Kinda Eclectic from Stampin’ Up!

As soon as I saw the Kinda Eclectic rubber stamp set in the new Stampin’ Up!® catalogue I knew I wanted it – not only because it has two butterflies in it, but also because of the large sunburst stamp. When my order arrived on Monday, it was the first (and only one so far) I reached for. I will get to the others though, never fear.  I have some lovely ideas for the new Garden Party stamp set, so that one will be next on my list to try!

I did two versions of this card. The first is heat embossed so I could sponge ink around the sun burst. I first inked up my stamp with VersaMark and then Daffodil Delight on top of the VersaMark before stamping down on the card stock. The Daffodil Delight goes down first with the VersaMark on top. I then covered the image with clear embossing powder and heated with my heat tool. Once it had cooled I sponged Soft Sky gently in circular motions give a hint of blue sky.

I simply stamped the sun burst in Daffodil Delight for this one. I think I prefer the first – its kinda hazy round the sun. Which one do you prefer?

I coloured some rhinestones with the darkest Daffodil Delight Blendabilities just to add a little bling.

Well the boys are all back to school and playgroup today. I might try to sneak in some crafting rather than doing the house work!

For the projects above you will need the following Stampin’ Up! supplies:
Rubber Stamps: Kinda Eclectic wood or clear, Sentiment from the Hip Hip Hooray Card Kit

And now for something borrowed and blue using Stampin’ Up! products

Yay it’s nearly the weekend. I hope you have a glorious one planned peeps! And now for my final instalment in this week’s non wedding theme – something old, something new, something borrowed and blue. Yeah I know all very tenuous lol! I hope you’ve enjoyed the creative inspiration anyway!

So just to explain this theme – the blue is probably obvious given the card is predominantly stamped with various shades of Stampin’ Up! blues – Island Indigo, Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana, with a splash of Melon Mambo and the new Daffodil Delights Blendabilities thrown in. The borrowed comes from the fact that this card was inspired by the make and take, that my fellow Pinkie Elaine Matthews, made for a recent training event organised by my upline Michelle Last. I hardly ever finish the make and takes at training as I am so busy catching up with everyone and I forgot to take a picture of Elaine’s lovely project – so I decided to create a simplified version from memory! I hope you like it.

I used the following Stampin’ Up! projects for this card:

Rubber Stamps: Swallowtail wood or clear, Gorgeous Grunge wood or clear, sentiment from Hip Hip Hooray Card Kit
Card Stock: Whisper White, Bermuda Bay
Ink: Island Indigo, Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana, Melon Mambo
Tools: Chevron Border Punch, Daffodil Delight Blendabilities (coming soon)

I stamped all the stamps in the set over the card front in various colours (all listed in the ingredients list below).
I’ve got about 15 or so more to make – good job they are so quick and easy!
Now for the exciting part – the blog giveaway winner. I had a message from Sam who was trying to enter a comment but for some reason it wouldn’t post, so I have included her in the numbers to be fair. That meant there were 8 comments and the winner is ……
The third comment was from Delphine! Well done Delphine! Thank you so much for following my blog and leaving comments. I will be in touch to get your DSP to you!

Hip Hip Hooray I’m Getting Organised!! – using Stampin’ Up! ® products

Unusually for me, this year, I made a New Year’s Resolution to be more organised in both my personal and business lives. Normally I don’t make resolutions as I generally don’t tend to stick to them, but I’m actually doing ok so far!

Firstly, I got up to date with all my Business admin, diving head first into excel spreadsheets and a free mind mapping software (called Xmind) to organise my classes and parties better. Mind mapping is just a tool to link related topics together using a main topic and then subtopics that are attached to it. I find it easier than trying to keep things in lists as they tend to get all jumbled up and messy. I can now keep all the information about the class/party such as the projects, pictures of the projects and instruction documents linked in one handy document.

Once I was caught up with everything, I wanted to make sure I stayed on top of it all, which requires planning and scheduling things in to fit around family life. When it comes to diary management though I am strictly an old fashioned paper girl.

Firstly I dug out an old A5 Filofax I had stuck in a drawer and, to keep it a bit more lively and interesting, I printed off some colourful month and week planners I found on Pinterest, as well as some blog planning pages. They aren’t really designed for A5 though, and there are a few things I want to add,  so I will be designing my own in MDS soon. I’ve added it to my To Do list!

I created some dividers, as well, using the Envelope punch board to create the File Tabs. I decorated them with the Sale-a-bration Petal Parade stamp set and the ABC – 123 Outline Alphabet stamps from the annual catalogue. What do you think? I really like them and it certainly brightens up my Filofax.

As well as my Filofax, I bought some spiral bound Kraft notebooks. I prefer spiral bound so you can tear pages out if necessary, without destroying a whole note book. The arrival of the new Hip Hip Hooray Kit was perfect timing to decorate them.

The kit is fantastic and I love it. It contains everything (and I mean everything) you need to make 20 cards. Its got card bases and envelopes, pretty stickers to decorate, a sentiment stamp set with 3 different stamps, an acrylic block for the stamps, a Basic Grey ink spot and some other embellishments too. It is perfect for beginners, but seasoned crafters will love it too, especially for a last minute card required in a hurry.
