Be the Star from Stampin’ Up! for #GDP026 Sketch Challenge

Stampin' Up! Spring/Summer 2016 Catalogue - SAB

Be The Star from Stampin’ Up! is a well loved old favourite of mine, which has certainly been neglected of late, as I’ve been playing with all my shiny new stamp sets from the Spring/Summer 2016 Catalogue. I thought it was about time, it got dusted off and given the chance to shine again and the sketch for this week’s Global Design Project challenge fits the bill perfectly.

I decided Gorgeous Grunge was also required and once the stamp sets had been selected, I turned my thoughts to colours. I decided my brain was far too fuddled today with my cold, so a quick search on Pinterest and the the colour scheme was settled on – click here for the pin!

Pinkies Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalogue 2014/15 Blog Hop

Thank you for joining us on another Pinkies Blog Hop! We’re showcasing lots of gorgeous projects using products from the new Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalogue. Simply use the buttons at the end of each post to keep hopping!

As well as celebrating the arrival of the new annual catalogue, we’ve been preparing for the school holidays, making gifts for playgroup helpers and school teachers. Today’s project is the gift I made for my youngest son’s playgroup helpers.
I knew that I wanted to make them a gift box with the Kraft card stock in the style of a christmas cracker to house a glass tea light/candle holder, but I was undecided between the Kinda Eclectic stamp set and the Be a Star set as the theme for the box and thank you card. That was until I made a prototype. The answer just jumped out at me as I was playing around with closing the opening of the box. I think you will see why from the pictures below.

As I was pinching the mid section of the box, a star shape formed at the top. All I had to do was to manipulate it a little bit and pinch the card stock for the shape to remain in place. I decorated the box with the new star mask from the Hearts and Stars Decorative Mask set with VersaMark ink and white embossing powder. The star shaped tag is made using the new Stars Framelits and the initials are from the Little Letters framelits. I used Gold Baker’s Twine to keep the box closed with some Gold Sequin trim to finish it off.

I made a card to co-ordinate, using the little stars from the Be the Star set as well as one of the mid-size stars. I used the new Eclectic Paper Piercing set to pierce the white star and the outline of the star around it.

I just love that Stampin’ Up! designs so many co-ordinating products!

So what do you think? I think I have accidentally created the design for my Christmas cards too! A different colour scheme and sentiment stamp but the design could easily be very Christmassy!

So next stop is Sarah’s blog, why don’t you go and take a peek at what she has been up to? Thanks for stopping by……..
