Swallowtail from Stampin’ Up!

Stylish birthday card using Swallowtail from Stampin’ Up!

It was my Mum’s birthday last week and for some reason I have gotten in to the habit of making her a butterfly birthday card. So this year I picked Swallowtail from Stampin’ Up!, which I haven’t used for quite some time. In fact I think the last time I used it was to complete a make and take following my team leader’s monthly training event well over a year ago. (Click here to view the card).

To be honest, Swallowtail isn’t the only stamp set I haven’t used for a long time. I seem to have absolute favourites for a while, which then fade into the background, after each new catalogue release and a new favourite comes along. I must make it my mission to dust them off and give them all an outing! Lol! 🙂

One of Mum’s favourite colour schemes is red and gold, so I stamped the Swallowtail in Versamark and randomly sprinkled with Cherry Cobbler and Gold Stampin’ Emboss powder. (I masked off the card front to create a border).

What do you think? The contrast between the colours is not as vivid as I had hoped it would be, but I still think it’s quite effective. (p.s. I used Talented Trio for the sentiment).

No Bones About It from Stampin’ Up! – Less is More Masculine Challenge

Less is More Challenge card for Week 246 Theme – Masculine. Created using No Bones About It from Stampin’ Up!

Although No Bones About It from Stampin’ Up!  ® is in the Kids section of the annual catalogue, there’s …well…no bones about it, it’s a very versatile set! Sorry, sorry, couldn’t resist – pun intended! 🙂

I stumbled across the Less is More challenge blog again earlier this week, which I haven’t visited for a while, and their current challenge is a theme – Masculine. I know it’s an area of card making that lots of us (perhaps most of us even) struggle with. I most certainly do so I hadn’t really considered entering at first! Well yesterday, I had the No Bones About It set out, as I was creating a birthday card for a little boy who is turning 7 tomorrow. Whilst I was stamping dinosaurs and party hats for that card, I stamped an extra one, as an idea formed for a masculine card at the same time! Multi-tasking! Lol!

I grabbed the Work of Art set and the Every Day Chic Washi tape, which despite the name could arguably described as masculine I think (or maybe gender neutral perhaps?). So here’s what I came up with for the Less Is More Masculine challenge. I hope you like it!

At first I was going to put all of the sentiment on the outside of the card but it looked off balance, so instead I added some punctuation marks half way and finished it off inside. What do you think? I couldn’t resist adding another Tricerotops donning a party hat!

I’m quite pleased with how it turned out! I know who I’m sending it to too! He should find it amusing (I hope!).

Sneak Peek – Christmas Cuties from Stampin’ Up!

A sneak peek of the new Autumn/Winter Catalogue with Christmas Cuties from Stampin’ Up!

Morning peeps, how’s you today? It’s a grey misty day here – feels very autumnal! Boo – the summer holidays aren’t even over yet!!!

Anyways, I got my pre-order from the new Autumn/Winter Catalogue yesterday and just had to have a play. I asked my youngest son which character he liked best from Christmas Cuties from Stampin’ Up!. He chose this little elf for me to make a card from.

I coloured him with my alcohol markers. Isn’t he cute? These items will be available to order from September 1st. If you don’t already have a demonstrator and you are in Europe (UK, Netherlands, France, Germany or Austria), I’d be happy to send you a catalogue, just drop me a line! 🙂

Talented Trio from Stampin’ Up!

A trio of notecards created using Talented Trio from Stampin’ Up!

Good morning folks, and how are you today? If you have kids are you surviving the school holidays? And even if you don’t are you surviving them? 🙂

This morning I have a simple little set of notecards to share with you, that I made for my niece. I’m looking after her and her brother this week, so we have a house full.

I love the Talented Trio from Stampin’ Up! for all the colouring possibilities. You can watercolour with it, colour with pencils or markers, use ink and a blender pen too….

I used colour pencils for this set and kept the cards very CAS – clean and simple.

Stampin' Up! Independent Demonstrator Tracy May Talented TrioI think this one is my favourite, as she reminds me of my niece. Even my youngest son thinks so too.

I used the Washi tape punch to create the banner for the sentiment. I must admit I was a little skeptical when I first saw the punch but I bought it anyway! And guess what? I love it!!! Totally hooked now!

Anyways, I’ve got to dash. Got 4 kids to entertain! Hope you liked today’s projects. Thanks for stopping by. Check out this week’s weekly deals before you go.
