Create with Connie & Mary #CCMC404
It’s Thursday, which means it’s time for the weekly challenge over at Create with Connie & Mary #CCMC404. This week it’s a colour challenge!
The card I’ve ended up with is the third card I made. The other two just didn’t cut the mustard! I don’t know why, but I was determined to make my own background for the card, using the colours in the challenge. I tried different sized stripes in all 3 colours using masking tape and sponges, but I didn’t like the end result. I then tried making my own plaid background but that ended in disaster too 😂.
So then I decided to only use two of the colours for the background. And then I thought dots and circles would be good! I settled on the Calypso Coral and Smoky Slate and used two pencils with erasers on the end and my Calypso Coral ink pad to make the dots. I then decided to use the open circles from the new Playful Backgrounds stamp set with the Smoky Slate to stamp over the top of the dots. Amazingly some of the randomly stamped dots lined up with the circles!
I dyed a piece of White Baker’s Twine Night of Navy on my ink pad – I had over filled it and so I thought this was a good way of using up some of the excess ink. It took a while to dry, but when it was, I wrapped it around my background panel and adhered the panel to a piece of Night of Navy card stock. The baker’s twine unfortunately looks black in the photo but it doesn’t in real life!
I stamped the sentiment from Tin of Cards in Night of Navy and cut it out, along with a mat of Calypso Coral card stock, using the Tags and Labels Framelits Dies and mounted it over the middle of the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
For once I’m really happy with a card I’ve made for a colour challenge! Woohoo! Hope you like it too!
