Touches of Texture and the Pansy Punch by Stamping’ Up!

Touches of Texture and the Pansy Punch by Stamping’ Up!

Soooo a short post from me today! It’s the Easter holidays and the Bedlam Brothers are playing one of those games you just know is going to end up with the fighting! This week is a colour challenge week over at Create with Connie & Mary. Not usually my favourite but this week’s was ok for me!

I like this scheme. It made me think of daffodils and I’ve created a pretty (CAS) card along those lines using Touches of Texture and the Pansy Punch by Stamping’ Up!

Touches of Texture and the Pansy Punch by Stamping' Up! Tracy May #CCMC452

I started by stamping the background strip and sentiment in Sahara Sand. Then I stamped the little flower from Touches of Texture in So Saffron and Peekaboo Peach. The large flower is cut from water colour paper which I had coloured using So Saffron and Peekaboo Peach as well. The smaller flower is the Petite Petals punch cut from the same water colour paper.  I stamped it using the same flower from Touches of Texture using Peekaboo Peach.  I finished off the flower with a So Saffron enamel dot. The Whisper White card front has been added to a Sahara Sand card base with a strip of So Saffron DSP down the side.

So what do you think? I think it’s quite pretty don’t you?

Thanks for stopping by. Please do pop over and see what the rest of the lovely design team have created for you today! I’m off to supervise the Bedlam Brothers! Roll on school lol!

It’s a colour challenge over at Create with Connie & Mary.  I’ve reverted to my comfort zone of minimal use of colour and lots (and I mean lots) of white space. And I actually really like my card this week, which is unusual for me with a colour challenge! I used Touches of Texture by Stampin’ Up!. Simply because I love this set and I haven’t used it for a while. Also I think it’s a good one for use of minimal colour too!

Touches of Texture by Stampin' Up! Tracy May #CCMC444

So what do you think? I started off with a Whisper White panel (8.5cm x 12.5cm) onto which I stamped the flowers in Dapper Denim. I used one of the smallest stamps to colour the flowers in Peekaboo Peach.

The sentiment is stamped onto Crumb Cake in Dapper Denim from Thoughtful Banners and I cut it out using the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies. I finished off the card with some Linen thread (I separated the strands, so I could use a single strand thread, as it looked a bit too thick otherwise). A few Rhinestone jewels and the card is done! Very CAS (clean and simple).

Well I do hope you like it. Please do pop over to see what the rest of the design team have come up with this week for you!

In this World by Stampin’ Up!

In this World by Stampin’ Up!

It took me an age to finish this card! I know! It looks so simple doesn’t it? It’s another of my tentative attempts at mixed media.

In this World by Stampin' Up! Tracy May

I created the card front by covering panel of Whisper White with Gesso so I could watercolour on top of it.  I then stamped the door from In this World by Stampin’ Up! in Basic Black Archival ink. Then I partially  painted over it with some more gesso and stamped the butterfly from the same set. I added the flower from Touches of Texture, added some colour using Night of Navy and Melon Mambo ink refills and an aqua painter. After that I totally lost confidence and didn’t know how to finish it.

It was only when my friend came round the other week for coffee and I started bouncing some ideas off her, that it came together. So what do you think? Does it fit the Mixed Media bill? Does mixed media scare you as much as it does me? LoL!

I’m actually really pleased with how it turned out in the end. Thanks Jackie!

I will keep experimenting with Mixed Media. I’m thinking of doing an art journal! Talk about running before I can walk! Lol!

Ok so I’ve another card for you today that I dug out of my unfinished projects basket last week. I had been stuck on what to do with this one after I had stamped the door and the flower. But then a friend came over for coffee and I was able to bounce some ideas off her and finish up this one and another one too – both using In This World & Touches of Texture by Stampin’ Up!

Luckily my friend is very understanding! Well she is a crafter too and she loves buying new products as much as I do! We are quite bad for each other’s wallets really!  LoL!

I’m really pleased with the way the card has turned out! There’s still a fair few items knocking around in my unfinished items basket. I need to get a bit more organised and have a session finishing them all off. It’s really actually very therapeutic and you feel like you’ve achieved something!

If you would like to buy any of the products I used in making this card, then simply click on the table below to go to my online shop!

Thanks for stopping by!

Touches of Texture by Stampin’ Up! #CCMC415 Sketch Challenge

Hi I’m back with one of my favourite go-to stamps of the moment! Touches of Texture by Stampin’ Up! and as its Thursday that means it’s for the Create with Connie & Mary challenge, #CCMC415, which is a Sketch Challenge this week! And yes I’ve used Touches of Texture for the second challenge in a row!! 🙂

CCMC415

I’ve stuck to the square shape of the challenge sketch, which I normally don’t do as it means I have to make my own envelope for this card now! Oh yes I really am that lazy you know! Lol!

I’ve gone for a different look to what I would normally go for with this challenge. I hope you like it! There’s no Whisper White for a start!!!

But I do love how this card has turned out anyway!

I do very much think, that Touches of Texture by Stampin’ Up! is not just a background stamp set (as I originally thought). It is so versatile!

Please do go and see all the wonderful projects the Create with Connie and Mary design team have created for you! Many thanks x

More Touches of Texture by Stampin’ Up! for CCMC414

It’s time for another Create with Connie & Mary Colour Challenge. I’m bringing you more Touches of Texture by Stampin’ Up! I love this stamp set and I hope it sticks around with Gorgeous Grunge for a long time to come!

The colours for this challenge are Peekaboo Peach, Tangerine Tango and Cucumber Crush.  I have to be honest, I have not been looking forward to creating something with this combination. I have been scratching my head since I first saw it and as usual I left it to the last minute to make my card.

I really love the card I came up with in the end! Sometimes for me, working under pressure is the best way. I don’t have time to overthink every single detail and whether it would look better a little different or in a different colour! LoL!

This card is really easy to create and would a great card if you need to make a big batch in one go!

  1. I stamped Peekaboo Peach as the background spatter;
  2. Stamp the flower stem in Cucumber Crush;
  3. Stamp the flower petals in Tangerine Tango;
  4. Stick a strip of the spotty Peekaboo Peach Washi Tape, from the Playful Palette Designer Washi Tape set, along the bottom right of the card front;
  5. Stamp your sentiment in StazOn along the Washi tape;
  6. Mount the card front onto a layer of Basic Black card stock and then onto a Whisper White Card Base;
  7. Finish off with some embellishments. I used the new Metallic Enamel Shapes (Silver).

That’s all there is to it. It’s a very simple, but very effective card. I hope you like it.

The rest of the design team have come up with more fantastic projects to inspire you, so pop over to the challenge page and take a look.

Touches of Texture by Stampin’ Up!

Hey there! I’m back today with a card I CASE’d from myself! Ha ha ha! I love the new Touches of Texture by Stampin’ Up! This stamp set is so versatile! You can use it for creating backgrounds, as well as making it the focal point of a card, as I have done here!

Touches of Texture by Stampin' Up! Tracy May

So what card did I CASE? Do you remember the Flowering Fields Sale-a-bration stamp set and this card?

Flowering Fields from Stampin' Up Water Colour Scene UK Demonstrator Tracy May

I used the same technique to create today’s card.

So what do you think? I really like splattering the Wink of Stella pens over the whole of the card, not just the card front, but you could do this step before you assemble your card, if you prefer not to get spatters on the other layers!

Well that’s it from me today! I’ve got to get ready for tomorrow night’s card class. I’m really looking forward to it, but so far I’ve only designed one project! I need two more in a hurry! Lol – I’m always lastminute.com! EEEK! 🙂

Touches of Texture from Stampin’ Up! Colour Challenge for #GDP041

Gdp041-2

I’m back today with a card I’ve made for the Global Design Challenge colour challenge this week. I’m using Touches of Texture from Stampin’ Up! I know this stamp set is going to become a firm favourite along with Timeless Texture and Gorgeous Grunge for background stamping. But, you can also use Touches of Texture as the star of the show, as I’ve done with my card. I found the colours a little challenging (ahem no pun intended!) again this week. I am determined to persevere and conquer this colour challenge phobia of mine though!

Touches of Texture from Stampin' Up! Tracy May #GDP041

I decided to use Sweet Sugarplum for the card base. Then I went with a mat of Night of Navy underneath the Whisper White card front. Once I had decided on that combination, it seemed to make sense to stamp the background splatter in Sweet Sugarplum and use Night of Navy for the focal image.

I also stamped onto the card base using Sweet Sugarplum and decided I like the layers off-kilter too. I’m not 100% happy with it, but I can’t put my finger on why not? What do you think?

I stamped the sentiment from Thankful Thoughts. I’ve severely depleted my stock of thank you cards this month with all the orders from the new catalogue, so you will probably be seeing a load more thank you cards from me for a while, as I build it back up again!

Well that’s it from me. Do pop over to the Global Design Challenge and take a look at what the super talented design team have come up with! They are all amazing!
