A Bold Butterfly by Stampin’ Up!

A Bold Butterfly by Stampin’ Up!

Happy Thursday folks! I’m back with this lovely sketch challenge for Create with Connie & Mary this week. I had a piece of watercolour paper left over from a previous challenge where I had used the watercolour pencils to create the strip instead of using DSP. Waste not, want not – as the saying goes! So I thought I would use that as my starting point for this week’s challenge. The sentiment is from Thankful Thoughts and was stamped before I adhered the card front to the card base.

I teamed it up with a gold glitter butterfly that I cut using the Bold Butterfly by Stampin’ Up! Framelits dies. I also used Stitched Shapes Framelits and the Watercolor Wings stamp set. First, I cut out the square using the Stitched Shapes Framelits (I made sure to use the right one for the stamp). Then I used my Bermuda Bay, Melon Mambo and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Write markers to colour in one of the smaller butterflies from Watercolor Wings. I sprayed it with some water before stamping. Once it was dry I added the gold glitter butterfly and adhered it with some Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Luckily none of these products are on the retiring list!

Botanical Builders and Polka Dot by Stampin’ Up!

Botanical Builders and Polka Dot by Stampin’ Up!

Hello there, it’s Thursday again and time for a Sketch challenge this week over at Create with Connie & Mary. I decided to stick fairly closely to the sketch this week.

The sun has been out and I’m even thinking about getting the summer clothes out! Woohoo! So I’ve gone with summery colours to use with my CAS card! What do you think?

Botanical Builders and Polka Dot by Stamping' Up! Tracy May

I’m really pleased with the way this card has turned out and I love the colour scheme. The card background is embossed using the Polka Dot embossing folder on Pool Party cardstock. The pink striped DSP is from Pop of Pink and the Flowers and leaves are all cut out using the Botanical Builders framelits. Such an easy card to put together!

Please do pop over to the Create with Connie & Mary challenge blog to see what the rest of the design team have come up with!

Thanks for stopping by. Don’t forget to check out the retiring list as well!

Butterflies Thinlits by Stamping’ Up!

Butterflies Thinlits by Stamping’ Up! #CCMC451

Hellooooo! Yes it’s Thursday again and time for a sketch challenge over at Create with Connie & Mary! Today I’m using the Butterfly Thinlits by Stamping’ Up! Why? Well the sun was shining when I made this card. And the weather is warming up….. so spring is on the way which makes me think butterflies!

Butterflies Thinlits by Stamping' Up! Tracy May #CCMC451

So I’m really pleased with the way my card has turned out today. And I think it’s just so clean and simple and the colours really pop! The simple colour scheme was dictated by my choice of DSP. I really wanted to use up some of my Pop of Pink DSP, which consists of black, white, pink and a touch of gold!

The black and white striped panel for the background is really striking. And the contrasting Melon Mambo butterfly really pops don’t you think? As I wanted to keep the card simple, I opted for the flowers from Awesomely Artistic, instead of a strip of DSP behind the main embellishment. I was inspired by a card I saw by Krista Driessen on her blog ZoKriss. Isn’t Krista awesomely talented? I really like her style.

Talking of style, why don’t you pop along to see what the rest of the lovely design team have made to inspire you today. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed!

Penned & Painted by Stamping’ Up!

Penned & Painted by Stamping’ Up!

Happy Thursday folks! It’s colour challenge this week at Create with Connie & Mary and I was certainly challenged. I made two cards for this challenge. The first was so dire, it ended up in the bin! The second is still a but meh! But I didn’t have time to make another, so here you go. I used Penned & Painted by Stamping’ Up! which is such a lovely stamp set I’m surprised I haven’t been able to do it justice today.

Penned & Painted by Stamping' Up! Tracy May #CCMC450

I started by stamping the flower “filler” from the set in So Saffront. Penned & Painted is a two-step stamp set with separate line stamps and colour block stamps. I’m not sure if that’s the correct term for them but hopefully you know what I mean. The stamping is kept within the bottom third of the card front, to follow the CAS rule of one third image, two thirds white space.

I thought it looked a bit too monotone, so I added the petals in Mint Macaron and over stamped with the Sweet Sugarplum. I then used the outline image and stamped the flower and leaves (in Memento Black) onto a scrap of whisper white, filled in the colours with the colour block or filler stamps and then cut them out. The sentiment is from Thankful Thoughts and is also stamped in Memento Black. We are allowed to add a neutral such as black in to colour challenges so it’s ok, I’m not cheating! Lol!

I finished by mounting the card front onto a panel of Mint Macaron which I added to a Whisper White card base. Et voila! What do you think? I do hope I’m just being overly critical of myself and that it is actually a nice card! Thanks for stopping by!

Vintage Leaves by Stamping’ Up! #CCMC448

Vintage Leaves by Stamping’ Up! #CCMC448

So what do you think of today’s colour challenge over at Create with Connie & Mary? As soon as I saw these colours, I knew I wanted to use the Vintage Leaves by Stamping’ Up! stamp set and create today’s card. I don’t know why though. Perhaps I have seen these colours on Pinterest or similar for a leafy card? Who knows? Anyway this is what I came up with (whilst hoping I haven’t inadvertently copied someone else!)

Vintage Leaves by Stamping' Up! Tracy May #CCMC448

I still need to sort out the software that I use to add my watermarks. For some reason it is compressing the image and making it look grainy! But hopefully it’s clear enough to see the layers I have created?

  • I started by stamping the leaves in Pool Party and then stamping over them with a splatter from Gorgeous Grunge in Smoky Slate and Chocolate Chip;
  • I then stamped off the leaves in Chocolate Chip and before stamping over the Pool Party leaves;
  • I stamped the large leaf in Chocolate Chip on a separate piece of Whisper White and then cut it out using the co-ordinatelu framelits dies;
  • I wrapped Linen thread around the card front and attached it to the leaf before tying in a bow;
  • The sentiment is from Thankful Thoughts and is also in Chocolate Chip’
  • I adhered the card front to a Smoky Slate card base!

So what do you think? I hope you like it! All in all it came together pretty easily.

Thanks for stopping by. Please do pop over and see what the rest of the lovely design team have come up with for you this week!

Touches of Texture by Stampin’ Up!

Touches of Texture by Stampin’ Up! #CCMC444

It’s a colour challenge over at Create with Connie & Mary.  I’ve reverted to my comfort zone of minimal use of colour and lots (and I mean lots) of white space. And I actually really like my card this week, which is unusual for me with a colour challenge! I used Touches of Texture by Stampin’ Up!. Simply because I love this set and I haven’t used it for a while. Also I think it’s a good one for use of minimal colour too!

Touches of Texture by Stampin' Up! Tracy May #CCMC444

So what do you think? I started off with a Whisper White panel (8.5cm x 12.5cm) onto which I stamped the flowers in Dapper Denim. I used one of the smallest stamps to colour the flowers in Peekaboo Peach.

The sentiment is stamped onto Crumb Cake in Dapper Denim from Thoughtful Banners and I cut it out using the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies. I finished off the card with some Linen thread (I separated the strands, so I could use a single strand thread, as it looked a bit too thick otherwise). A few Rhinestone jewels and the card is done! Very CAS (clean and simple).

Well I do hope you like it. Please do pop over to see what the rest of the design team have come up with this week for you!

Chase Your Dreams by Stampin’ Up!

Chase Your Dreams by Stampin’ Up! #CCMC443

Yay it’s Thursday and time for another challenge from Create with Connie & Mary. This week it’s a sketch challenge. Normally I am quite literal in my interpretation of the sketches. But this week, I decided to have some fun and go with a looser translation of it. I’ve used Chase Your Dreams by Stampin’ Up! and teamed it up with High Tide and Kinda Eclectic too!

Chase Your Dreams by Stampin' Up! #CCMC443

This was a really quick card to make once I’d decided on the design.

  • Using a post it note as a mask, stamp the sun from Kinda Eclectic twice but slightly offset from each other;
  • Stamp the sea waves stamp from High Tide in 2 different shades of blue ink all the way across the card front and over the top of the lower sun image;
  • Stamp the Sydney Opera House onto a scrap of Whisper White and cut it out;
  • The sentiment is from Thankful Thoughts;
  • Mount the card front on a Basic Black card base and then add the cut out Sydney Opera House raised up on Stampin’ Dimensionals!

This was a really fun card to make and I love how it’s turned out! I hope you like it to. Do pop along to Create with Connie and Mary to see what the rest of the design team have come up with this week!

Jolly Friends by Stampin’ Up!

Jolly Friends by Stampin’ Up! #CCMC431

I managed to get a bit of crafting done this week, so I’m actually all prepared now for all of the Create with Connie & Mary challenges for November! Woohoo! I think I’m finally settling into a new routine! Well maybe! Who knows? I’ve probably jinxed it now! Lol!

This week’s challenge is a sketch challenge and as you may have realised they are my favourite of the two types of challenge!

ccmc431

I actually managed two cards for this week’s challenge. I’ve gone with the festive card as my main one! I love Jolly Friends by Stampin’ Up! It’s such a fun, cute set and so I couldn’t resist using it for today’s project.

jolly-friends-by-stampin-up-ccmc431

Aren’t those elves and Santa just so cute? And I love the moose too! In fact I think he’s my favourite character in the set.  Which one is yours?

My second card is totally un-festive and unseasonal, but I love it! It’s using the very first stamp set I bought Papillon Potpourri from Stampin’ Up! I had only previously bought a few single wooden stamp sets before I discovered Stampin’ Up! 4 years ago. It was my 4th anniversary last week! I can’t believe it’s only been 4 years – it feels like a lot longer!

papillon-potpourri-by-stampin-up-ccmc431

I used So Saffron and Calypso Coral to go with the Soft Sky DSP. It makes for a lovely fresh, spring card! I will have to remember to use this colour combination next spring!

Well I hope you like today’s projects. Please do pop over to the Create with Connie & Mary challenge site and see what the rest of the designers have come up with this week!

Happy Heart by Stampin’ Up!

Happy Heart by Stampin’ Up! #GDP046

Hi there! I’m back today with a sweet thank you card using Happy Heart by Stampin’ Up! It’s my entry for the latest sketch challenge over at Global Design Project #GDP046.

GDP046

I’m still into my brayering over embossed panels at the moment! Forgive me, I’ll get over it soon lol! I started by embossing a panel of Whisper White card stock using Happy Heart by Stampin’ Up! I then created an ombre effect using Soft Sky, Pool Party and Bermuda Bay ink.

Happy Heart by Stampin' Up! Tracy May #GDP046

I mounted the panel onto a layer of Bermuda Bay, added the heart and ribbon at the top and then the sentiment to the side.

The sentiment is from Thankful Thoughts and is embossed in White Embossing Powder.

I’m sticking with my keep it simple approach still! What do you think? I hope you like it!

The Colour Purple – Remarkable You from Stampin’ Up!

The Colour Purple – Remarkable You from Stampin’ Up!

I’m sneaking in with a late post again today! I just don’t know where the day went. It seemed I had a never ending list of things to do and just didn’t manage to get to the part that said Blog Post! Anyway I’ve made it and I’m sharing my entry into the Less is More Colour Challenge which is the colour purple and I’m using Remarkable You from Stampin’ Up!

Remarkable You from Stampin' Up! Tracy May LIM #279 Colour - Purple_00001

I used Elegant Eggplant, which is a deep purple,  for all the stamping including the sentiment but it looks almost black in the photograph as does the strip of Elegant Eggplant down the left hand side!

I spritzed the inked stamp with water before stamping onto watercolour paper. I then “water coloured” the flower with my clear Wink of Stella pen. Once the flower was dry I picked up some watered down Elegant Eggplant ink and created the spatters. You can see the wink of stella splatters that were created once all the ink had come off the brush tip!

Remarkable You from Stampin' Up! Tracy May LIM #279 Colour - Purple_00002

Once all the splatters were dry, I stamped the sentiment from Thankful Thoughts and mounted the card onto a strip of Elegant Eggplant and then onto a Whisper White card base. I decided not to go for the usual border or card stock all the way round, but opted for a wider strip just on one side. I quite like the effect. What you think?

Do pop over to the Less is More challenge and take a look. I have been blown away by some of the amazing creations submitted. I’ve popped by and commented on a few! I just wish I had to time to visit everyone!!!

Thanks for stopping by!
