Birthday Blooms by Stampin’ Up! #CCMC430

ccmc430

Yay it’s Thursday again and time for another challenge from Create with Connie & Mary. This week it’s a colour challenge. Challenge being the operative word! These seemingly innocent colours had me stumped at first. They just scream of the current season I think, because my first instinct was to go with the season. I was trying to come up with something using Spooky Fun and whilst I could have come up with lots of options, Hallowe’en, Thanksgiving, Autumn/Fall (it’s such a versatile set when combined with theHalloween Scenes edgelits) they had all seemed to have been done before. So I pumped for Birthday Blooms by Stampin’ Up! instead.

And whilst the card I’m posting today isn’t the most original of designs, it is out of season (for my part of the world anyway) and that’s ok with me! Rebel without a clue! Lol!

I really don’t suppose you get purple and orange flowers on the same plant in nature and that may be the reason why I half like this card and  half don’t! What do you think? At first I thought it might just be because it was a little dark whilst the ink was wet. I used a blender pen and ink picked up from the Stampin’ Ink pads to colour it in. I then went over it with the clear Wink of Stella pen.

Does it just look slightly unnatural and therefore a little off – or does it not really matter? Artistic licence and all that?? I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on this!

Please do pop along and see what the rest of the vastly talented design team have come up with this week at Create with Connie & Mary! Thanks for stopping by!

Birthday Blooms Sketch Card #FMS226

Birthday Blooms – a Sketch Card for Freshly Made Sketches #FMS226

Stampin' Up! Spring/Summer 2016 Catalogue - SAB

I’m back today with another card using Birthday Blooms from Stampin’ Up!, which I’m entering in to the Freshly Made Sketches #fms226 challenge this week. I’m sneaking in with a last minute entry I think, as the challenge closes today.

FMS Final 226-001

When I was making these Mother’s Day cards that I posted the other week, I also coloured an extra flower and fussy cut it. It’s been languishing in the unfinished projects baskets ever since. But as soon as I saw the sketch on Freshly Made Sketches, I knew it had found a home!

I didn’t like the way the flower looked at the top, so I changed the sketch slightly so it’s at the bottom and I think it looks much better there. Fussy me – I know! Lol!

Don’t forget Sale-a-bration ends this month. There are some new gifts to choose from too as well as all the other luscious products that are still available.

Mother’s Day Cards using Birthday Blooms

Mother’s Day Cards using Birthday Blooms from Stampin’ Up!®

I’m having one of those days today where I’m trying to do too many things at the same time and so achieving absolutely nothing! Do you have those sorts of days too? Surely it can’t just be me? Or can it? Lol!  Ok so I have stopped trying to do everything and finally concentrated on completing today’s Mother’s Day cards for you! It’s Mother’s Day in the UK in a couple of weeks – everything seems to be early this year!

I had them all coloured and ready and waiting to be assembled this morning but that has now taken two hours! Note to self: be more organised and/or don’t start something else until you’ve finished what you’re in the middle of! 😜

I used my alcohol markers to colour both of these cards on Whisper White, which is perfect for this type of colouring! Since starting the coloured pencil course, I’ve really slowed down with my colouring in general and started thinking about where I am putting colour instead of being in a rush to finish quickly.

It’s by no means perfect but it’s starting to show signs of improvement, although it’s completely different colouring with marker pens than coloured pencils, I find. I did try out a technique I saw on this YouTube tutorial and I varied the type of stroke I used on each card.

I think I prefer the way the pink one is coloured, although I love the purple colour scheme on the other one. What do you think?

Birthday Blooms Stampin’ Up! Envelope Punch Board Gift Box

Birthday Blooms Stampin’ Up! Envelope Punch Board Gift Box

New Stampin' Up! Catalogue and Sale-a-bration

I’m back today with a project that was inspired by Pootles aka Sam Donald. She had posted a very pretty pink gift box (which you can see here) using Birthday Blooms to decorate it. I decided to use the Stampin’ Up! Envelope Punch Board to make my box. It’s really quick and easy and I will have a video for you next week with a different stamp set and colour scheme and all the measurements etc. The box is specifically sized for a box of Rose and Violet flavoured chocolates, that I was sending to a lovely friend of mine.

The gift box is made out of the Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack. I used the silvery polka dot print. Then layered a piece of Smoky Slate Card stock over what would have been the back, if it were an envelope.

The flower from Birthday Blooms is stamped in Smoky Slate onto Shimmery White Card stock. I added the strips of Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper – which is gorgeous – and stamped some pink flowers to add a touch of colour.

What do you think? I love it, but then I would, wouldn’t I? Lol! But more importantly my friend loved it too!

One of the best things for me about being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, is the people you meet. I would not have met my lovely friend, if it weren’t for Stampin’ Up! I am part of a team of wonderful, warm, friendly and fun people.

As well as the face-to-face-occasions for get togethers meeting up in the virtual world is so easy in today’s technology and I love that I can interact with people in different countries both in Europe and often over the other side of the world to me.

If this sounds like something you would like to be a part of, and you are interested in signing up as a Demonstrator, I would love to welcome you to my growing team!

You can become a demonstrator for just 129 €/£99 and choose a whopping 220 € / £160 worth of product for your Starter Kit. Plus, the kit ships for free!

BIrthday Blooms from Stampin’ Up!

Birthday Blooms from Stampin’ Up!

Spoiler Alert – Sneak peek from the new 2016 Spring/Summer catalogue!

I came back from Stampin’ Up!® OnStage Live in Brussels, the other week, armed with a trio of brand new stamp sets from the upcoming 2016 Spring/Summer Catalogue. I have to say there is so much in there that I would like and I can’t wait for the full demonstrator pre-order period which begins on 4th December. What a perk – hey? In the meantime, I’m getting my crafting kicks with the current Autumn/Winter catalogue goodies and a little play with one of my new sets. So without further ado – may I introduce you to Birthday Blooms from Stampin’ Up! 🙂

Birthday Blooms from Stampin' Up!, Tracy May, 2016 Spring/Summer Catalogue Sneak Peek

I cased this card both from Steffi Helmschrott and Chantal de Kaste. I love both these ladies styles. They are both superbly talented, which is recognised by the fact that they are now both members of the 2015/2016 Artisan Design Team!

I stamped the flower from Birthday Blooms in Versamark on to White Shimmer card and heat embossed with white embossing powder, before watercolouring! I lightly embossed the Crumb Cake card front after stamping an image from Awesomely Artistic also in crumb cake. See my light embossing technique here!

I pulled out all the stops and dusted off the sewing machine too! What do you think? I think it’s extremely pretty – but I am biased! Lol!

Well that’s it for now – thanks for stopping by! If you would like any of the products used and are happy to shop with me, simply click on the table below and you will be taken to my online shop, don’t forget to enter the code shown below and on the side bar for your free gift.
