A Brick Wall & Butterfly by Stampin’ Up!

A Brick Wall & Butterfly by Stampin’ Up!

Welcome back to Create with Connie & Mary’s Thursday challenges. This month we are CASEing the catalogue. To CASE is to Copy and Share Everything! We can either CASE the colour scheme or layout of selected pictures from the new catalogue which goes live globally today, 1st June 2017!

So what do you think? Fancy playing along? It’s great fun!

I chose to CASE the layout for my project today. Well you know me and my aversion to colour challenges! Lol!

After various false starts, I settled back to my roots with a butterfly! I teamed up the Butterfly Thinlits with the Brick Wall embossing folder for the focal elements hence a Brick Wall & a Butterfly by Stampin’ Up! And I also wanted to use some of the lovely new in-colours. Fresh Fig and Lemon Lime Twist go so well together don’t you think? Also they go so well with the silver elements in my card.

I ran a brayer loaded with Crumb Cake ink over the raised lines in the Brick Wall embossing folder before running through my Big Shot. I love that it makes the brick pattern stand out more on the Whisper White card stock.

The small butterflies are stamped using the Watercolour Wings stamp set. The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Sentiments and fits perfectly under the large butterfly.  Finally I finished the card off with some Silver 1/8″ Ribbon.

I do hope you like it. Please do pop along and see what the rest of the design team have come up with for you this week.

Thanks for stopping by.

Butterflies Thinlits by Stamping’ Up!

Butterflies Thinlits by Stamping’ Up! #CCMC451

Hellooooo! Yes it’s Thursday again and time for a sketch challenge over at Create with Connie & Mary! Today I’m using the Butterfly Thinlits by Stamping’ Up! Why? Well the sun was shining when I made this card. And the weather is warming up….. so spring is on the way which makes me think butterflies!

Butterflies Thinlits by Stamping' Up! Tracy May #CCMC451

So I’m really pleased with the way my card has turned out today. And I think it’s just so clean and simple and the colours really pop! The simple colour scheme was dictated by my choice of DSP. I really wanted to use up some of my Pop of Pink DSP, which consists of black, white, pink and a touch of gold!

The black and white striped panel for the background is really striking. And the contrasting Melon Mambo butterfly really pops don’t you think? As I wanted to keep the card simple, I opted for the flowers from Awesomely Artistic, instead of a strip of DSP behind the main embellishment. I was inspired by a card I saw by Krista Driessen on her blog ZoKriss. Isn’t Krista awesomely talented? I really like her style.

Talking of style, why don’t you pop along to see what the rest of the lovely design team have made to inspire you today. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed!

Papillon Potpourri by Stampin’ Up!

Papillon Potpourri by Stampin’ Up! #GDP045

I’m back with a super quick post today! I’m entering the Colour Challenge over at Global Design Project and I’m using Papillon Potpourri by Stampin’ Up! I haven’t used this stamp set in a while, so it was nice to get it out and ink it up for this challenge!

GDP045_Colour_Challenge

I love this colour combination! My instant thought was to make the card that I am entering, but for some reason, I started fiddling around with other designs. Non of which turned out the way I wanted, so eventually I reverted back to the original idea of using Papillon Potpourri by Stampin’ Up! of course!

Papillon Potpourri by Stampin' Up! Tracy May #GDP046

I like my card but I don’t think it’s a winner this week, which is a shame (or probably a blessing really)! The Global Design Project team have announced that from this week, they will pick one of the winners of the challenge to be a guest designer on the next colour challenge!

It’s absolutely great fun being a guest on the design team. I had the honour once and I would love to do it again! Why don’t you join in and give it a go! You never know, you could be the next winner!

Fluttering Embossing Folder from Stampin’ Up!

Thank You Card using Fluttering Embossing Folder from Stampin’ Up!

Last week, when I was creating my first project for the Create with Connie and Mary blog challenge, I also came up with the card below. I do tend to end up making two or three projects at the same time sometimes. It’s hardly surprising that my craft room ends up looking a complete mess all the time! lol!

I embossed a panel of water colour card with the Fluttering Embossing folder from Stampin’ Up! ® and soaked it with water on what I call the reverse side – i.e. the side that is debossed or indented! . I then took the Soft Sky, Pool Party and Marina Mist refill ink bottles and dropped a few drops of each in lines along the width of the card, starting with Soft Sky and ending with Marina Mist to create an ombre effect. I picked up the card stock and tilted it this way and that to get the ink to cover it all and then laid if flat to dry. You can see where the ink pooled in some of the butterflies, which I really like.

Thank You Card using Fluttering Embossing Folder from Stampin' Up! Tracy May

I used up the rest of the strip of Silver Glimmer paper I had used on the Connie and Mary card, and then spent an age uhmming and ahhing over what colour butterfly to add to the top. In the end I settled on Whisper White, as I felt it fit the softness of the water coloured background best.

What do you think? I hope you like it?

Fluttering Butterflies Thinlits from Stampin’ Up!

Create with Connie & Mary Blog Challenge – Challenge CCMC399

I am so excited today! It’s my very first post as a member of the Create with Connie & Mary Blog Challenge Design Team! Woohoo! I was so excited when I received the email asking me if I would like a spot on the team. I jumped at the chance of course and so here I am with my first design based on Connie & Mary’s sketch for challenge CCMC399.

Create with Connie & Mary Blog Challenge

For those of you visiting me for the first time, let me introduce myself. My name is Tracy May and I am a Stampin’ Up! ® Demonstrator based in the UK. My blog name derives from my two small sons – aka the Bedlam Brothers, as I like to call them, and my love of butterfly stamps. So for my first project for the design team I just had to have a butterfly in place of the flower in the sketch!

Fluttering Embossing Folder with Butterflies Thinlits from Stampin' Up! Tracy May #CCMC399

I cut out the butterfly from Stampin’ Up! Watercolour paper using the Butterflies Thinlits Dies and water coloured it using an aqua painter and the Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay and Daffodil Delight ink refills. Whilst it was drying I embossed a panel of Whisper White using the Fluttering Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (TIEF for short) and attached it to the Basic Black card in the background.

The sentiment is stamped in Melon Mambo from Another Thank You and is held in place by the Mini Metallic Clothes Pin, which is also holding the butterfly to the embossed panel. I do hope you like it! It’s a very me card – clean and simple with a splash of colour! LoL!

Why not join in with the challenge – it’s lots of fun! 🙂

#GDP024 Watercolor Wings Thank You Card

Watercolor Wings Thank You Card made for the Global Design Project Challenge #GDP024

I have a love/hate thing going on with my card today, which is a Watercolor Wings Thank You card, for the Case the Designer challenge (#GDP024) over at the Global Design Project Challenge blog! The designer this week is non other than my lovely team leader Michelle Last with this stunning card!GDP024

Lovely isn’t it? I took inspiration from the Butterfly and the blue and decided to use those elements on my card.

I made my card last night and the version you are seeing is actually to super quick re-creation of the first card, that I had to make after destroying the original!!!

Watercolor Wings from Stampin' Up! #GDP024 Tracy May.

I had a vision of loveliness in my head when I started making the card last night, but as it progressed an epic battle ensued and the card won!! Everything that could go wrong did – most of it was recoverable…. an errant ink splat covered up with a vellum butterfly with a staple through it for example. Right until I had finished the card and set it to one side to finish off another one I was making.

ALL I did was move the finished card out of the way and bang! Game over – black ink smudge right on the edge …… which in my infinite wisdom I decided would “wash” out with an aquapainter! DUH! I then thought if I carefully removed the card front I could trim it and stick it onto another piece of Basic Black – you can see where this is going can’t you? Yep straight in the bin in about 4 pieces!! Lol!

Anyway I re-created the card quickly before going to bed in a huff (lol!). I thought I would leave off the vellum butterflies that had been covering up mistakes on the original but in the end I actually liked it better with them on, so back in they went. I also decided to splat some Wink of Stella over the card too to contrast with the water marks – oh yeah be careful as it does really go SPLAT ha ha ha (as you can see top left of the big butterfly!)

The little vellum butterflies have been covered with Wink of Stella too and they look very pretty!

I hope you like today’s card! It certainly gave me brain ache but I think I got there in the end! 😄

Fluttering butterfly embossing folder from Stampin’ Up!

Fluttering butterfly embossing folder from Stampin’ Up!

A friend and her family recently moved to a new home and she was describing the outdated decor to us. Apparently her living room was decorated in a vile purple butterfly wallpaper, which just had to go! As a joke I made her a purple butterfly card using the Fluttering butterfly embossing folder from Stampin’ Up!, which hopefully is a lot more tasteful than the wallpaper was! Lol!

What do you think?

Stampin' Up! Fluttering Butterfly Embossing Folder Tracy May

I added some Dazzling Details to the wing spots of the butterfly, which is stamped using the fabulous Watercolor Wings set in Wisteria Wonder, Elegant Eggplant and Perfect Plum. Purple isn’t normally one of my go to colour schemes, however, I think it’s a beautiful card and very clean and simple, but then I’m biased aren’t I? 😉

I think I will try out some more purple colour schemes, there’s loads in the new Spring/Summer catalogue, which would look stunning in it! I had a little play last night with one of my new stamps and I can’t wait to share the results with you later in December.

In the meantime, check out this week’s deals and see if you can grab yourself a bargain. Last orders for guaranteed delivery before Christmas are Sunday 13th December, so make sure to order now if you want something in time for a gift or last minute craft project!

Butterflies Thinlits™ Dies Flip Card Video Tutorial

Free video tutorial of how to make a Butterfly flip card using Stampin’ Up!’s® Butterflies Thinlits™ Dies

Good morning everyone and how are you all today. I’m back today with what should have been Monday’s post. I had a few technical glitches loading my video tutorial to YouTube. It didn’t work…..and then it did! No rhyme or reason, I changed nothing and what failed one day suddenly worked the next. Very frustrating for someone who used to work in IT and used to be able to figure this stuff out – silly baby brain! (p.s. the kids are now 6 and 4, so when will my brain return? lol).

So without further ado, here’s an example of the card I show you how to make in the video tutorial.

And then when you flip it….

SPOILER ALERT: I’m so happy the Butterflies Thinlits™ Dies are carrying over into the new catalogue! And the Butterfly Basics stamp set is too! You can buy them together in a bundle and save 15% – available in wood, clear and photopolymer

I hope you enjoy the video – it’s been a long time since I did one and I felt a little bit rusty but soon got into the swing of it.

Before you go, check out the latest weekly deals available through my shop.

Butterflies Thinlits from Stampin’ Up!

Butterflies Thinlits from Stampin’ Up! – Masking and Spritzing with ink refills

Well hello. And how are you today? It’s absolutely peeing it down as I speak and I’ve put the heating back on Brrrr. (Sorry ignore me – we Brits are obsessed with the weather lol!)

I spent a happy evening last week, playing around with my spritzers again – I think I told you already me and spritzers are not usually a happy combination. But, I think I’m getting the hang of them now.

Stampin' Up! - butterflies thinlits - masking - spritzing - Bedlam & Butterflies

My lovely downline, Delphine, had posted these gorgeous negative mask cards on her blog – she is super talented – go and check out her lovely projects. Well, it reminded me that I had wanted to use the masking technique with the Butterflies Thinlits Dies and my Stampin’ Spritzers. I used on of my Stampin’ Up! delivery boxes to create a spritzing chamber by taking the side panel off, so I could lay the project down on the bottom and spritz away without the ink going everywhere – I still managed to get it all over the counter top in the utility room anyway lol!

I loved how the mask looked afterwards so kept it to use on this card.

Stampin' Up! - butterflies thinlits - masking - spritzing - Bedlam & Butterflies

It’s pretty isn’t it? I used the Butterfly Basics stamp set for the sentiment and stamped the background saying from the same set all over in Versamark ink.

I hope you like today’s projects. Don’t forget to check out the Retiring List (link on the side bar). There are lots of items that have already sold out, but there are still bargains to find too.

Thanks for stopping by.

Beautiful Home Decor Idea using Stampin’ Up! Designer Vellum

Beautiful home decor idea using Stampin’ Up ! Sheer Perfection Designer Vellum stack.

Good morning peeps, how’re you all doing today? I’m slowly getting back into a rythm of crafting and blogging (I think), now that my home extension project is wrapping up. We’ve still got the bathroom to do – it wasn’t in the original plans but when everything in it started failing we knew we just had to. I will spare you the rest of the house but I will share pictures of my new craft space. If you’re like me then you’ll love seeing how others organise their space.

One of the things I am doing is creating some decor items to brighten up a blank white wall in my room. I couldn’t resist the Sheer Perfection Designer Vellum stack, as soon as I saw the butterflies sheet. I knew I wanted to do make something decorative with it and had some Ikea Ribba picture box frames stacked in the corner of my room and hey presto…..stampin up uk independent demonstrator Tracy May Home Decor ideas

I used Basic Grey for the background card as this is the colour used in the vellum. I mounted the vellum onto Whisper White first so that it would stand out more. I finished with some Melon Mambo butterflies from the Butterfly Basics stamp set (available in wood, clear and photopolymer) and cut out the larger one with the Butterflies thinlits and the smaller ones with the Bitty Butterfly punch.

I’ve not managed to put the shelf up on the wall yet to display this picture and other home decor ideas using Stampin’ Up! products but I will share pictures as soon as I do!

Well I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s project. Don’t forget the Sheer Perfection Designer Vellum is available as a Sale-a-bration gift available free with a £45 order until March 31st.

SAB-Explanation

Thanks for stopping by. Have a craft-tastic (it’s a word, right?) weekend.
