Simply Sketched meets Watercolour Background – using Stampin’ Up! ® products

Following on from Monday’s post with the two Butterfly watercolour cards, I have another card today, using a watercolour background I did at the same time.

And guess what?  Friday’s post will also be a watercolour background. I got a bit carried away maybe, but I was having fun! I hope you like today’s offering:

I water coloured the background using the same 3 colours as previously – Soft Sky, Pool Party and Marina Mist. Once dry I over-stamped with the Off the Grid stamp and then stamped the Poppy from Simply Sketched (Hostess only set, available in wood and clear) using StazOn White ink. I then water coloured the poppy using Real Red. I cut out the frame using the polaroid type framelit from the On Film Framelits set. The sentiment is also from Simply Sketched which is attached to the frame using an Essentials Hardware Clip. The image is mounted onto a Coastal Cabana card base.

I hope you like it. The watercolour backgrounds are so easy to create with re-inkers and the aqua painters
I’ll be back Friday with the last watercolour in this mini-series.

Gorgeous and Pretty Grunge using Stampin’ Up! ® products

I’ve been feeling indecisive the last couple of weeks. It may be that we are all feeling a bit unsettled at home at the moment, with starting school and a new playgroup – oh and some teething thrown in to keep us all awake at night too!!

Anyway I wanted to share the projects we made last Thursday in class. As I said, I have been a bit indecisive lately and this reflected itself in trying to choose the colour scheme for my designs. I love girly, feminine designs but its not something that I normally tend to make myself. I seem to end up at the clean and simple end of the craft theme spectrum, but I really wanted to use some ribbon and come up with a pretty look. I tried out to colour schemes and I really like both. I wasn’t sure which one the ladies would prefer so in the end I decided to let them chose which one they wanted to make. Both schemes were chosen and one lady even decided to mix it up a little and do combine the two.

My first colour scheme was Soft Suede and Blushing Bride. I used Blushing Bride Core’dinations Card Stock for the tag, which I sanded prior to stampin with Soft Suede ink. The background is Gorgeous Grunge stamped in Whisper White Craft ink. I think the Chevron ribbon is the perfect ribbon for this tag!

I then tried out Crumb Cake and Marina Mist. This time I heat embossed the image on the Core’dinations tag. The background is Gorgeous Grunge stamped in Crumb Cake. I also stamped the poppy from Simply Sketched on the card, first in crumb cake and then I overstamped with Versamark and heat embossed in white. I removed some of the versamark from the stamp before stamping to get a broken image to show some of the crumb cake ink below.

I have a confession! There was originally a celophane bag in the Marina Mist one with some chocoloate in. They didn’t last long enough to make it into the photo! Ooops.
We also made another card with some DSP but I seem to have neglected to take any photos of those. I will have to get them out and take some pictures in the morning when the light is better.
For now though, if you would like to make these projects you can buy all the products used in my Online store here (Click the Shop button top right once you’re on my Stampin’ Up! site). Simply Sketched – a Hostess Gift set

Well after the battle of bedtime on Saturday night, my youngest was up at 5 am Sunday morning! That obviously meant that so was I! By 8:30 am he was shattered so I put him back to bed – lucky him! He slept for 3 hours and my husband spent the time with our eldest son leaving me free to play.

Ever since I got the hostess set Simply Sketched I have wanted to make a notecard gift set to use as the Hostess gift at a party. This set can only be purchased with Hostess Rewards.  I have also wanted to try watercolouring with the poppy in the set. I love poppies and I especially love watercolour paintings of poppies.  I started off by stamping onto watercolour paper using black stazon ink and colouring the flower in with the aqua painters and some ink from the reinkers but I didn’t like the results.

Not giving up though I decided to try out the Stampin’ Write Markers. I coloured the real red and old olive ones directly onto the stamp before spritzing the stamp with water. I then stamped the image onto whisper white card stock.

The first couple of tries I used a bit too much water but I have used the images anyway as I really like them.

I also used the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set and honeycomb embossing folder for the background. The sentiment is also from a hostess set, Express Yourself.

I used Pear Pizazz as the background as a contrast to the Old Olive layer. I also only embossed a small section of the card by using a strip of cardboard placed over the outside of the embossing folder. I ran it through the bigshot on the multipurpose platform with all tabs closed, but only using one cutting plate instead of two.

I finished off the cards by cutting out the flowers and coloured card layers using the new squares framelits and adding some of the new candy dots.
