How many retiring Stampin’ Up! stamp sets can you get on one card?

Good morning everyone. It’s a lovely sunny day today. We’re not back into the normal school routine though as my eldest son got chicken pox last week, on his 5th birthday poor thing, so he’s not back to school yet.

Well on with the show. The answer to the question in the title is in fact 4. Yes I’m sad to say Simply Stars, Off the Grid, Film Strip and Express Yourself are all on the retiring list! I’m happy to say that Gorgeous Grunge, however, is here to stay! Yippee – that one is one of my favourites.

The silver glimmer paper is also retiring, but will be back in a slightly different form in the new catalogue! Again it’s another favourite so I am happy its not disappearing altogether.

I know that products on the retiring list in the US sold out fairly quickly, so if there is anything on the list that you have had your eye on, I would advise placing and order for it sooner rather than later!

The new catalogue is out on July 1st, but if you can’t wait until then to get your hands on some of the gorgeous new goodies, why not join my team either at the normal price starter kit priced at 129€/£99 (175€/£130 product value) or with the limited time offer starter kit of 65€/£50 for which you can choose 70€/£55 of product value. A great gift for a little boy using Stampin’ Up! Simply Stars

Good morning everyone. And how are you all this fine day? It is my youngest son’s 3rd birthday today and as I mentioned on Monday, I am sharing a gift, today, that I have made for him myself.

After making these picture frames for all my friends’ children’s birthdays, I felt it was high time to make my own sons a picture each for their birthdays. My eldest son has a birthday coming up in 3 weeks and he will get his then.

They are very simple gifts to make and use very little in the way of product. However, I think they are fantastic gifts and certainly all my friends have been pleased with them too.

I simply cut out the letters and glued them in place before stamping the stars randomly around  them. Then I stamped another set of stars, cut them out, popped them on dimensionals and stuck them over the stars I had already stamped around the name. I then layered the picture on top of Real Red and popped it in the box frame. Simply Simple Stars!!

The products I used are:

Card Stock: Whisper White, Real Red, Pacific Point
Inks: Real Red, Pacific Point
Stamps: Simply Stars wood or clear.
Other: Stampin’ Dimensionals, Typeset Alphabet Bigz

I hope you like today’s project. Thanks for stopping by – see you soon.

Birthday Cards for kids using Stampin’ Up! Simply Gorgeous stamps

Good morning everyone. Hope you have had a wonderful weekend and are still having a wonderful weekend if you are in the UK. The weather has been great, which is unusual for a May bank holiday in the UK!

Well today’s post is a bright and cheery card I made for a bright and cheery little boy’s 5th birthday. For his Christmas present, I had made him one of my homemade gifts of a box frame, which had his name with stars surrounding it. I had mentioned these pictures back in February, with the intention of blogging about them, but it seems to have completely slipped my mind, so I will be posting a picture of the one I am making for my own son’s birthday on Wednesday.

Anyways, I had wanted to make this little boy a similar birthday card to the Christmas present and this is what I came up with! It’s using the same primary colours scheme red, yellow and blue aka Real Red, Daffodil Delight and Pacific Point!

I even stamped the inside for once.

I didn’t make the gift for the birthday present unfortunately, but I did jazz up the gift wrap using the Tag a Bag Accessory Kit, and tied it in to the card by using a star from the Simply Stars set.

I hope you have enjoyed today’s project. Yesterday I was browsing through one of the Pinkie team Facebook pages and came across this card made by one of my team mates Paula. It’s uncanny, how similar our cards are so just had to share it with you. She made her card for a 50 year old male. Goes to show how versatile these stamp sets are!

For the card and gift embellishments you will need:
Stamps: Simply Stars wood or clear, Gorgeous Grunge wood or clear
Card stock: Whisper White, Real Red
Embellishments: Tag a Bag Accessory Kit
Thanks for stopping by. Pop over and say hi to Paula too! See you Wednesday

Simply Stars and Gorgeous Grunge – using Stampin’ Up! ® products

Two of my favourite stamp sets are combined in the picture I made below. I had an Ikea frame on my fireplace, with a picture in it that I have never really liked. So when I saw this card, that a German demonstrator posted on her blog, Anja-Basteleien, replacing that picture sprang to mind.

Initially I was going to just completely case it as is, but I was also working on a butterfly picture as a birthday present for one of my son’s school friends, so I decided to do something a little different instead. I hope you like it.

I used mostly grey shades (Smoky Slate, Basic Grey with a little silver thrown in too), but injected a little colour with Bermuda Bay.

And here is where it lives – on top of a redundant fireplace in my dining room.

For this project you will need:
Card Stock: Smonky Slate 12×12″ – cut to 9×9″ for the background, Whisper White cut to 8×8″. Whisper white for the stars, Silver Glimmer Paper.
Ink: Smoky Slate, Basic Grey, Bermuda Bay
Stamps: Gorgeous Grunge, Simply Stars
Embellishments: Linen Twine, Rhinstones

Simply Stars and Babies – using Stampin’ Up! ® products

I had seen this scrapbook layout by Jenni Pauli months ago and had it pinned on my Scrapbook page ideas Pinterest board waiting for the opportunity to do some scrapbooking of the Bedlam Brothers’ baby pictures. I never seem to find the time though – which seems to be an age old problem for everyone these days!

Then, back in October one of my friends had a baby boy and bingo that layout popped into my mind. I have been making various pictures for friends little girls and boys using the Ikea Ribba box frames for their birthdays so it wasn’t just a random thought, although I do have a lot of random thoughts!! (lol). Anyways, I thought one of those with all the baby’s details would be an ideal gift.

Instead of using circle punches though I cut out the stars that I had stamped from the Simply Stars set – by hand!! Actually it didn’t take that long really.

First I stamped Gorgeous Grunge and Simply Stars over Whisper White background sheet and then I mounted the baby picture onto Whisper White and Crumb cake card stock and shaped the file tabs using the envelope punch board. The baby’s details are printed in Island Indigo beside the baby picture but I have masked them out of my photo.

My friend loved it so much, she asked me to make her one for her older son too!

I forgot to take photos with my camera but hopefully you can see the detail from the phone pictures above.

For these pictures you will need:

Card Stock: 9 x 9″ Soft Sky, 8 x 8″ Whisper White for the background. Whisper White, Crumb cake for the file tab panels.

Stamp sets: Gorgeous Grunge, Simply Stars

Ink Pads: Soft Sky, Crumb Cake

Envelope Punch Board Class Projects – using Stampin’ Up! ® products

Well I gave you a sneak peek, at the beginning of the week, of one of the projects we were going to be making last night at my Envelope punch board class. We made two projects with the board – a decorated gift box and a Christmas Cracker.

Here’s the Gift Box in it’s full glory.

I had seen a tutorial on Pinterest ages ago, that just made it so simple. Once you’ve learned how to make one you can just play around with measurements to make all sorts of sizes! You’ll find the Pin on Pinterest here.  I added my own touches with the decoration and I love the rosette on the top of the box. It’s dual purpose – decorative, as well as functional, as it fastens the box shut with a velcro dot.

For this project you will need:
    Cardstock/DSP – Island Indigo textured 12 x 12 132132, Winter Frost Speciality DSP 132341, Coastal Cabana 131302
    Stamps – Very Merry Tags (W) 130393, © 130402
Ink – Metallic Encore Pad Silver 132142
    Punch – Mosaic 131267
The ladies in the class loved the envelope punch board too, even though we didn’t actually make an envelope with it!
Finally we made a Christmas card (although not using the board).
For this project you will need:
Card Stock – Whisper White (106549), Coastal Cabana 131302
    Stamps – Christmas Star, Simply Stars (W) 130389 (C) 130893
    Inks – Versamark 102283, Coastal Cabana 131175
Tools – Paper Piercing Tool 126189, Stampin’ Pierce Mat 126199, Paper Piercing Pack Essentials 126187, Heat tool (UK) 129054 (EU) 129055, White embossing powder 109132
    Embellishments – Basic Rhinestones 119246
The feedback from the class on the projects was great. So if you are local to Pinner and fancy a creative evening once a month in a relaxed and friendly environment, then we would love for you to join us. Click here for more details.

Stars & Stripes ( ok Stitching really, not stripes)

     Hey, how’re you doing?

At time of writing I am currently in the midst of the battle of bedtime with the Bedlam brothers.  The eldest insists on wrapping himself up tight in the sheet completely covering his head as well, whilst the youngest just refuses to stay in bed. He keeps getting out and hiding in the little Ikea tent they have in their bedroom.  Eventually he will wear himself out and fall asleep, but not before he’s worn me out too. Unfortunately no matter how late he gets off to sleep, he’s up unreasonably early the next day too. Grrr – no lie in for me then!

Anyway, I wanted to share a card that is a mix of two that I cased (copy and share everything) from Pinterest.

    Here’s my card:

Stampin up demonstrator card making simply stars gorgeous grunge

And here is the first card I cased with hearts instead of stars. The stars and grunge idea came from this card. I chose the colour scheme of old olive and cherry cobbler after receiving my Seasonal Happiness (new SU autumn/winter catalogue) this week in the post.

Stampin up demonstrator card making simply stars gorgeous grunge

For the stitching on the card, I used my paper piercer and Essentials paper piercing template and then hand sewed through the holes, as I do not own a sewing machine. I got put off sewing when I was at school as my needlework teacher didn’t seem to like me. She certainly was not amused when I stitched the apron we were making to my school tie and she had to unpick it for me. I thought it was hilarious. Well you do when you’re 11/12 years old don’t you?  In fairness I was probably one of many who had done it and so she was fed up with having to unpick all those tiny stitches!

Well I hope you like the project. All has gone quiet upstairs so I’m off to check they are finally asleep 🙂
