Vintage Leaves by Stamping’ Up! #CCMC448

Vintage Leaves by Stamping’ Up! #CCMC448

So what do you think of today’s colour challenge over at Create with Connie & Mary? As soon as I saw these colours, I knew I wanted to use the Vintage Leaves by Stamping’ Up! stamp set and create today’s card. I don’t know why though. Perhaps I have seen these colours on Pinterest or similar for a leafy card? Who knows? Anyway this is what I came up with (whilst hoping I haven’t inadvertently copied someone else!)

Vintage Leaves by Stamping' Up! Tracy May #CCMC448

I still need to sort out the software that I use to add my watermarks. For some reason it is compressing the image and making it look grainy! But hopefully it’s clear enough to see the layers I have created?

  • I started by stamping the leaves in Pool Party and then stamping over them with a splatter from Gorgeous Grunge in Smoky Slate and Chocolate Chip;
  • I then stamped off the leaves in Chocolate Chip and before stamping over the Pool Party leaves;
  • I stamped the large leaf in Chocolate Chip on a separate piece of Whisper White and then cut it out using the co-ordinatelu framelits dies;
  • I wrapped Linen thread around the card front and attached it to the leaf before tying in a bow;
  • The sentiment is from Thankful Thoughts and is also in Chocolate Chip’
  • I adhered the card front to a Smoky Slate card base!

So what do you think? I hope you like it! All in all it came together pretty easily.

Thanks for stopping by. Please do pop over and see what the rest of the lovely design team have come up with for you this week!

Gorgeous Grunge from Stampin’ Up!

Gorgeous Grunge from Stampin’ Up!

I had the perfect opportunity this weekend to get out one of my all time favourite stamp sets, Gorgeous Grunge from Stampin’ Up! and it’s the star of the show this time, not just lurking in the background! I’m playing along with Less is More’s Week 280 challenge which is themed “Splatters”. As soon as I saw the theme, I knew it just had to be Gorgeous Grunge.

Gorgeous Grunge from Stampin' Up! Tracy May LIM #280

It was a lovely sunny day on Saturday when I was making this card and that influenced my choice of colours I think. I decided to create something similar to my blog header. I used the Melon Mambo and Bermuda Bay but changed Smoky Slate to Daffodil Delight for a much brighter look!

The little butterflies are from Garden in Bloom and the sentiment and underlining dots are from Sunnburst Sayings, which I’ve not really used much. I will have to do something about that!

I heat embossed the sentiment in the dots using clear embossing powder, by first inking up my stamps with Versamark and then Memento Tuxedo Black. When you stamp the black ink goes on first and the Versamark ends up on top so the powder sticks to it! Clever hey!! 🙂

Well I hope you like my bright and cheerful card! I do but then I’m biased aren’t I? Lol!

Another Stampin’ Up! Colour Combination Challenge #CCMC402

Another Stampin’ Up! Colour Combination Challenge for Create with Connie & Mary #CCMC402

I’m back with another challenge for the Create with Connie & Mary Challenge Design Team. This week it is a colour challenge using the Stampin’ Up! Colour combination of Mint Macaron, Lost Lagoon and Soft Suede.

CCMC402

I love all these colours and didn’t think I would have any problems with them! And I had an idea in my mind using DSP and coloured card stock galore but try as I might I just couldn’t get it to work. And the more I tried the further away I got, from something I was happy with!

I seem to have a mental block when it comes to colour combinations and if I try to use a whole panel of colour via a designer series paper or a piece of card stock I get stuck and don’t know what to do with the rest of the card! I have noticed that I have a tendancy to go even more minimalistic and clean and simple than usual, when I’m faced with a colour challenge! Strange!!

Create with Connie & Mary Colour Challenge Card using Stampin' Up! Products Tracy May #CCMC402

Anyway, this is what I came up with!

  1. I stamped the grid and tea cup/coffee cup rings from Timeless Textures in Soft Suede ink onto the Whisper White card front and then stamped ink splats from Gorgeous Grunge in Lost Lagoon over the top.
  2. The sentiment is from Another Thank You and is stamped in Soft Suede and then mounted onto a small piece of Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper in Mint Macaron underneath it, all over the top of some Gold Metallic thread.
  3. I stamped the butterfly from Kinda Eclectic in Mint Macaron and punched it out using the Itty Bitty Butterfly Punch and stuck it over the gold thread.
  4. Finally I used a piece of Soft Suede Designer Series paper from the Neutrals DSP 12×12″ stack and mounted the card front onto that to create the border, before mounting the whole thing onto a card base.

I know it looks super easy, and seriously now I have the design I could recreate this again in 5 minutes, but trust me a whole lot of effort went into this card 😂. I do love it though – it’s always great feeling coming up with a design I’m happy with when I’ve felt challenged!

I hope you like it to and be sure to check out the rest of the design team’s projects this week over at Create with Connie & Mary! And please do join us and play along!

Thanks for stopping by!

Be the Star from Stampin’ Up!

Be the Star from Stampin’ Up! for #GDP026 Sketch Challenge

Stampin' Up! Spring/Summer 2016 Catalogue - SAB

Be The Star from Stampin’ Up! is a well loved old favourite of mine, which has certainly been neglected of late, as I’ve been playing with all my shiny new stamp sets from the Spring/Summer 2016 Catalogue. I thought it was about time, it got dusted off and given the chance to shine again and the sketch for this week’s Global Design Project challenge fits the bill perfectly.

Sketch Challenge

I decided Gorgeous Grunge was also required and once the stamp sets had been selected, I turned my thoughts to colours. I decided my brain was far too fuddled today with my cold, so a quick search on Pinterest and the the colour scheme was settled on – click here for the pin!

Everything Eleanor from Stampin’ Up!

Super quick thank you cards using Everything Eleanor from Stampin’ Up!

Now these cards are the quickest of quick to make seriously. I will be making a bunch of these as this month’s thank you cards as not only are they super quick, I think they are lovely too! Well I’m biased – what do you think? I used Everything Eleanor from Stampin’ Up! and I am entering them (well one of them) in to the Less is More One Layer “Stem” challenge this week.

Everything Eleanor from Stampin' Up with Gorgeous Grunge UK Demonstrator Tracy May LIM

I was toying with the idea of adding a border around the flower for some extra interest but when I tried a couple of un-inked stamps to see what they would look like I decided Less is definitely More in this case.

I would describe Everything Eleanor from Stampin’ Up! as a more traditional stamp set and I tend to have a more modern style, but I thought I could team it up with the ink splat from Gorgeous Grunge to give it a more modern twist that would work well. I stamped the first ink splat in Real Red on one card blank and then Watermelon Wonder on the other, after stamping off to get a lighter shade for the second card.

Everything Eleanor from Stampin' Up with Gorgeous Grunge UK Demonstrator Tracy May LIM

I haven’t used Everything Eleanor for an age but this week, it’s been grabbing my attention every time I look down my rack of stamp sets, so I thought today would be the ideal outing for it. At first I was going to stamp, colour and cut out the flower to stick over the ink splats, but luckily remembered it was a one layer (clue being in the title duh!) challenge this week. Lol!

Everything Eleanor from Stampin' Up with Gorgeous Grunge UK Demonstrator Tracy May LIM

I must admit I am dying to add some sequins or rhinestones to bling them up a bit, but I’m resisting the temptation to stick with the one layer theme! Lol!

Christmas Tags – Bags, Tags & Boxes Week

Christmas Tags – Bags, Tags & Boxes Week

It’s Bags, Tags & Boxes Week on Bedlam & Butterflies! There won’t be any Christmas cards this week. I figured most people who are making their own Christmas cards will be done by now – or at least know what they are going to make, so I thought I would try to inspire other types of Christmas crafting. I will be making Christmassy bags, tags and boxes for you this week. I’m kicking off with some Christmas tags.

I’ve got three sets of Christmas tags to show you traditional colours with a modern design, contemporary colours and a more traditional design Kraft tags.

I’m also entering the first set of tags into the Global Design Project Color Combination challenge #GDP013 which is Real Red, Crumb Cake and Old Olive. I’ve teamed these colours up with Gorgeous Grunge and Festival of Trees for a modern look.

Stampin' Up! Christmas Tags Tracy May UK Demonstrator

I made a trio of the same Christmas Tags. I’ve recently re-inked my Old Olive and it’s stamping very dark, plus the photo doesn’t really show the green up well I think because the light is bad today, but trust me that  Christmas Tree is Old Olive! Also I used Gold Glitter to add a bit of sparkle!

Stampin' Up! Christmas Tags Tracy May UK Demonstrator

I also decided to try out some Christmassy blues but with a twist of orange for a contemporary colour scheme to compliment the modern design. What do you think?

Stampin' Up! Christmas Tags Tracy May UK Demonstrator

I added Silver Glitter for some sparkle on these.

I love the mottled look of the second generation stamping of the Christmas Tree on this tag.

And now for some more traditional looking Christmas Tags I made using Kraft card stock and scraps of Designer Series Paper. These are so simple to make. All you need is a punch and a sentiment stamp.

Pretty card using Stampin’ Up! Products

A pretty card using Stampin’ Up! products created for CASology cue word “Pretty” challenge

I keep looking at today’s card thinking ah it’s so pretty, which given I am entering it into the CASology Pretty cue word challenge is probably a good thing, right? I don’t normally do pretty to this degree and there is a small corner of my brain screaming it’s too pretty for you!! Lol! I think probably because this card is much more girlie than I’m used to. Buuuuut it’s good to get out of my comfort zone from time to time. What do you think of my pretty card using Stampin’ Up! products? Too girlie or not? Or should I call it feminine and not girly?

Pretty card using Stampin' Up! products Tracy May card making ideas

I used a technique my team leader, Michelle, used on her swap cards (click here to see), by stamping over the butterflies with Blushing Bride and Calypso Coral ink on a couple of the splatter stamps from Gorgeous Grunge (I seem to be using Gorgeous Grunge on every project these days!)

The flower was stamped on to water colour paper with Basic Black, which is now an archival ink and therefore waterproof. I water coloured using Stampin’ Write markers in Blushing Bride, Calypso Coral and Watermelon Wonder (which is a fab combination I saw at OnStage in Brussels) and an aqua painter. I used Cucumber Crush and Mossy Meadow for the stem and leaves. I then covered the whole lot with a wodge (real word honest!lol) of Dazzling Details – after I cut it out and stuck it on the front of the card.

I used a soft sky card base to tone down the girlie-ness! 🙂

Well I hope you like it!

Sparkly Seasons from Stampin’ Up!

A set of gorgeous water coloured Christmas cards created using Sparkly Seasons from Stampin’ Up! by UK Demonstrator, Tracy May

I’ve been having fun with Sparkly Seasons from Stampin’ Up! this morning. It took me a few attempts to get going, I will admit, but once I got the hang of being patient whilst water colouring the little images things started to go more smoothly! I just needed to allow time between painting one area and the next. The first few attempts ended up in the bin as my impatience lead to the colours all mixing to a dark muddy mess!

Sparkly Seasons from Stampin' Up! Snowman Christmas Card

I did this little guy first. Isn’t he cute? I used an aqua painter and a Stampin’ Up! Pool Party Classic ink pad to colour the sky around him. Once I allowed that to dry I painted the hat and scarf in green – I used Cucumber Crush first and then went over it with Mossy Meadow to deepen the colour and create shadows. Once that was dry I finished off with Watermelon Wonder with Real Red on top!

Then I did the Nutcracker and Ballerina cards afterwards.

The card base is embossed using the Softly Falling embossing folder. I’ll let you in to a little secret – it’s carrying over to the Spring/Summer catalogue, which is awesome. I know I have seen it already!

Sparkly Seasons from Stampin' Up! Snowman Christmas Card

I forgot to stamp the Gorgeous Grunge splat before I embossed, so I did it afterwards. It has a nice effect on the raised parts!

Sparkly Season from Stampin’ Up! is available until the 4th January 2016, so grab it while you can. It’s a great set!

If you can’t wait until January to see the new catalogue, how about signing up as a demonstrator? You will soon be able to choose from the Spring/Summer catalogue for your starter kit! We demos get our hands on product a month before general release! Drop me a line and I’d be happy to provide you with all the info you need.

Festival of Trees from Stampin’ Up!

Christmas inspiration for the Global Design Project “Christmas challenge (#GDP011) using Festival of Trees from Stampin’ Up!

Ok so it’s official, Christmas is on the way! Today’s card for the Global Design Project “Christmas challenge (#GDP011) uses Festival of Trees from Stampin’ Up! combined with a dash of Lucky Stars embossing folder and a sprinkle of Gorgeous Grunge – oh and not to forget a scattering of Jingle All the Way!

Festival of Trees from Stampin' Up! Tracy May UK Demonstrator #GDP011

I think I’m going with this version of my card for #GDP011. I’ve seen loads of cards recently being embossed after stamping, which is what inspired today’s cards.

Festival of Trees from Stampin' Up! Tracy May UK Demonstrator #GDP011

I wanted a subtler look for the embossing, so I didn’t run this one through the embossing folder. I’ll show you how I did it at the end of this post!

Festival of Trees from Stampin' Up! Tracy May UK Demonstrator #GDP011

This one I ran through the big shot to emboss.

So how did I get that lighter embossing on the landscape version of this card? Easy……

Festival of Trees from Stampin' Up! Tracy May UK Demonstrator #GDP011

…. I just put the card in the embossing folder then I stood on it! I moved my foot around to make sure I covered the whole of the card front! Dont worry – no embossing folders were hurt during this procedure! Lol! 🙂

OnStage Live Swaps using Lighthearted Leaves from Stampin’ Up!

Mini Treat Bag Swaps made for OnStage Live using Gorgeous Grunge and Lighthearted Leaves from Stampin’ Up!

Well I’m back from Brussels and OnStage Live! So now I can share the swaps I made using Lighthearted Leaves from Stampin’ Up! I created mini treat bags using the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits and white envelope paper from the Neutrals envelope paper collection. I based the design on the Thank You card I created a while back using Lighthearted Leaves teamed up with Gorgeous Grunge.

I had a fantastic time in Brussels! I loved the new format for the Stampin’ Up! event, formerly known as convention. There were lots of fabulous, gorgeous new products to see, which I’m sure you will love! I can’t show you them just yet as there are still some events going on, but I will give you a sneak peek soon.

Let me show you my swaps before I go off on a tangent!

Lighthearted Leaves from Stampin' Up! Mini Treat Bags Gift Ideas Tracy May

I made 40 of them – 20 in each colour. Which one do you prefer?

Lighthearted Leaves from Stampin' Up! Mini Treat Bags Gift Ideas Tracy May

This one uses Blushing Bride and Calypso Coral. I stamped the main leaf in Calypso Coral card using Calypso Coral ink, before adding highlights with a white gel pen.

Lighthearted Leaves from Stampin' Up! Mini Treat Bags Gift Ideas Tracy May

This one is stamped in Pool Party, Island Indigo and Night of Navy. I’ve never used Night of Navy much before, but seem to be liking it more and more. This one is my favourite. I cut the leaves out using the Leaflets Framelits.

Lighthearted Leaves from Stampin' Up! Mini Treat Bags Gift Ideas Tracy May

I also filled the treat bags with Hot Chocolate powder, a few chocolate chips and mini marshmallows!

Lighthearted Leaves from Stampin' Up! Mini Treat Bags Gift Ideas Tracy May

The Bedlam Brothers kept buzzing around the bags with the chocolate chips and marshmallows in prior to me getting round to making my swaps. They were very concerned there wouldn’t be enough left for them, so I made them up a bag each and I will make them a Christmas themed treat bag to put them in! 🙂

Little monkeys – they did miss me whilst I was away and I got lots of cuddles when I got back!

Well I hope you like my swaps. If you like the Lighthearted Leaves stamp set, be sure to order it now as it will be gone by the end of December. The full list of retiring products is here, so be sure to take a look and order the items you want before it’s too late.

Also there is a fantastic offer on at the moment, so check that out as well!
