Lift Me Up by Stampin’ Up!

Lift Me Up by Stampin’ Up! #CCMC439

For today’s Create with Connie & Mary challenge I’m using Lift Me Up by Stampin’ Up! again. It’s a really lovely set with matching thinlit dies Up & Away, both of which are now available in the new Spring/Summer 2017 Catalogue.

Lift Me Up by Stampin' Up! Tracy May #CCMC439

I started with the Carried Away Designer Series paper – a free SAB gift! I took my colour scheme from there using Mint Macaron for the second panel. Then I stamped the balloons from Lift Me Up by Stampin’ Up! in Night of Navy and Peekaboo Peach. I cut them out with the Up & Away thinlits.

The sentiment is from Thoughtful Banners and is also stamped in Night of Navy. So what do you think? I’m not the only one who thought of using the SAB DSP and Lift Me Up for this challenge today. One of my fellow design team members Lisa has also used it to make a stunning card. I thought our cards looked different enough not to remake mine when I saw hers though. Pop over and see what Lisa and the other talented ladies on the design team have come up with this week.

And don’t forget that as well as the new Spring/Summer 2017 Catalogue being live, Sale-a-bration has started. For every £45 / 60 € you spend you can earn a free SAB item.

Well hello there! I am back for this week’s gorgeous sketch challenge over at Create with Connie & Mary! And I have another sneak peek for you from the new Spring/Summer 2017 catalogue. So look away now if you don’t want to see! I’m using the lovely Lift Me Up! by Stampin’ Up!

The Lift Me Up! stamp set comes with a coordinating set of thinlits dies called Up & Away!

  • I started with the Soft Sky Card front and teamed it up with a strip of the gorgeous new Carried Away DSP that you can earn for free during Sale-a-bration (from January to end of March 2017).
  • Then I added a strip of silver foil along the bottom of the strip of DSP
  • The balloon is from the Up & Away thinlits dies and is cut from Night of Navy and stuck which I then stuck down onto Whisper White card stock before cutting around the shape with my Paper snips (the best paper scissors ever!!)
  • The sentiment is from Lift Me Up and finished the card off with some white enamel dots and rhinestones.

I hope you like my project today. I think it could be a great man card!

Please do pop over and see what else the lovely, talented design team have for you this week!

Birthday card ideas using Stampin’ Up! products

Birthday card using Weather Together by Stampin’ Up!

Wow where is this school holiday going? I am totally out of synch with everything but I decided not to fight it and just go with the flow! 🙂

So I am back today with a card that I had meant to post on Monday and enter into a card challenge. Unfortunately I have now missed the deadline, but I thought I would still share the card with you anyway. I made it last week when I was making this card also using Weather Together by Stampin’ Up!

You can’t actually see from the photo, but I water colour painted the presents/gifts with my clear wink of stella pen! They have a gorgeous shimmer to them. As I had my sewing machine out I decided to sew the panel on to the background card and also to sew the sentiment across the middle.

What do you think? I really like it! But hey I’m biased I know! 🙂

To create the card:

  1.  Tape a piece of water colour card stock down to a board;
  2. Stamp the gifts in rows across the card;
  3. Mask the gifts with masking fluid and an old paint brush;
  4. Once the masking fluid is dry apply a  layer of water across the water colour paper then dab in Mint Macaron and Bermuda Bay ink on with an aqua painter and allow to dry;
  5. Remove the masking fluid from the gifts and pick up ink from the lids of the ink pads with a clear wink of stella brush and paint the gifts;
  6. Once it’s dry sew (or glue) the watercolour card front to a coloured base or mat;
  7. Stamp and cut out the sentiment and adhere across the middle of the card.

Fairy Celebration by Stampin’ Up!

Fairy Celebration by Stampin’ Up! #SS003

Happy Monday everyone. I hope you had a fabulous and crafty weekend. I did manage some crafting this weekend to make a lovely little card using Fairy Celebration by Stampin’ Up! to enter into Sarah Berry’s Strawberry Sketches Challenge #SS003.

Isn’t it a pretty sketch? At first I was going to use butterflies and change the layout from portrait to landscape, but then I remembered I need some birthday cards for upcoming parties my son has been invited to. And so I settled on the cute little fairy from Fairy Celebration by Stampin’ Up! So here’s my interpretation of Sarah’s sketch!

Fairy Celebration by Stampin' Up! Tracy May #SS003

What do you think? I think its so cute (even if I do say so myself!) Lol!

I am trying to get ahead with birthday cards as my sons have a few birthday parties coming up and I’ve depleted my stash of cards completely. So expect to see more ideas for kids birthday cards over the next few weeks!

Before I go I just wanted to share a brand new exciting limited edition bundle with you! This bundle will be available from tomorrow 2nd August until 31st August (or whilst stock lasts).

The bundle consists of a lovely stamp set and co-ordinating thinlits dies. And even better you can use your Bonus Days points to buy them!

Touches of Texture by Stampin’ Up!

Touches of Texture by Stampin’ Up! #CCMC415 Sketch Challenge

Hi I’m back with one of my favourite go-to stamps of the moment! Touches of Texture by Stampin’ Up! and as its Thursday that means it’s for the Create with Connie & Mary challenge, #CCMC415, which is a Sketch Challenge this week! And yes I’ve used Touches of Texture for the second challenge in a row!! 🙂

I’ve stuck to the square shape of the challenge sketch, which I normally don’t do as it means I have to make my own envelope for this card now! Oh yes I really am that lazy you know! Lol!

I’ve gone for a different look to what I would normally go for with this challenge. I hope you like it! There’s no Whisper White for a start!!!

Touches of Texture by Stampin' Up! Tracy May #CCMC415

But I do love how this card has turned out anyway!

  • I started with a 5″ x 5″ card base of Crumb Cake;
  • Then I sponged Crumb Cake ink around the edges of the Very Vanilla rectangle;
  • I stamped the flowers from Touches of Texture by Stampin’ Up! on the Very Vanilla Card stock and then used Dapper Denim and Delightful Dijon for added colour;
  • I used Washi tape and glimmer paper for the banner;
  • The main flower is heat embossed in gold embossing powder and coloured in Dapper Denim and Delightful Dijon!
  • The final touches are a few metallic sequins and thread!

I do very much think, that Touches of Texture by Stampin’ Up! is not just a background stamp set (as I originally thought). It is so versatile!

Please do go and see all the wonderful projects the Create with Connie and Mary design team have created for you! Many thanks x

Hello! Annual Catalogue 2016 – 2017 Blog Hop Week 6

Welcome to the Hello! Annual Catalogue 2016-2017 Blog Hop! You’ll be hopping around some amazing Stampin’ Up!® Independent Demonstrators blogs, each with an inspirational project, featuring new catalogue products.
Currently you’re visiting Tracy May from London, UK. Hello there! You can continue hopping by using the previous and next buttons at the end of this post. Now, let’s scroll down to see what I’ve been making.
I really liked the Mixed Borders Stamp set when I saw it in the new catalogue. I think my original intention was to use it to decorate my planner (which I have yet to do!). However, when I was looking at the stamps contained in the set I really liked the idea of creating my own floral background using the flower border stamp.
I only inked up the left hand part of the stamp with the 3 flowers, and stamped it over a panel of Whisper White. I didn’t want too much colour on the background, so I randomly chose flowers to colour using the Brights Stampin’ Write Markers. Originally I was going to use Basic Black as the border for the card front and the sentiment, but it looked too harsh, so I switched to Rich Razzleberry, which looks awesome with the new copper embossing powder and copper metallic thread.

I even used some of the copper embossing powder for the centres of the coloured flowers. I wish the picture showed how pretty it really is. I still need to work on my photography skills!

Butterfly Thinlits by Stampin’ Up!

Butterfly Thinlits by Stampin’ Up!

Hey it’s Thursday again – wow it always comes around so fast doesn’t it? I’m back today with a lovely card (even if I do say so myself!) for this week’s Create with Connie & Mary sketch challenge #CCMC413. I’m using Butterfly Thinlits by Stampin’ Up! for today’s card.

I decided on Butterfly Thinlits by Stampin’ Up! for the focal point of the card. I had created a water coloured butterfly whilst I was trying to design another card. I ended up doing something else for that card in the end.

Butterflies Thinlits by Stampin' Up! Tracy May

  • I started with a Whisper White card front and stamped the rows of dots using a stamp from Watercolor Wings;
  • I then added the stripy washi tape from the Pop of Pink Designer Washi tape set;
  • I then kind of embossed the Whisper White panel using the Fluttering embossing folder. I didn’t run the embossing folder through the big shot though. I just applied pressure using my hands as I didn’t want a deep embossing;
  • I then adhered the card front to a Soft Sky card base, but I thought something was missing so I added the strip of silver glimmer paper along the middle of the stamped spots and striped washi tape;
  • Finally I added the butterfly with a sentiment from Thoughtful Banners that I then cut into a banner shape.

Well I hope you liked my project. Please do pop over to Create with Connie & Mary to see the rest of the design team’s projects!

Watercolor Wings from Stampin’ Up! #CCMC405

Watercolor Wings from Stampin’ Up! #CCMC405

It’s Thursday folks! Which means it is time for another challenge from Create with Connie & Mary! This week’s challenge is a sketch! I have used Watercolor Wings from Stampin’ Up! as my focal stamp set this week!

Watercolor Wings from Stampin' Up! #CCMC405 Tracy May

I still seem to have an aversion to using DSP on large areas of cards and have, instead, gone for an embossed panel using the Bricks Embossing Folder.

  1. To create the coloured “mortar” between the bricks, ink up the raised inside of the Bricks embossing folder. I used the Tip Top Taupe. Sandwich the card stock (10cm x 10cm) in the folder and run through the Big Short as normal.
  2. I added a strip of Gold Glimmer paper down the right side of the embossed panel;
  3. I backed this onto a panel of Tip Top Taupe (10cm x 14.3cm) and added to a Whisper White card base (A5 folded in half);
  4. I decided on a butterfly as my focal point for the card and stamped one from Watercolor Wings first in Tip Top Taupe (2nd stamping) and then over the top with Watermelon Wonder);
  5. I wrapped some gold metallic thread around the butterfly’s body to create the antennae! 😀
  6. For the sentiment I decided on a simpler banner and made a two-layer one from Watermelon Wonder and Basic Black card stock – the sentiment is from the new Thankful Thoughts stamp set coming soon!

I’m quite happy with the result, but I can’t help thinking there is something missing when I look at it? Maybe I should have added some bling – gold sequins or rhinestones? I don’t know! What do you think?

I really ought to try using DSP for backgrounds more. I just can’t seem to bring myself to cut up the beautiful sheets of 12×12″ though! I’m a paper hoarder! Oh dear! Lol!

Thanks for stopping by! Please be sure to check out all the other design team’s creations and I hope we can tempt you in to giving it a go this week! We’d love to see what you come up with!

Garden in Bloom for Freshly Made Sketches

Challenge card using Stampin’ Up! ® Garden in Bloom for Freshly Made Sketches and Less Is More

Well my new found organised self was short lived! One week of the school holidays and it’s back to bedlam and chaos! Lol! I think I will mostly be chasing my tail this week now! 😆

I’m kicking off the week with a last minute entry to Freshly Made Sketches sketch #230 using Stampin’ Up!’s Garden in Bloom set again.

FMS Final 230

I’m also doubling up with this week’s Less is More colour challenge White space but not  WHITE

Garden in Bloom from Stampin' Up! Tracy May #FMS230 LIM#270

I stamped the Butterflies, flowers and leaves using Memento Tuxedo black. As I was colouring with pencils I used a special paper designed for coloured pencils which has a bit more tooth to it.

I had a friend over last night and she sat colouring in my colouring book whilst I sat colouring the panel for my card. This was the second attempt. The first ended up being too busy with lots more flowers and bees and very little blue space, so I binned it and started again. It’s very therapeutic colouring and chatting – I highly recommend it!

The sentiment is from Number of Years, which I love but have not really used much yet.

I best get on with it in case it’s not included in the new annual catalogue due out beginning of June. I can sense the excitement building amongst my fellow demonstrators. We will all get to see the new catalogue in the flesh at the Stampin’ Up! OnStage events starting 14th April with OnStage Live in Salt Lake City. I’m going to be at the OnStage Local event in Telford, UK on Saturday 16th and I can’t wait!

I think we may find out what will be retiring from the current catalogue at the event. One thing I do know for sure though is that the current 2014-2016 In Colors will be retiring, so make sure you get your refills ordered sooner rather than later for those ink pads. The retiring colour ink pads, refills and paper packs usually sell out in the first few days the retiring list is announced!
