Vintage Leaves by Stampin’ Up!

Vintage Leaves by Stampin’ Up!

This week’s colour challenge over at the Create with Connie & Mary Challenge blog had me a little stumped at first I must say! The first card I made was ok – but it didn’t really appeal to me that much to be honest! Then I thought about the colours a bit more. They feel a bit autumnal to me, which is why I think I found them hard. I am trying to get into spring even though the weather in the UK has admittedly been very autumnal feeling so far. But hopefully warmer weather is just around the corner!

In the end on I settled on using Vintage Leaves by Stampin’ Up! And I actually really like the way this card turned out in the end. What do you think?

Vintage Leaves by Stampin' Up! Tracy May

I started by stamping the grid from Timeless Textures twice in Tip Top Taupe along the centre right of a Whisper White card front. Then I added some Mint Macaron splats also from Timeless Textures. I added a twirl of Old Olive Baker’s twine under a leaf from Vintage Leaves stamped in Old Olive.

The card base is Mint Macaron and the sentiment, from Thoughtful Banners, is stamped in Tip Top Taupe on Tip Top Taupe card stock.

To add some extra interest, I added some Rhinestones. Overall I like how it’s turned out. I will miss Mint Macaron and Tip Top Taupe when they retire at the end of May. They are great colours that have worked well for the last two years!

I hope you also like my creation for this week’s challenge. Please do pop over and see what the rest of the lovely design team have come up with to inspire you. Please do join in too – it’s great fun.

Thanks for stopping by! See you soon.

Sneak Peeks – Thankful Thoughts & Playful Backgrounds from Stampin’ Up!

Sneak Peeks – Thankful Thoughts & Playful Backgrounds from Stampin’ Up! Global Design Project #GDP032

It’s Global Design Project challenge time with #GDP032 Case the Designer. This week it’s the turn of the fabulously talented Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design team member Krista Frattin. Spoiler Alert! I’ve used Thankful Thoughts & Playful Backgrounds from Stampin’ Up! which are both new stamp sets coming in the next annual catalogue in June!

GDP032

This is Krista’s beautiful card that everyone is casing this week! She’s certainly a tough act to follow that’s for sure!

Thankful Thoughts & Playful Backgrounds from Stampin' Up! Global Design Project Tracy May #GDP032

I used most of the different elements from Krita’s card in my version, but changed the card to portrait and added some ink splats from Timeless Textures to break up the white a little. The stripes are from the new photopolymer stamp set Playful Backgrounds and the sentiment is from the Thankful Thoughts new sentiment stamp set.

So what do you think? I keep thinking I should have left it landscape, but then I’m never satisfied!! Anyway, I love playing along with the Global Design Project challenges. They are great fun! You should give them a go! I was one of the winners last week, with this card, woohoo!  😃😘😍That was a huge surprise and I didn’t realise until I got a couple of comments on my blog post congratulating me! Yeah I know – I’m useless aren’t I? Lol! 😉

Retiring Stampin’ Up! 2014-2016 In-Colors

Retiring Stampin’ Up! ® 2014-2016 In-Colors

I’m off to Telford today for the Stampin’ Up! On Stage Local event! So exciting – we get to see the new annual catalogue and there will be some new product to see as well! I can’t wait!

I thought I would make some cards using the Stampin’ Up! In-Colors 2014-2016, which will be retiring at the end of May. If you have them and haven’t already done so, stock up on the card stock and re-inkers as soon as you can. The retiring list is out next week, Tuesday, and the In-Colors always sell out within a few days!

I’ve teamed them up with a stamp set that I’m wondering whether it will be on the retiring list next week – Butterfly Basics. It’s a beautiful set and I’m not sure why I think it will retire, I just do! I could of course be absolutely wrong – I’m just speculating!

Butterfly Basics 2014-2016 In-Colors from Stampin' Up! Tracy May 02

As is usual for me when I try to use a lot of colour, I ended up with a very minimalist look! However, I did use each of the five colours on each of the cards in this post! Lol – it’s only taken me nearly two years! I think I will need to use the current In-Colors and the new ones a bit more frequently than I have these, they really are lovely colours and I’m now quite sad they are leaving us – but very excited to see the new ones too!

Butterfly Basics 2014 - 2016 In-colors from Stampin' Up! Tracy May 01

I threw in some washi tape on this one too and used one of my all time most beloved stamp sets Papillon Potpourri – it was the first Stampin’ Up! stamp set I bought!

Well I’d best be off and finishing packing! Have a great weekend. Come back next week to find out more about OnStage and of course the retiring list mid week!

Another Stampin’ Up! Colour Combination Challenge #CCMC402

Another Stampin’ Up! Colour Combination Challenge for Create with Connie & Mary #CCMC402

I’m back with another challenge for the Create with Connie & Mary Challenge Design Team. This week it is a colour challenge using the Stampin’ Up! Colour combination of Mint Macaron, Lost Lagoon and Soft Suede.

CCMC402

I love all these colours and didn’t think I would have any problems with them! And I had an idea in my mind using DSP and coloured card stock galore but try as I might I just couldn’t get it to work. And the more I tried the further away I got, from something I was happy with!

I seem to have a mental block when it comes to colour combinations and if I try to use a whole panel of colour via a designer series paper or a piece of card stock I get stuck and don’t know what to do with the rest of the card! I have noticed that I have a tendancy to go even more minimalistic and clean and simple than usual, when I’m faced with a colour challenge! Strange!!

Create with Connie & Mary Colour Challenge Card using Stampin' Up! Products Tracy May #CCMC402

Anyway, this is what I came up with!

  1. I stamped the grid and tea cup/coffee cup rings from Timeless Textures in Soft Suede ink onto the Whisper White card front and then stamped ink splats from Gorgeous Grunge in Lost Lagoon over the top.
  2. The sentiment is from Another Thank You and is stamped in Soft Suede and then mounted onto a small piece of Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper in Mint Macaron underneath it, all over the top of some Gold Metallic thread.
  3. I stamped the butterfly from Kinda Eclectic in Mint Macaron and punched it out using the Itty Bitty Butterfly Punch and stuck it over the gold thread.
  4. Finally I used a piece of Soft Suede Designer Series paper from the Neutrals DSP 12×12″ stack and mounted the card front onto that to create the border, before mounting the whole thing onto a card base.

I know it looks super easy, and seriously now I have the design I could recreate this again in 5 minutes, but trust me a whole lot of effort went into this card 😂. I do love it though – it’s always great feeling coming up with a design I’m happy with when I’ve felt challenged!

I hope you like it to and be sure to check out the rest of the design team’s projects this week over at Create with Connie & Mary! And please do join us and play along!

Thanks for stopping by!

Thank You Card using Stampin’ Up! Products

Thank You Card using Stampin’ Up! Products for #GDP030

I said in yesterday’s post I thought I would be chasing my tail this week and I am! Luckily my husband is off though and he took the Bedlam Brothers off for the morning, so I could take a 1-2-1 class and then finish off my card for this week’s Global Design Project Sketch Challenge. It’s another thank you card using Stampin’ Up! products, but you can never have enough thank you cards in my opinion!

Sketch Challenge

It’s a great sketch, this week, but I had problems deciding what to feature i.e. a heart as in the sketch, flower, butterfly, balloon…. All the design team have covered them all so beautifully, I didn’t quite know which way to turn! In the end I settled on a butterfly. I think because the sun is shining and spring is now a distinct possibility and that brings butterflies to my mind (ok,…. yeah….. flowers would have been a more obvious choice! Lol!)

Thank You Card using Stampin' Up! Products Bold Butterfly Framelits Tracy May #GDP030

Bizarrely the green in the sketch also reminded me a bit of Mint Macaron, so I chose that as one of my base colours, along with Tip Top Taupe and Watermelon Wonder for the water coloured butterfly cut using the Bold Butterfly Framelits.

I’m going to try and get better organised tonight once the Bedlam Brothers are in bed, and finish up the rest of my blog posts for this week, so I can enjoy the rest of their school holiday with them…..well that’s the plan anyway! 😁

I hope you like today’s project. It should have been quick but I gave up on trying last night and tackled it again after my class this morning was over. Turned out well in the end though didn’t it? 👍

Butterflies & Timeless Textures from Stampin’ Up! #GDP021

I’ve got two cards featuring Butterflies & Timeless Textures from Stampin’ Up! for you today. The first one I’m entering into the Global Design Project Colour Challenge #GDP021

GDP021

I’m not very good at colour challenges. I find them ….well… challenging! Ha ha ha! I decided I would see what using the baby wipe ink pad technique would produce. I thought the flourish from Timeless Textures would make a good starting point. First I splattered some plain white card fronts with drops of the 3 colours…. and decided not to use them at all!!!! 😬 Not to worry, I’m sure they’ll come in handy for something else!

Butterflies & Timeless Textures Stampin' Up! Tracy May #GDP021

For this card I decided on one butterfly in Melon Mambo. The sentiment is stamped and heat embossed on to the Free Sale-a-bration Botanical Gardens Vellum and mounted over a strip of Wisteria Wonder.

Butterflies & Timeless Textures Stampin' Up! Tracy May #GDP021

The next card was assembled under strict instructions from my 4 year old who is off sick from school at the moment. He was sat under my table as I was creating the cards. I had to keep sticking the card under the table to get his approval of what colour butterflies and where to put them! Ha ha ha

Obviously this one is his favourite and he did a great job I think! Ha ha ha

I hope you like today’s projects. Be sure to check out all the other lovely entries too!

Card ideas for Picture Perfect from Stampin’ Up!

Card ideas for Picture Perfect from Stampin’ Up!

I’m back with more Card ideas for Picture Perfect from Stampin’ Up!. You can see the other cards I have made using this wonderful stamp set in this post and this post. I love this stamp set. I immediately thought of old black and white or sepia photos when I saw it, which is probably what the designers had in mind given the name! Lol!

It took a couple of attempts of playing around with the colours on the hummingbird before I got the effect I was after and I still have other ideas in mind to try out too! But take a look and let me know what you think.

I used Timeless Textures again for this card! Don’t worry Gorgeous Grunge I have not forgotten you! Lol! I first stamped the frame around the card and then used the grid stamp to mimic a trellis on a garden wall or fence.

I used the flourish or fleur de lit stamp to mimic a creeper plant that a hummingbird would feed from. My friend I made the card for loved it thankfully!

I made another version at the same time using a different colour scheme. I love both but think they grey one is my favourite. How about you – which do you prefer?

My friend’s husband was with her, when I gave her the card and he was very impressed with the stamp sets used and how they work to build up the image. He’s very artistic so the whole process is very interesting to him and we ended up talking about Stampin’ Up! and how I had ended up joining as a Demonstrator and how much I love it -see my About Me page for my (short) story 🙂 – and how much I enjoy sharing Stampin’ Up! through my classes and my blog!

Picture Perfect & Timeless Textures from Stampin’ Up!

Picture Perfect & Timeless Textures from Stampin’ Up! – Sneak Peak from the upcoming Spring/Summer 2016 Catalogue

The last couple of days have been spent in admin mode. A friend had offered to have the boys over for a playdate with her two children the other day and rather than dive into all the new stamp sets from the Spring/Summer 2016 catalogue as I was itching to do, I was good and filed my tax return! It’s one of those tasks you put off and put off, but then ends up not being as bad as you thought it would be! So last night I gave myself some time off catching up on the rest of my admin and had a play with Picture Perfect & Timeless Textures from Stampin’ Up!

I have been itching to have a proper play around with both these sets and inspired by a stunning card by Miranda, a Dutch Demonstrator, which you can see here, I put them both together. I tried a sepia-ish colour scheme first, but then thought it might look better in shades of grey. What do you think? Which one do you prefer?Picture Perfect Timeless Texture from Stampin' Up! Tracy May

I teamed them up with glimmer paper, metallic thread and sequins for some bling.

I love the grungy look of these cards. They are softer than my usual style which is crisp and sharp, but I think they are still CAS (clean and simple).

I can’t decide if I like the Bermuda Bay one better or the Watermelon Wonder.

Picture Perfect Timeless Texture from Stampin' Up! Tracy May

I layered the images from Timeless Textures over each other, stamping off first to get the faded look.

It’s hard to see in the photo but I added Wink of Stella Clear to all the flowers. They look lovely and shimmery in real life.

These two stamp sets are now available and if you would like to buy them or any of the other products used, please click on the table below. Thank you for your support! 🙂
