Christmas Bags (Part 2) – Bags, Tags and Boxes Week

Christmas Bags (Part 2)– Bags, Tags and Boxes Week

When I was at OnStage Live the other week, one of the demonstrations on the stage was of a gusseted bag made using the Stampin’ Up! mini treat bag thinlits. I wrote down the directions, as I’d not made them before. They are really easy to make and so I thought along with the gusseted Christmas Bags I’ve made for my Bags, Tags and Boxes week today, I would also create a little photo tutorial for you. Yes you’re welcome! 😉

I created two Christmas bags, one two tone and one monochrome. I love how these turned out – what do you think? Pretty right? Which one’s your favourite?

I used the Sparkly Seasons ZigZag image and Seasonal Frames framelits to cut out the bauble, which has an ombre watercolour look. I used Pool Party, Lost Lagoon and Island Indigo markers to colour the stamp before spritzing with water and stamping.

For the Whisper White bag I ran the front panel through the Big Shot using the Softly Falling Embossing Folder.

For the Lost Lagoon and Whisper White bag, I first cut out two additional front panels (removing the bottom flap) before then embossing with Softly Falling – take a look at the Photo Tutorial below and you’ll see what I mean!

For the Basic Christmas Bag

Step 1: Cut two of the front and side panels using the largest thinlit and cut a piece of card to 4cm x 9.4cm (this is for the bottom of the treat bag);

Step 2. Cut off the zig zag top of the side panel on both pieces;

Step 3. Line up the side score line along the 2cm line of your Stampin’ Trimmer and score;

Step 4. Line up the side score line along the 4cm line of your Stampin’ Trimmer and score;

Step 5. Place a strip of double sided sticky tape along the side score lines of the side pieces and the bottom flaps;

Step 6. Burnish all scored lines. Mountain fold the outer two score lines on the side panel and valley fold the middle this will create the gusseted sides;

Step 7. Assemble the treat bags by first sticking the two front and side pieces together down one of the sides and the bottom panel to one of the bottom flaps;

Step 8. Fold the remaining sides over to meet to create the bag and adhere the remaining bottom flap to the  4cm x 9.4cm piece of card.

N.B. If you are decorating the front of the bags, either by embossing or stamping, you need to do this before you assemble them.

Wow it’s a long post today! Here’s the weekly deals for you! I have a little confession – I have the fun frames embossing folders and I haven’t used them yet! I will have to crack them open and get playing now for sure!

OnStage Live Swaps using Lighthearted Leaves from Stampin’ Up!

Mini Treat Bag Swaps made for OnStage Live using Gorgeous Grunge and Lighthearted Leaves from Stampin’ Up!

Well I’m back from Brussels and OnStage Live! So now I can share the swaps I made using Lighthearted Leaves from Stampin’ Up! I created mini treat bags using the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits and white envelope paper from the Neutrals envelope paper collection. I based the design on the Thank You card I created a while back using Lighthearted Leaves teamed up with Gorgeous Grunge.

I had a fantastic time in Brussels! I loved the new format for the Stampin’ Up! event, formerly known as convention. There were lots of fabulous, gorgeous new products to see, which I’m sure you will love! I can’t show you them just yet as there are still some events going on, but I will give you a sneak peek soon.

Let me show you my swaps before I go off on a tangent!

I made 40 of them – 20 in each colour. Which one do you prefer?

This one uses Blushing Bride and Calypso Coral. I stamped the main leaf in Calypso Coral card using Calypso Coral ink, before adding highlights with a white gel pen.

This one is stamped in Pool Party, Island Indigo and Night of Navy. I’ve never used Night of Navy much before, but seem to be liking it more and more. This one is my favourite. I cut the leaves out using the Leaflets Framelits.

I also filled the treat bags with Hot Chocolate powder, a few chocolate chips and mini marshmallows!

The Bedlam Brothers kept buzzing around the bags with the chocolate chips and marshmallows in prior to me getting round to making my swaps. They were very concerned there wouldn’t be enough left for them, so I made them up a bag each and I will make them a Christmas themed treat bag to put them in! 🙂

Little monkeys – they did miss me whilst I was away and I got lots of cuddles when I got back!

Well I hope you like my swaps. If you like the Lighthearted Leaves stamp set, be sure to order it now as it will be gone by the end of December. The full list of retiring products is here, so be sure to take a look and order the items you want before it’s too late.

Also there is a fantastic offer on at the moment, so check that out as well!

Painted Petals Card & Mini Treat Gift Bag

Congratulations Card and co-ordinating gift bag using Stampin’ Up! Painted Petals Stamp set and Mini Treat Bag Thinlits™ Dies.

Good morning everyone, how are you today? I’s a lovely start to the week, after a very chilly day yesterday, it’s promising to warm up considerably. And I have a lovely warm, spring-like project to share with you today.

I stamped the sentiment from Sassy Salutations onto Kraft card stock using Versamark ink and then clear embossed it. I then stamped the shimmer white card stock with Daffodil Delight and Old Olive for the flowers from the Painted Petals stamp set ,before rolling the edges of the stamps in gold ink and stamping over the top. I love the photopolymer stamp sets as they make techniques like this so easy.

I made the little gift bag from the brown packing paper that comes in Stampin’ Up! orders, using the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits™ Dies.

My Stampin’ Up! Spring/Summer Top 10 – No. 6 Mini Treat Bag Thinlits

Good morning everyone – I can’t believe it’s Wednesday already! Time is flying isn’t it? After a slight blip, I’m back with my Stampin’ Up! ® Spring/Summer Top 10. Today’s projects are using No. 6 in the list, the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Dies. I love this set. It’s going to be so versatile. I’ve already seen pins on Pinterest where other demonstrators have created gusseted (I think that’s the right term) sides, to make the little bags a bit roomier, so I’ll be checking those out properly soon and giving it a go too.

In the meantime here’s a few little treat bags I came up with. I hope you like them.

The Perpetual Birthday Calendar Photopolymer stamp set is ideal for decorating these little bags.

I used the brown packing paper that comes in the boxes with Stampin’ Up! orders to make this bag. Needless to say, I have plently of the stuff around, so will be making more of these for sure.

I kept this one empty so you could see the subtle stampin in Blushing Bride ink. The 1 1/4″ (3.2cm) White Jute Ribbon is becoming a firm favourite, considering I’m not usually that fussed with ribbon. Also the Butterflies Thinlits are kind of obligatory for me :-).

I couldn’t resist a Valentine’s version. As I said, it’s such a versatile set. All the shapes were cut using the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits.
