Best Birds by Stamping’ Up!

Best Birds by Stamping’ Up!

Hello again. I’m back with another create for the Create with Connie & Mary blog challenge. This week it’s a sketch challenge. I find these easier than the colour challenges but I do like to not always be too literal in following the sketch. So this week, I’ve gone for a bird from Best Birds by Stampin’ Up!,  instead of flowers, as my main image.

Best Birds by Stampin' Up! Tracy May #CCMC457

I started with the embossed panel instead of a piece of DSP. Then I added the branch, which I had left over from a previous project. I stamped the bird in Basic Black Archival ink onto watercolour paper before colouring with ink and an aqua-painter. The base colour of the breast is So Saffron followed by Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip and Early Espresso. I worked in layers, building up from light to dark and blended using the aqua painter.

The sentiment is from Balloon Celebration. A while ago I had been making a birthday card using Basic Black with a white sentiment and decided it would be handy to have a bunch ready to go. So, I stamped about a dozen at the sane time and embossed with white embossing powder. I cut them up into banners but left both ends longer so I can change whether they point to the left or the right depending on the card I am making.

I love the way the card has turned out especially with the Soft Sky card base.

So what do you think? I hope you like it. Please do pop along and see what the rest of the design team have made for you this week!

Look at the beautiful colours for this week’s colour challenge over at Create with Connie & Mary! I didn’t think I would struggle so much with these colours when I first saw them! BUT oh boy did I ever!! I had planned my card out in advance as I sometimes do but when I actually made it, I hated it! It just didn’t work! In fact my first three attempts all ended up in the bin!

In the end I actually CASEd myself using Balloon Celebration by Stampin’ Up!  I had this card out on my desk for some reason and it inspired the card I’m posting today!

Balloon Celebration by Stampin' Up! Tracy May #CCMC428

Originally I was going to cut out a butterfly but changed my mind last minute and I cut out the cute little bird from Birds & Blooms instead.  I actually am so pleased with how the card turned out in the end. Just to show how I used the colours, I stamped the allium in Pool Party and the bubbles/ink splats in Pear Pizazz.

The bird is cut out of watercolour paper which I had painted with Sweet Sugarplum ink and an aqua painter! I also stamped the sentiment in Sweet Sugarplum and then mounted the card front onto a Pool Party card base.

So what do you think? Please do pop over to the Create with Connie & Mary challenge blog to see all the lovely cards the rest of the design team have come up with!

Before I go, I just wanted to say thank you to whoever placed an order recently using my monthly code club but checked out either as a guest or ticked the No Contact check box on the order. I did not receive your details such as name and address. Stampin’ Up! can not pass me your details as this is against UK data protection laws. This means I am unable to send you your gift. Balloon Celebration Stampin’ Up! Geometric Watercolour Card

Balloon Celebration Stampin’ Up! ®Geometric Watercolour Card – One Layer Challenge Fail! 😂

Well today’s card was intended for Less is More’s challenge this week where the theme is geometric shapes or patterns! I first thought of the Six Sided Sampler stamp set with all those lovely hexagons but then remembered I had been waiting for some new embossing powder to make the card I have now made! Perfect I thought – the “wheel” from the Balloon Celebration Stampin’ Up! photopolymer set is a geometric shape – WIN!

I had a great time making this card on Saturday night. I poured a glass of wine, got out my versamark and embossing powder, did the stamping onto watercolour paper, then decided to do a rainbow of colours! So glad I have the full Stampin’ Up! set of Stampin’ Write Markers as I used 30 of them! Yes I did say 30! I used 5 shades each of pink, purple, yellow, orange, green and blue!

I sat with my glass of wine, a paint brush, some water and all those markers and coloured in each section of the wheels separately! So peaceful and relaxing! I finished the card off yesterday morning with Soft Sky ink to fill in the background.

I mounted the watercolour panel on to a Smoky Slate card base, stamped and heat embossed the sentiment from Another Thank You – and here is my card! I love it! I love the whole process of this card and I love how it’s turned out! BUT….

I can’t enter it into the Less is More challenge as I failed to read the part that said One Layer Week!!!! FAIL!!! 😂 ha ha ha – never mind, I love the card so much I am sharing it with you anyway!

I may or may not be back with a card for the challenge! I had a productive Friday and Saturday night making enough cards for my blog that could last all week if I don’t get the chance to enter any challenges!

I’ve been playing a guessing game of what will be in the retiring list when it comes out next week. So I have a few projects I’ve made using the 2014 – 2016 In Colors which are of course definitely retiring and I’ve also teamed them up with a stamp set I think may retire – I could of course be entirely wrong and it will carry over. It’s been fun creating with it anyway as it was one of my (ahem… many) sadly under-utilised sets! Check back in the week for those cards plus more!

Thank You Card using Stampin’ Up! Products

Thank You Card using Stampin’ Up! Products for #GDP030

I said in yesterday’s post I thought I would be chasing my tail this week and I am! Luckily my husband is off though and he took the Bedlam Brothers off for the morning, so I could take a 1-2-1 class and then finish off my card for this week’s Global Design Project Sketch Challenge. It’s another thank you card using Stampin’ Up! products, but you can never have enough thank you cards in my opinion!

Sketch Challenge

It’s a great sketch, this week, but I had problems deciding what to feature i.e. a heart as in the sketch, flower, butterfly, balloon…. All the design team have covered them all so beautifully, I didn’t quite know which way to turn! In the end I settled on a butterfly. I think because the sun is shining and spring is now a distinct possibility and that brings butterflies to my mind (ok,…. yeah….. flowers would have been a more obvious choice! Lol!)

Bizarrely the green in the sketch also reminded me a bit of Mint Macaron, so I chose that as one of my base colours, along with Tip Top Taupe and Watermelon Wonder for the water coloured butterfly cut using the Bold Butterfly Framelits.

I’m going to try and get better organised tonight once the Bedlam Brothers are in bed, and finish up the rest of my blog posts for this week, so I can enjoy the rest of their school holiday with them…..well that’s the plan anyway! 😁

I hope you like today’s project. It should have been quick but I gave up on trying last night and tackled it again after my class this morning was over. Turned out well in the end though didn’t it? 👍

Balloon Celebration from Stampin' Up! UK Demonstrator Tracy May #GDP023

I’m back today with another super quick card I made using Balloon Celebration from Stampin’ Up! I’m entering this card in to the Global Design Project Balloon themed challenge #GDP023.

GDP023

I had two little helpers for this card one of my sons and another little boy I am looking after today. They told me where the balloons should go and whether the sentiment looked better in black on white card or white on black card. Luckily I agreed with all their design choices lol!

Balloon Celebration from Stampin' Up! UK Demonstrator Tracy May #GDP023

I did a really quick watercolour background using a pool party re-inker. I dropped some ink directly onto and acrylic block and used a wet paintbrush to pick up the ink and painted it on to the watercolour paper. I dried it with my heat gun, before stamping the dandy lions or aliums, also from Balloon Celebration, in Versamark and heat embossing with white embossing powder.

The balloons are punched out of watercolour paper, painted with Real Red ink and then stamped over using the detail stamps from Balloon Celebration. I finished the card off with white and clear sequins. It really was a quick card. I hope you like it!

Happy New Year Card Softly Falling & Balloon Celebration from Stampin' Up! Tracy May

I’ve used Softly Falling & Balloon Celebration to create my New Year’s card. I love how simple the card looks but with a touch of bling for the celebration theme. Balloon Celebration will be available from January 5th – next Tuesday so not long to go now.

In the meantime, there’s still time to get hold of the retiring items from the Autumn/Winter catalogue and some of them are greatly reduced too. Check out the big year end sale!

Let me know if you aren’t on my catalogue mailing list but would like to be (UK, NL, DE, FR, AT only I’m afraid).

Balloon Celebration by Stampin’ Up! – another sneak peek

Balloon Celebration by Stampin’ Up! – another sneak peek

I’m back with project two using Balloon Celebration by Stampin’ Up! this week. Again I am going to be entering the Global Design Project #GDP015, whose theme is celebrate and also Retro Sketches again, as I used their sketch for the second time.

Balloon Celebration by Stampin' Up! with Birthday Bouquet DSP by Tracy May

Balloon Celebration by Stampin’ Up! is definitely becoming a firm favourite and I love that you can create different looks just by changing colour and layout. This card is much softer and more subtle than the one I created on Monday, don’t you think?

Balloon Celebration by Stampin' Up! with Birthday Bouquet DSP by Tracy May

I teamed the set up with the new Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper and coordinating Honeycomb Embellishments and took the colour scheme from those. You can just see a shimmer on the wooden sentiment, which I created using the clear Wink of Stella pen, also coming soon. I’m really spoiling you with all the sneak peeks on this card aren’t I?  😊

Let me know if you aren’t on my catalogue mailing list but would like to be (UK, NL, DE, FR, AT only I’m afraid). I will send out catalogues between Christmas and New Year, so there will be plenty of time to have a good thumb through and get those wish lists written!

I still have a few Christmas projects to complete and I will share those if you aren’t all fed up with Christmas already but oh joy, oh joy, oh joy! The Christmas cards are all done! Bar one or two I’ve no doubt forgotten – I usually do as I have a few separate lists kept in separate places and formats. I really should consolidate but that would be bordering on organised, which I’ve never been on a personal front. Professionally I used to be very organised, as a Project Manager, so maybe that is why I rebelled in my personal life and went with ad hoc or spontaneous as I like to call it (in reality totally disorganised and scatty would be a better description)! 😆

Well that’s it from me today. See you tomorrow!

Balloon Celebration by Stampin’ Up! – #GDP015

Balloon Celebration by Stampin’ Up! – Celebration card for Global Design Project Celebration Challenge #GDP015

I’m back on the challenge merry go round this week, entering #GDP015, with this celebration card using Balloon Celebration by Stampin’ Up! from the upcoming new Spring/Summer 2016 Catalogue.

I just couldn’t resist this stamp set and matching punch combination when I first saw it and remarkably it has sat untouched on my shelf since it arrived last week in my pre-order. I have been itching to use it, but have resisted (until now) as I am still desperately trying to finish off Christmas craft projects before it’s too late.  Just look at that balloon punch out! What do you think?

AWESOME??!!!

Balloon Celebration by Stampin' Up! UK Demonstrator Tracy May

I love, love, love, it!! I was toying with making this a New Year’s card by adding 2016 to it, but decided against doing so, as the card can be used for any celebration now! Besides I already have a card in my head for New Year’s. It just needs to get out of my head and on to paper!

Balloon Celebration by Stampin' Up! UK Demonstrator Tracy May

I did a quick wash of Real Red ink on to Watercolour paper and dried it with my heat tool, before stamping the pattern on to the balloon (also in Real Red) and punching the balloon out. The little splatters around the edges are from an awesome new set that will be a perfect partner to Gorgeous Grunge – it’s called Timeless Textures and you can be sure you’ll be seeing as much of that stamp set on my blog as you do Gorgeous Grunge!

Give me more time and I’ll have more projects to share with you using Balloon Celebrations by Stampin’ Up! and the matching punch.  Both of which will be available to order from January 5th. Let me know if you aren’t on my catalogue mailing list but would like to be (UK, NL, DE, FR, AT only I’m afraid).
