa Martz says:

Great colors! Love that sweet, delicate butterfly poised on top of the Soft Sky papers. I can see this being great for a teen/young woman. Love it.

What do you think?
