Eastern Medallions by Stampin’ Up!

Eastern Medallions by Stampin’ Up!

Welcome back to this week’s sketch challenge from Create with Connie & Mary. For my card this week, I decided against using a stamp set, except for the sentiment of course. I stuck with Eastern Medallions by Stampin’ Up! These thinlits dies are absolutely gorgeous and I love all the accessories that match. If you are into Madalas and medallions then I’m sure this is a great set for you too!

I started off with a panel of Soft Sky card stock but when I loosely assembled all the elements, I found it looked a little boring. So I embossed the panel using Softly Falling. I think this is my all time favourite embossing folder yet!

Then, I cut the large medallion from Melon Mambo card stock. I hadn’t really thought about a colour scheme beyond this point. But I thought that Daffodil Delight would be a good colour to use. I am happy with the way it all turned out. What do you think? Does it work?

The Eastern Medallions by Stampin’ Up! are part of the Eastern Promise suite of products, which are in the new catalogue. Don’t forget these are available to order right now.

Well that’s it from me. Please do pop over and see what the rest of the talented design team have come up with for you this week.

Eastern Promise by Stampin’ Up!

Eastern Promise by Stampin’ Up!

I finally had the chance to play with Eastern Promise by Stampin’ Up! As a demonstrator we get some perks. The option to pre-order from new catalogues being one of them. So, I bought the whole Eastern Promise bundle, which will be available in the new annual catalogue. And I can tell you it’s lovely! I had fun playing around with options for this week’s colour challenge from Create with Connie & Mary. I was surprised that a few of my options turned out quite well with these colours. In the end though I stuck with my favourite which is as usual clean and simple.

I’ve been trying out my hand drawing mandalas on notebooks. I’m not confident enough to try out my own designs from scratch,  but I find ones I like on Pinterest and then follow them loosely, so this suite of products is perfect for me. The Eastern Medallions Thinlits dies used to cut the shapes above are beautiful. Some of the dies (like the one above) only partially cut out the shapes, whilst others cut out the shapes completely and can be layered with one another. Theco-ordinating Eastern Beauty stamp set contains simple shapes that can be used to decorate the die cuts.

I used Flirty Flamingo and Island Indigo for the stamping in the mandala and then used Tempting Turquoise underneath. I also added a strip of Island Indigo down the side as I wasn’t sure it was obvious enough I had used all 3 colours.

Well I hope you like my card! Please do pop over and see what the rest of the talented design team have come up with this week at Create with Connie & Mary!
