Balloon Celebration Stampin’ Up! Geometric Watercolour Card

Balloon Celebration Stampin’ Up! ®Geometric Watercolour Card – One Layer Challenge Fail! 😂

Well today’s card was intended for Less is More’s challenge this week where the theme is geometric shapes or patterns! I first thought of the Six Sided Sampler stamp set with all those lovely hexagons but then remembered I had been waiting for some new embossing powder to make the card I have now made! Perfect I thought – the “wheel” from the Balloon Celebration Stampin’ Up! photopolymer set is a geometric shape – WIN!

I had a great time making this card on Saturday night. I poured a glass of wine, got out my versamark and embossing powder, did the stamping onto watercolour paper, then decided to do a rainbow of colours! So glad I have the full Stampin’ Up! set of Stampin’ Write Markers as I used 30 of them! Yes I did say 30! I used 5 shades each of pink, purple, yellow, orange, green and blue!

I sat with my glass of wine, a paint brush, some water and all those markers and coloured in each section of the wheels separately! So peaceful and relaxing! I finished the card off yesterday morning with Soft Sky ink to fill in the background.

I mounted the watercolour panel on to a Smoky Slate card base, stamped and heat embossed the sentiment from Another Thank You – and here is my card! I love it! I love the whole process of this card and I love how it’s turned out! BUT….

I can’t enter it into the Less is More challenge as I failed to read the part that said One Layer Week!!!! FAIL!!! 😂 ha ha ha – never mind, I love the card so much I am sharing it with you anyway!

I may or may not be back with a card for the challenge! I had a productive Friday and Saturday night making enough cards for my blog that could last all week if I don’t get the chance to enter any challenges!

I’ve been playing a guessing game of what will be in the retiring list when it comes out next week. So I have a few projects I’ve made using the 2014 – 2016 In Colors which are of course definitely retiring and I’ve also teamed them up with a stamp set I think may retire – I could of course be entirely wrong and it will carry over. It’s been fun creating with it anyway as it was one of my (ahem… many) sadly under-utilised sets! Check back in the week for those cards plus more!

Thank You Card using more Stampin’ Up! product #CCMC401

Thank You Card using more Stampin’ Up! product #CCMC401

It’s time for the next challenge over at Create with Connie & Mary. I don’t know where the week has gone – it’s just flown by! Even with the Bedlam Brothers off school! Ha ha ha – they are lovely really! 😉 This week it’s a sketch challenge and I created another thank you card using more Stampin’ Up! product!

CCMC401

I wasn’t really thinking colour scheme when I came up with my card, but I actually love how the colours I ended up with work well together.

Thank You Card using more Stampin' Up! product Tracy May #CCMC401

I started with my embossed (or debossed??) panel for the background. I wanted a subtle background which is why I used the reverse as the polka dots look softer this way. That led me to using Smoky Slate for the next piece and then soft sky for the banner. Once I had those two colours then Daffodil Delight seemed the obvious choice to me. I am using spring like images and colours an awful lot at the moment – maybe I’m trying to single handedly banish winter lol!

The flower is of course from the Botanical Builders Framelits as is the leaf cut using old olive. And finally the sentiment is from my old faithful Another Thank You.

Please do go and check out all the other cards from the wonderful design team and do have a go. It’s great fun – I promise! 😀

Thank You Card using Stampin’ Up! Products

Thank You Card using Stampin’ Up! Products for #GDP030

I said in yesterday’s post I thought I would be chasing my tail this week and I am! Luckily my husband is off though and he took the Bedlam Brothers off for the morning, so I could take a 1-2-1 class and then finish off my card for this week’s Global Design Project Sketch Challenge. It’s another thank you card using Stampin’ Up! products, but you can never have enough thank you cards in my opinion!

Sketch Challenge

It’s a great sketch, this week, but I had problems deciding what to feature i.e. a heart as in the sketch, flower, butterfly, balloon…. All the design team have covered them all so beautifully, I didn’t quite know which way to turn! In the end I settled on a butterfly. I think because the sun is shining and spring is now a distinct possibility and that brings butterflies to my mind (ok,…. yeah….. flowers would have been a more obvious choice! Lol!)

Bizarrely the green in the sketch also reminded me a bit of Mint Macaron, so I chose that as one of my base colours, along with Tip Top Taupe and Watermelon Wonder for the water coloured butterfly cut using the Bold Butterfly Framelits.

I’m going to try and get better organised tonight once the Bedlam Brothers are in bed, and finish up the rest of my blog posts for this week, so I can enjoy the rest of their school holiday with them…..well that’s the plan anyway! 😁

I hope you like today’s project. It should have been quick but I gave up on trying last night and tackled it again after my class this morning was over. Turned out well in the end though didn’t it? 👍

Fluttering Embossing Folder from Stampin’ Up!

Thank You Card using Fluttering Embossing Folder from Stampin’ Up!

Last week, when I was creating my first project for the Create with Connie and Mary blog challenge, I also came up with the card below. I do tend to end up making two or three projects at the same time sometimes. It’s hardly surprising that my craft room ends up looking a complete mess all the time! lol!

I embossed a panel of water colour card with the Fluttering Embossing folder from Stampin’ Up! ® and soaked it with water on what I call the reverse side – i.e. the side that is debossed or indented! . I then took the Soft Sky, Pool Party and Marina Mist refill ink bottles and dropped a few drops of each in lines along the width of the card, starting with Soft Sky and ending with Marina Mist to create an ombre effect. I picked up the card stock and tilted it this way and that to get the ink to cover it all and then laid if flat to dry. You can see where the ink pooled in some of the butterflies, which I really like.

I used up the rest of the strip of Silver Glimmer paper I had used on the Connie and Mary card, and then spent an age uhmming and ahhing over what colour butterfly to add to the top. In the end I settled on Whisper White, as I felt it fit the softness of the water coloured background best.

What do you think? I hope you like it?

Thank You Card for #GDP029

Thank You Card for  Global Design Project Colour Challenge #GDP029

Stampin' Up! Spring/Summer 2016 Catalogue - SAB

So it’s colour challenge week over at Global Design Project, this week. The colours are Bermuda Bay, Tangelo Twist and Early Espresso. I love blue and orange together – no problemo! Add dark brown to the mix…. hmmm. I played it safe and just added a panel of Early Espresso behind my card front. You can’t see much of it and it looks more like black in the photo, but it is Early Espresso – trust me!! Lol!

Insert graphic here

I’ve been wanting to get Garden in Bloom out for a play for ages and today’s card was the perfect opportunity. I stamped the outline flower in Bermuda Bay and added a splodge of Tangelo Twist to the flower center. I think I used the stamp that is meant to fill in the bee – I was in a rush. It’s the Easter holidays here and so the Bedlam Brothers are off, leaving a trail of chaos and bedlam in their wake! 😬

Garden In Bloom from Stampin' Up! Tracy May #GDP029

I also stamped the outline of the smaller flower in Tangelo Twist in between the larger flower. I finished off with a sentiment from Another Thank You stamped in White StazOn. I would ordinarily have used White embossing powder but somehow mine got red glitter in it. I don’t know where from as I don’t have any red glitter and I didn’t think the red would go with Tangelo Twist! 😃

What do you think?

Well I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s projects.  Don’t forget the Stampin’ Up! Sale-a-bration promotion finishes on Thursday 31st March.

Another Thank You from Stampin’ Up!

Another Thank You from Stampin’ Up! – Online Code Club Thank You Cards and Gifts

Another Thank You from Stampin’ Up! I think is my most used stamp set. I love this stamp set, for I am forever making thank you cards and there are six Thank You or Thanks stamps in the set. I make all my customers thank you cards no matter how small or large the order, everyone gets them!

Today’s projects are the matching thank you and gift packaging I made and sent out to my online customers who used my Monthly gift club code in February. And today’s post is extra exciting as I am adding this post to the super lovely Kylie Bertucci’s International Blog Highlights competition!
Another Thank You from Stampin' Up! Tracy May Bedlam & Butterflies

I started by mixing some inks on a palette tray and adding water. I used various yellows, blues, oranges and pinks and then water coloured a couple of pieces of watercolour card stock. Whilst the water colour paper dried, I masked a card front with my home made circle mask (I used the Circle framelits to cut a circle out of the middle of a piece of window sheet so I can reuse the mask) and then covered the circle with Soft Sky ink using a piece of sponge – any ink blending tool will do! Then I stamped over the middle with the Thank You from Another Thank You from Stampin’ Up! in Pool Party.

Another Thank You from Stampin' Up! Tracy May Bedlam & Butterflies

Once the water colour paper was dry, I cut out the butterflies using the Elegant Butterfly and Bitty Butterfly punches. The next step was to add the Linen thread around the middle of the butterflies. I separated the strands of the thread as I wanted to keep it very thin.

Another Thank You from Stampin' Up! Tracy May Bedlam & Butterflies

I then stuck the butterflies to the front of the card bases and cut out some of the circles and added them to the front of glassine gift bags along with the butterflies. I loved the effect of the butterflies “flying” in an arc up the front of the cards and the gift bags! What do you think?

All the gifts have been packaged up and sent out now!

Square Pillow Box Thinlits Dies from Stampin’ Up! – A Thank You Gift

Square Pillow Box Thinlits Dies from Stampin’ Up!  – A Thank You Gift

It seems like such a long time ago, that I held a kit card class on a Saturday morning, but it was only about a month ago in reality. There were only a few of us but we had a great time chatting and crafting. I made the ladies a thank you gift for taking the class.

I love the Square Pillow Box Thinlits Dies from Stampin’ Up! It’s a keeper that’s for sure. I’ve been using it a lot, as you may have noticed, if you follow my blog. I’ve not even gotten around to any of the Christmas project ideas I have for it yet either! Watch this space! 🙂

Stampin' Up! Square Pillow Box Thinlits Dies - Thank You Gift Ideas Tracy May

Would you believe it’s the first time I’ve used the Corrugated Paper, even though it was on my first order in July when the annual catalogue went live? Oh and the Cotton Paper I used to make the flower, I bought on the preorder in June! Thinking about it, there’s a few other bits and bobs I have bought but never used. Do you do that? I don’t think I’m the only one who does that… am I? Noooo surely not! 🙂

I love the pop of colour the flower brings to the project!

p.s. I filled the box with Lindt Chocolates – yum yum! They were very much appreciated by the ladies!

Global Design Project Sketch Challenge #GDP006 – Lighthearted Leaves from Stampin’ Up!

Global Design Project Sketch Challenge #GDP006 – Lighthearted Leaves from Stampin’ Up!

I’ve been itching to play around with the Lighthearted Leaves from Stampin’ Up! again. I know, I know, I only posted a card using it on Monday! I’m on catch up! I had so many ideas waiting for this stamp set to arrive. I scribbled (literally) some of them down and now I’m trying to decipher what I wrote/sketched out! Lol! Luckily the Global Design Project Sketch Challenge #GDP006 has provided the perfect opportunity for me. I instantly thought of this set when I saw the sketch on Monday. I snatched a moment yesterday to play – this was my first idea…..

I wasn’t really sure I liked it though. I thought it needed to be more colourful but in a muted way! So I tried this….

Now I really like the first one and I can’t put my finger on why! It’s bugging me a bit! I think I will do the Smoky Slate version in my class this month. Or maybe I’ll try it in Real Red (just a thought). What do you think? Which one do you prefer? Or what colour would you try?

Don’t forget about this week’s deals. The number of items has been limited for a period to avoid backlog situations from arising. Still some good deals to be had though! And funnily enough I was planning on making a card with Six Sided Sampler as I haven’t used it in a fair while!

Rainbow Flower Shop from Stampin’ Up!

A brightly coloured rainbow of flowers using Flower Shop from Stampin’ Up!

Morning peeps, how’s you? I’m back today with a very quick post, although I keep having to break in writing it, to chivvy the boys along on tidying up their playroom, so it’s not that quick really. Seriously I could have tidied the playroom ten times myself by now, but I’m trying to teach them not to pull every single toy out and just dump it on the floor. I think I may be fighting a losing battle!

I got out my old alcohol markers the other day and sorted them out. I thought one of the flowers from  Flower Shop from Stampin’ Up! would be perfect to practice with. I stamped on two sticky notes to create masks so I could overlap the flowers.  I love the bold, bright colours don’t you? I decided on the colour scheme from the children’s rainbow song – red and yellow and pink and green….

What do you think?

By the way, Whisper White card stock is great with alcohol markers. I hope Stampin’ Up! bring out some new alcohol markers soon.

Well that’s it for today. Hope you liked the project. Thanks for stopping by. Before you go why don’t you check out the weekly deals?
