Butterfly Card using Stampin’ Up! Products

Butterfly Card using Stampin’ Up! Products for #SS002

I’m back today with a Butterfly Card using Stampin’ Up! Products, that I’m entering the lovely Sarah Berry’s Strawberry Sketch Challenge this week!

Strawberry-Sketches-A-new-sketch-every-Wednesday-SS002

As soon as I saw those butterflies, I knew I would keeping it simple and going with the sketch as-is. It’s the school holidays so I don’t have as much time to craft now the Bedlam Brothers are off, so having sketches like Sarah’s are a big help to speed up my crafting time. I can spend hours agonising over the tiniest little details! Now I don’t have the luxury! LoL!

I cut out an oval of Soft Sky using the new Layering Oval Framelits, and embossed it with the Fluttering Embossing Folder. Then I stamped the little butterflies you see at the top of the oval. I used the stamps from the Perpetual Birthday Calendar stamp set. I love the Melon Mambo with the Soft Sky don’t you? The butterflies are punched out of Melon Mambo card stock and the sentiment is from Thoughtful Banners.

So what do you think? I hope you like my project today! Pop over to Sarah’s blog to have a look at the other entries. Why don’t you have a go too?

Another Thank You from Stampin’ Up!

Another Thank You from Stampin’ Up! – Online Code Club Thank You Cards and Gifts

Another Thank You from Stampin’ Up! I think is my most used stamp set. I love this stamp set, for I am forever making thank you cards and there are six Thank You or Thanks stamps in the set. I make all my customers thank you cards no matter how small or large the order, everyone gets them!

Today’s projects are the matching thank you and gift packaging I made and sent out to my online customers who used my Monthly gift club code in February. And today’s post is extra exciting as I am adding this post to the super lovely Kylie Bertucci’s International Blog Highlights competition!
Another Thank You from Stampin' Up! Tracy May Bedlam & Butterflies

I started by mixing some inks on a palette tray and adding water. I used various yellows, blues, oranges and pinks and then water coloured a couple of pieces of watercolour card stock. Whilst the water colour paper dried, I masked a card front with my home made circle mask (I used the Circle framelits to cut a circle out of the middle of a piece of window sheet so I can reuse the mask) and then covered the circle with Soft Sky ink using a piece of sponge – any ink blending tool will do! Then I stamped over the middle with the Thank You from Another Thank You from Stampin’ Up! in Pool Party.

Once the water colour paper was dry, I cut out the butterflies using the Elegant Butterfly and Bitty Butterfly punches. The next step was to add the Linen thread around the middle of the butterflies. I separated the strands of the thread as I wanted to keep it very thin.

Another Thank You from Stampin' Up! Tracy May Bedlam & Butterflies

I then stuck the butterflies to the front of the card bases and cut out some of the circles and added them to the front of glassine gift bags along with the butterflies. I loved the effect of the butterflies “flying” in an arc up the front of the cards and the gift bags! What do you think?

All the gifts have been packaged up and sent out now!

Butterflies & Timeless Textures from Stampin’ Up! #GDP021

Butterflies & Timeless Textures from Stampin’ Up! #GDP021

I’ve got two cards featuring Butterflies & Timeless Textures from Stampin’ Up! for you today. The first one I’m entering into the Global Design Project Colour Challenge #GDP021

GDP021

I’m not very good at colour challenges. I find them ….well… challenging! Ha ha ha! I decided I would see what using the baby wipe ink pad technique would produce. I thought the flourish from Timeless Textures would make a good starting point. First I splattered some plain white card fronts with drops of the 3 colours…. and decided not to use them at all!!!! 😬 Not to worry, I’m sure they’ll come in handy for something else!

Butterflies & Timeless Textures Stampin' Up! Tracy May #GDP021

For this card I decided on one butterfly in Melon Mambo. The sentiment is stamped and heat embossed on to the Free Sale-a-bration Botanical Gardens Vellum and mounted over a strip of Wisteria Wonder.

The next card was assembled under strict instructions from my 4 year old who is off sick from school at the moment. He was sat under my table as I was creating the cards. I had to keep sticking the card under the table to get his approval of what colour butterflies and where to put them! Ha ha ha

Obviously this one is his favourite and he did a great job I think! Ha ha ha

I hope you like today’s projects. Be sure to check out all the other lovely entries too!

Washi tape butterfly card using Stampin’ Up! products

A super quick post from me today. Stampin’ Up!® posted a card on the demonstrator website ages ago that had used this paper piercing technique and I had been itching to give it a go but never got round to it. Well now I have! Hope you like it!

Stampin' Up! Uk independent demonstrator card making ideas Washi tape butterfly card

I used the Starburst framelits and Elegant Butterfly punch for the focal point of the card. Retro fresh washi tape adorns the background, which was pierced using the Essentials piercing pack.

I’m in the middle of a big declutter as we are starting an extension in two weeks time. I am very excited. I am secretly calling it Operation Craft Room as I will end up with a craft room at the end of it, although the reality is it is much more about family space. The only down side is I have very little energy left in the evenings for crafting at the moment but I will crack on and get some new projects created to share with you all.

Hope you have a good day x

Spots & Stripes Butterfly challenge using Stampin’ Up! Decorative Masks

The other day I stumbled across a Butterfly challenge blog  – well I just had to give it a go. This week’s theme is Spots & Stripes and of course your butterfly.

Stampin’ Up!® have brought out two sets of Decorative masks in the new annual catalogue. I used the Dots & Stripes set for this challenge.

I inked up a sponge dauber with Blackberry Bliss from the new in-colours and sponged through the mask without reinking the dauber to get the ombre effect. I ran a circle of blackberry bliss card stock through my Big Shot with the Stylish Stripes embossing folder.

I couldn’t just do one though ….

I used Lost Lagoon ink for this one and the Decorative Dots embossing folder on the circle of Lost Lagoon card stock. The butterflies on both cards are from Kinda Eclectic (wood or clear), they match with the Elegant Butterfly punch and the sentiment is from Itty Bitty Banners (wood or clear) cut out using the Bitty Banners framelits.
I hope you like them.
It’s the last few days of school… I had an insight into the summer holidays at the weekend. My husband bought the boys pump action water guns!! Oh dear! Lol

Butterfly CASE – using Stampin’ Up! ® products

One of the things I love about Stampin’ Up!, which I have probably already mentioned, is CASE! Simply put, it means – Copy and Share Everything! Stampin’ Up! actively encourage it and I find it really helps when my creative mojo has gone AWOL, which it does from time to time!

Today’s project started off as a two-card CASE of a card by Kimberley Van Diepen, who is one of the top demos in the US. I loved her card the instant I saw it (click here) – it combines Butterflies (Elegant Butterfly punch) and Happy Watercolor (available in clear or wood) – two of my absolute favourites!

I started with more or less a direct case of the neutrals card, trying it out on Whisper White and Very Vanilla. I got a bit carried away with the gold ink splats from Gorgeous Grunge (available in clear or wood).

stampin up elegant butterfly punch happy watercolor Tracy May card making idea

I then thought I would create a blue version similar to the cards I created a few weeks back with a watercolour background (click here to see)

I then got even more carried away and decided to try it out in red, pink, orange, yellow, green and purple too! Its a great way to use those colours, that you tend to neglect in favour of others.

I find it difficult to part with cards I love, but I will be using these as thank you cards for my customers (they deserve them, as they (my customers) are so lovely). I will be cheeky and say if you are in the UK, Netherlands, France, Germany or Austria and would like one too, all you need do is place an order with me (simply click on the product links or the shop link below to get started) and I will send you one too!

Watercolour Backgrounds – using Stampin’ Up! ® products

Recently a friend posted on Facebook that they had a week off work and were going to be learning how to paint with watercolour. I would love to be able to paint properly using watercolours. It is something I dabbled with prior to discovering Stampin’ Up! I have a box of paints and watercolour paper stashed away from inquisitive little fingers. When I have more time I will get them out and take it up again.

In the meantime, though I was inspired to get out my SU aqua painters and ink refills to create my own watercolour backgrounds. I spent the evening trying our different colour combinations on different cardstock. I found that the Shimmery White held water well and didn’t dull the colour either.  I’ll have a go with some watercolour paper too but in the meantime, I recreated a card I have made a few different versions of now. I hope you like the versions below. Both of them use Soft Sky, Pool Party and Marina Mist to create an “ombre-esque” background.

stampin up elegant-butterfly bitty-butterfly en francais
For this card I masked the white space off with oversized sticky notes and then stamped over the watercolour background with the En Français background stamp available in clear or wood. I wrapped Linen Thread around three times and then punched out the butterflies using the Bitty Butterfly and Elegant Butterfly punches, finishing off the card with some Rhinestones and a stamped sentiment from the hostess set Express Yourself (also available in clear and wood).

For this card I used the Butterfly Collection Jumbo Wheel stamp, and placed the small butterfly punch outs under the Linen thread.

Papillon Potpourri Gift Picture Frames – using Stampin’ Up! ® products

I love that you can use the Stampin’ Up! products to make gifts and home decor items, as well as cards!

Ever since I bought the Papillon Potpourri stamp set I have been using it to make gift picture frames for my friends’ little girls birthdays. They started off, very simple with just the butterflies, like this early one on Pinterest. I then added the name using the Morning Post Alphabet stamp and stamping the name directly onto the background, like this one.

Then I bought the Typeset Alphabet Bigz dies and they evolved again! I love the Bigz alphabet. I also do a boys version of these gifts using the Simply Stars stamp set (but that will be another blog post).

stampin up papillon potpourri elegant butterfly bitty butterfly Tracy May Alphabet bigz
I used Rose Red and Wisteria Wonder as the colour scheme for the one above.  I stamped the butterflies onto the background card stock. Then I stamped and heat embossed the butterflies in white onto the coloured card and punched them out to stick over the top of the stamped images. I raised the wings to give a 3D effect. I also punched out two little flowers to stick on the letters, embellished with a pearl in the centre.
stampin up papillon potpourri elegant butterfly bitty butterfly alphabet bigz
This one is Pear Pizazz and Blushing Bride, which is becoming one of my favourite colour combinations. This time I punched the butterfly out of coloured card stock and stuck that on the background. I then stamped the butterflies onto Whisper White and punched them out to stick over the coloured ones. Again I lifted the wings for the 3D effect. I finished off with one little flower in Early Espresso, embellished with a pearl in the centre.
Everyone has loved these gifts, which makes me want to keep on making them.
For these projects you will need:
Stamps: Papillon Potpourri
Inks: Rose Red, Wisteria Wonder, Pear Pizazz, Blushing Bride, Early Espresso
Cardstock: Whisper White, Rose Red, Wisteria Wonder, Pear Pizazz, Blushing Bride
Other: Bitty Butterfly Punch, Elegant Butterfly Punch, Typeset Alphabet Bigz, Itty Bitty Shapes Punch, Pearls

Card stock: Baked Brown Sugar, Naturals White, Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay, Whisper White, Brushed Gold, Basic Black

A Venetian Romance – using Stampin’ Up! ® products

Continuing with the Romance theme (ok, ok, tenuous link I know), today’s project is a birthday card I made for my Mum. I have been trying to overcome my aversion to cutting into sheets of DSP. I  just love, love, love, LOVE DSP and find it really hard to cut the sheets up to use, daft I know but there you go!  I now have a stack of papers sitting unused, but at least not unloved!

I used Very Vanilla as the base to co-ordinate with the colour scheme of Venetian Romance. I popped a panel, that I paper-pierced round the edges, up on Stampin’ dimensionals to give the card a bit of ….well dimension – sorry struggling to think of a better word. I haven’t even had my first cup of coffee yet this morning!

The design on my Mum’s card was my favourite from the pack, even though it was for my mum I was still so reluctant to cut the beautiful sheet up – sorry Mum J. I steeled myself though and then carried on with making a batch of customer thank you cards too. I’m continuing my DSP cutting aversion therapy as and when I can so watch out for more projects using DSP!

I hope you like them.

For these cards you will need:

Card Stock: Very Vanilla, Whisper White note lets, Whisper White, Soft Suede, Pistachio Pudding, Crisp Cantaloupe, Tangerine Tango.

DSP: Venetian Romance
Ink: Soft Suede, Tangerine Tango, Crisp Cantaloupe
Stamp Sets: Sassy Salutations, Four You
Punches: Bitty Butterfly, Elegant Butterfly, Decorative Label
Embellishments: Rhinestones, Candy Dots
