Clean & Simple Grunge with Stampin’ Up!’s Gorgeous Grunge

Good morning everyone! Today’s a bit meh (I’m sure that’s a word, right?) weather wise today and my eldest son’s school is shut today for training, soooooo I’ll be doing the shop for party food for the boys’ joint party tomorrow with them both in tow. Watch out Costco here we come!! Lol!

Anyway, today I have gone back to basics with a really simple card. I think it looks clean considering the “grunge”. Gorgeous grunge is still on my favourite’s list of Stampin’ Up! stamps. I paired it with Perfect Pennants today and some Linen Thread to break it up a bit. I hope you like it!

I had the sentiment banner already mounted on to Early Espresso and I thought yellow would look good with it, so I checked out my Stampin’ Up!® Color Coach for another colour to go with it. Cherry Cobbler with Daffodil Delight and Early Espresso – I love it! It’s not a combination I would normally have considered but it really does work, so I will have to remember that and try it out again.
Look at all that lovely white space around the card – that’s what makes it so clean and simple looking!
For this card I used:
Stamps: Perfect Pennants wood or clear, Gorgeous Grunge wood or clear
Embellishment: Linen Thread, Cherry Cobbler Candy Dot (from the Regals Candy Dot pack), Candy Dots Brad bases
N.B. The Perfect Pennants Stamp set and the Banners Framelits are available as a bundle at a 15% discount. Available in wood or clear.
I hope you liked today’s project. If you are in Austria, France, Germany, The Netherlands or the UK you can purchase any of these items by clicking on the links above. Your support is very much appreciated x
Have a great weekend. See you Monday

Birthday Cards for kids using Stampin’ Up! Simply Gorgeous stamps

Good morning everyone. Hope you have had a wonderful weekend and are still having a wonderful weekend if you are in the UK. The weather has been great, which is unusual for a May bank holiday in the UK!

Well today’s post is a bright and cheery card I made for a bright and cheery little boy’s 5th birthday. For his Christmas present, I had made him one of my homemade gifts of a box frame, which had his name with stars surrounding it. I had mentioned these pictures back in February, with the intention of blogging about them, but it seems to have completely slipped my mind, so I will be posting a picture of the one I am making for my own son’s birthday on Wednesday.

Anyways, I had wanted to make this little boy a similar birthday card to the Christmas present and this is what I came up with! It’s using the same primary colours scheme red, yellow and blue aka Real Red, Daffodil Delight and Pacific Point!

I even stamped the inside for once.

I didn’t make the gift for the birthday present unfortunately, but I did jazz up the gift wrap using the Tag a Bag Accessory Kit, and tied it in to the card by using a star from the Simply Stars set.

I hope you have enjoyed today’s project. Yesterday I was browsing through one of the Pinkie team Facebook pages and came across this card made by one of my team mates Paula. It’s uncanny, how similar our cards are so just had to share it with you. She made her card for a 50 year old male. Goes to show how versatile these stamp sets are!

For the card and gift embellishments you will need:
Stamps: Simply Stars wood or clear, Gorgeous Grunge wood or clear
Card stock: Whisper White, Real Red
Embellishments: Tag a Bag Accessory Kit
Thanks for stopping by. Pop over and say hi to Paula too! See you Wednesday

3 ways with Stampin’ Up Washi Tape

Good morning everyone, I hope you had a fantastic weekend. It’s a bit of a grey start to the week here but I am ever hopeful the sun will be back soon.

Today’s projects are 3 examples of cards I have made using Stampin’ Up!® Washi tape. My upline Michelle, hosts a bi-monthly challenge on our team Facebook page. The current challenge theme is wash tape. I love all the SU patterns and I use them in my This & That journal and also in my Filofax to brighten up my diary, but other than one of my very first blog post cards (which you can see here), I have not used them much on my cards.

I recreated that first card using the Watercolour Wonder Designer Washi tape. I stamped Gorgeous Grunge in Encore Gold ink for the background.

My second card is a more simplistic card altogether. I used the Hearts framelits to cut out an aperture in the top layer and stuck some Gingham Garden Washi tape behind it. I stamped the Washi chevrons using the Tape It stamp set.

Finally my favourite card of them all, not least because I love the On Film Framelits, as well as the bright colours in the Retro Fresh This & That Washi tape, I used to stick the polaroid frame to the card. I stamped the background card behind the frame using Gorgeous Grunge and then stamped the bicycle and sentiment from Cycle Celebration.

Feel Better Soon Butterflies – using Stampin’ Up! ® products

Good morning everyone. The sun is shining again and we are off to surprise my mum by meeting her at the train station later today. It’s hard to contain two small boys, who are so excited that Nannie is coming for a sleepover! Hopefully a trip on the tube will help with that!

Today’s project is one I should have made a few weeks ago, but I have been a bit behind with my projects. Better late than never though I say. I wanted to make a pretty, kind of, but not quite shabby chic card. Why I give myself these specs I don’t know lol!!

I stamped the background Dictionary stamp (wood or clear) in Coastal Cabana onto Core-dinations Whisper White. I then stamped over with Gorgeous Grunge (wood or clear) and a home made Beautiful Butterflies Bigz stamp I made using the Undefined Stamp carving kit. I used both Crumb Cake and Coastal Cabana for that. I then sanded the card stock using the SU sanding block and stitched it to a layer of Fresh Prints DSP which I had sanded around the edges and sponged with Crumb Cake.

Then I simply cut the 3 butterflies using the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz die. The sentiment is from the Hostess only set Express Yourself (wood or clear) stamped on Whisper White Core-dinations, which was then sanded and sponged with Crumb Cake. I finished off the butterflies with some Linen Thread and a single Pearl on two of the butterflies.

This card will be in the post first thing Saturday heading off to someone in the US. I love the fact that with Stampin’ Up! you can (virtually) meet people from different places in the world.

I hope you have a good weekend. I’ll be back on Monday

Take care

Quick & Simple Crafting – using Stampin’ Up! ® products

Good morning everyone. The Easter break is in full swing in my little part of the world, but it seems that a lot of England are still in school. We’ve been getting out and about with the nice sunny weather and I’m still feeling in jaunty holiday mode following Wednesday’s blog post.  I decided to make a couple more cards using the candy stripe backgrounds I had made.

The first one I made using the Pacific Point striped note card.

I cut a banner from the High Tide DSP from the Spring/Summer Catalogue and stitched this onto the card base with me trusty little sewing machine, deliberately going a little crooked.

I then stamped the compass image from The Open Sea (wood or clear) onto one of the Essentials Wooden Elements and glued this over some Gold Baker’s Twine. I stamped the sentiment from the Peachy Keen set (wood or clear) in Pumpkin Pie and cut it out and stuck it on the bottom of the banner. I stamped the second part directly onto the card base.
The second card I made I wanted to be even quicker and more simple than the first.

For this card you will need:
A strawberry slush candy stripe note card (see Wednesday’s photo tutorial here)
Stamp sets: Gorgeous Grunge (wood or clear), Spiral Spins (wood or clear), Peachy Keen (wood or clear)
I hope you have enjoyed these quick and simple makes. Have a great weekend. I’ll be back on Monday with some different projects for you

Simply Stars and Gorgeous Grunge – using Stampin’ Up! ® products

Two of my favourite stamp sets are combined in the picture I made below. I had an Ikea frame on my fireplace, with a picture in it that I have never really liked. So when I saw this card, that a German demonstrator posted on her blog, Anja-Basteleien, replacing that picture sprang to mind.

Initially I was going to just completely case it as is, but I was also working on a butterfly picture as a birthday present for one of my son’s school friends, so I decided to do something a little different instead. I hope you like it.

I used mostly grey shades (Smoky Slate, Basic Grey with a little silver thrown in too), but injected a little colour with Bermuda Bay.

And here is where it lives – on top of a redundant fireplace in my dining room.

For this project you will need:
Card Stock: Smonky Slate 12×12″ – cut to 9×9″ for the background, Whisper White cut to 8×8″. Whisper white for the stars, Silver Glimmer Paper.
Ink: Smoky Slate, Basic Grey, Bermuda Bay
Stamps: Gorgeous Grunge, Simply Stars
Embellishments: Linen Twine, Rhinstones

XOXO! using Stampin’ Up! ® products

I have made a few more heart themed cards this week. I was dithering over my 3rd project for my class next Thursday evening. I wanted a Valentine’s card for one of the projects but one that could also be used for an occasion other than Valentine’s. I came up with a couple of designs.

The card below is one of them. I decided not to use this in the class as the other design used the new SAB Banner Blast stamp set and I want to show the ladies some of the gorgeous new products available from next week! I’m so excited. I love Sale-a-bration! The parties are fantastic fun, with everyone deciding what free gift to get and anyone wanting to join as a demo can get extra free goodies in their starter kit. Give me a call if you would like more information.

For this project you will need:
Stamps: Gorgeous Grunge, Petal Parade (SAB freee gift)
Ink: Real Red, Staz On Black
Card Stock: Whisper White, Real Red
Tools: Hearts Framelits, Circles Thinlits (for the xoxo)
Embellishments: Rhinestones
I don’t know what I’ll do with all the other Valentine’s cards I’ve made. The husband only needs one. Mind you, I could always give one to him, to give to me. That’s probably the only way I will get one! Where’s the romance gone? LOL!
Come back again tomorrow as I will have a fantastic project for you for the Pinkies Blog Hop!!!

Butterfly Birthdays – using Stampin’ Up! ® products

Now it’s no surprise I like butterflies. I named my blog after them even, and there are no end of ideas for butterfly cards from Stampin’ Up! with all the butterfly stamps, punches, dies and embosslits available. The only limits are our imaginations.

Today’s post is a medley of butterfly cards for inspiration. I made these for various friends and family birthdays before Christmas. They made a nice break from all the Christmas cards I was making.

(the card above was an emergency make, after the second of the cards in the top picture had a cup of coffee knocked all over it – oops!)

For these cards you will need:
Stamps: Music Notes and Travel Journal wheels, Swallowtail, Express Yourself (hostess only), Gorgeous Grunge
Card stock: Baked Brown Sugar, Naturals White, Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay, Whisper White, Brushed Gold, Basic Black
Ink: Versamark, Baked Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay (marker), Blender pens
Punches and Dies, Bitty and Elegant Butterfly punches, Beautiful Butterflies Bigz
Embellishments: Gold embossing powder, Gold Sequin Trim (available 28th Jan), Brights Candy Dots, Rhinestones and Linen Thread

And don’t forget about the latest digital downloads available in my Stampin’ Up! Shop.

Simply Stars and Babies – using Stampin’ Up! ® products

I had seen this scrapbook layout by Jenni Pauli months ago and had it pinned on my Scrapbook page ideas Pinterest board waiting for the opportunity to do some scrapbooking of the Bedlam Brothers’ baby pictures. I never seem to find the time though – which seems to be an age old problem for everyone these days!

Then, back in October one of my friends had a baby boy and bingo that layout popped into my mind. I have been making various pictures for friends little girls and boys using the Ikea Ribba box frames for their birthdays so it wasn’t just a random thought, although I do have a lot of random thoughts!! (lol). Anyways, I thought one of those with all the baby’s details would be an ideal gift.

Instead of using circle punches though I cut out the stars that I had stamped from the Simply Stars set – by hand!! Actually it didn’t take that long really.

First I stamped Gorgeous Grunge and Simply Stars over Whisper White background sheet and then I mounted the baby picture onto Whisper White and Crumb cake card stock and shaped the file tabs using the envelope punch board. The baby’s details are printed in Island Indigo beside the baby picture but I have masked them out of my photo.

My friend loved it so much, she asked me to make her one for her older son too!

I forgot to take photos with my camera but hopefully you can see the detail from the phone pictures above.

For these pictures you will need:

Card Stock: 9 x 9″ Soft Sky, 8 x 8″ Whisper White for the background. Whisper White, Crumb cake for the file tab panels.

Stamp sets: Gorgeous Grunge, Simply Stars

Ink Pads: Soft Sky, Crumb Cake

Love the Glitter Paper – using Stampin’ Up! ® products

I have been bogged down in business admin the last few days and as a result had lost my mojo. To take a break (hmmm break or procrastination?), I had a “quick” look on Stampin Connection, which is a bit like Pinterest and Facebook rolled into one for Stampin’ Up! demonstrators world wide. A card by Julia Pitta in the US caught my eye (you can see Julia’s card here) and inspired me to get my craft supplies out and have a play.

This is the result. It’s very different to Julia’s card. I think it was the chevron’s pointing towards the heart on her card that made me think of the arrow going through the heart.

Anyway, I had fun making this card. It probably felt more fun as I was supposed to be doing admin! Well that’s still waiting for me to plough through this evening once the bedlam brothers are in bed!
For this project you will need:
Card Stock: Silver and Red Glimmer paper, Real Red, Basic Black and Whisper White card stock
Stamp Set: Gorgeous Grunge
Ink: Real Red
Punches: Full heart and Chevron punch,
Dies: Expressions Thinlits (available in the Autumn/Winter Catalogue until February 1st)
Tools: Paper-Piercing, Stampin’ Pierce Mat and Essentials Paper Piercing Pack
