Butterflies Thinlits by Stamping’ Up!

Butterflies Thinlits by Stamping’ Up! #CCMC451

Hellooooo! Yes it’s Thursday again and time for a sketch challenge over at Create with Connie & Mary! Today I’m using the Butterfly Thinlits by Stamping’ Up! Why? Well the sun was shining when I made this card. And the weather is warming up….. so spring is on the way which makes me think butterflies!

So I’m really pleased with the way my card has turned out today. And I think it’s just so clean and simple and the colours really pop! The simple colour scheme was dictated by my choice of DSP. I really wanted to use up some of my Pop of Pink DSP, which consists of black, white, pink and a touch of gold!

The black and white striped panel for the background is really striking. And the contrasting Melon Mambo butterfly really pops don’t you think? As I wanted to keep the card simple, I opted for the flowers from Awesomely Artistic, instead of a strip of DSP behind the main embellishment. I was inspired by a card I saw by Krista Driessen on her blog ZoKriss. Isn’t Krista awesomely talented? I really like her style.

Talking of style, why don’t you pop along to see what the rest of the lovely design team have made to inspire you today. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed!

Awesomely Artistic from Stampin’ Up!

Awesomely Artistic from Stampin’ Up! is a fantastic stamp set that I haven’t really used as much as I should have to be honest. I’ve played around with it now and again though and I thought the other night whilst I was messing around with some watercolour backgrounds it was the perfect time to get it out again.

I actually love how this card turned out – unusual for me as I am always so critical of my cards.

I decided to stamp some of the splats from Awesomely Artistic over the top of the watercolour background and then to stamp the dragon fly as well. I stamped the dragonfly separately onto a scrap of water colour paper, cut it out and popped it up on Stampin’ Dimensionals cut to size.

The sentiment has been stamped on vellum which I think softens the look – what do you think? Like it? I hope so!

Less is More – Green & Blue

Less is More challenge – Green & Blue

I’m back today with a very clean and simple card for the Less is More Green & Blue Challenge. I haven’t had a proper play with the Awesomely Artistic from Stampin’ Up! for quite some time and thought it was a great opportunity to get the stamp set out and play. Try as I might though I couldn’t get my original idea of using the dragonfly image over the flowers. No idea why it wouldn’t work but it just didn’t! I’ll keep playing though and see what happens. In the meantime, having ditched the dragonfly for now, here’s my card.

What do you think? Certainly Less is More with all that lovely white space don’t you think?

I added some Candy Dots from the Brights Collection to match the Tempting Turquoise/Old Olive colour scheme. Maybe it needs some bling instead?

I do love these flowers though. They’re very pretty. I’m going to play around with the colour combination though as I think it would look more striking in black and red or black and purple maybe?

Well better dash. I’ve got yoga this morning – I’m trying to get back into diet/fitness mode – probably not the best thing just before Christmas, but I suppose you could call it damage limitation lol!

BIrthday Blooms from Stampin’ Up!

Birthday Blooms from Stampin’ Up!

Spoiler Alert – Sneak peek from the new 2016 Spring/Summer catalogue!

I came back from Stampin’ Up!® OnStage Live in Brussels, the other week, armed with a trio of brand new stamp sets from the upcoming 2016 Spring/Summer Catalogue. I have to say there is so much in there that I would like and I can’t wait for the full demonstrator pre-order period which begins on 4th December. What a perk – hey? In the meantime, I’m getting my crafting kicks with the current Autumn/Winter catalogue goodies and a little play with one of my new sets. So without further ado – may I introduce you to Birthday Blooms from Stampin’ Up! 🙂

Birthday Blooms from Stampin' Up!, Tracy May, 2016 Spring/Summer Catalogue Sneak Peek

I cased this card both from Steffi Helmschrott and Chantal de Kaste. I love both these ladies styles. They are both superbly talented, which is recognised by the fact that they are now both members of the 2015/2016 Artisan Design Team!

I stamped the flower from Birthday Blooms in Versamark on to White Shimmer card and heat embossed with white embossing powder, before watercolouring! I lightly embossed the Crumb Cake card front after stamping an image from Awesomely Artistic also in crumb cake. See my light embossing technique here!

I pulled out all the stops and dusted off the sewing machine too! What do you think? I think it’s extremely pretty – but I am biased! Lol!

Well that’s it for now – thanks for stopping by! If you would like any of the products used and are happy to shop with me, simply click on the table below and you will be taken to my online shop, don’t forget to enter the code shown below and on the side bar for your free gift. Awesomely Artistic from Stampin’ Up!

Clean and simple greetings card using Awesomely Artistic from Stampin’ Up!

Hello everyone. How was your weekend? I’m a bit late today and I missed the deadline for the CASology Wings challenge that I was going to enter today’s card into 🙁

Nevermind, I thought I would still share the cards I made with you anyway. I was playing around with my watercolour marker pens trying to create a background for this gorgeous dragonfly from Awesomely Artistic from Stampin’ Up!. I didn’t like the results and have decided the markers don’t work well for that. What they DO work well for though is colouring on to the stamps and then spritzing with water for that watercolour effect.

What do you think?
