Watercolour Wings by Stampin’ Up!

Watercolour Wings by Stampin’ Up!

I have been having fun digging around in my basket of unfinished projects again! I had to empty it out, as it was getting a tad full. One of the unfinished items was the background on the card below. I had stamped out the grey butterflies using the wing details image from Watercolor Wings by Stampin’ Up!. And I had stuck on the strip of washi tape but that was all! I was stuck on it for a good while and then totally forgot about it to be honest!

Watercolor Wings by Stampin' Up! Tracy May

I came across it whilst I was sorting out the basket of unfinished projects and I was actually about to throw it away, when I had a flash of inspiration! So instead, I grabbed my Melon Mambo ink pad and Watercolor Wings by Stampin’ Up! again and finished the card off! I stamped out the body of the smaller butterfly and then I added some bling with the butterfly cut out using Bold Butterfly Framelits Dies and Silver metallic thread. Then I spattered some Melon Mambo around with an aqua painter to lessen the whiteness. I really like it now. It’s a cute design. I don’t think I’ve noticed the wings being used as a butterfly background before, but I could be wrong! (I usually am lol!)

What do you think? I hope you like it!

Water coloured Watercolour Wings from Stampin’ Up! #CCMC410

Water coloured Watercolour Wings from Stampin’ Up! #CCMC410

It’s another colour challenge this week over at Create with Connie & Mary #CCMC410. I left my card to the last minute this time, as I was busy prepping for my end of month class and then Open House on Saturday for the launch of the new Stampin’ Up! catalogue, but as I’d seen the colours a few weeks in advance I was quietly confident I wouldn’t have any trouble coming up with something!

CCMC410

I mean what could be tough about two of my go to colours – Bermuda Bay and Daffodil Delight – teamed up with Kraft/Crumb Cake??? Well that will teach me to not be so cocky about it in future! I am not 100% happy with it.

Watercolour Butterflies using Watercolor Wings from Stampin' Up! Tracy May_CCMC410 main

  1. I decided on a Kraft card base and then decided on soft watercolour butterflies for the background;
  2. I spritzed the water colour paper with water and allowed it to soak in for a few moments before stamping Daffodil Delight butterflies from Watercolor Wings. I stamped off first onto scrap paper and lightly spritzed the stamp before stamping;
  3. I dried the watercolour paper with my heat gun and then stamped the butterfly detail in Bermuda Bay – again I stamped off first and then spritzed with water before drying with the heat gun again;
  4. I then mounted the water colour paper onto Bermuda Bay matt. I decided to go for a quirky side matt and I rounded the top left and bottom right of all pieces of card stock using the corner rounder  on my envelope punch board;
  5. I added the Gold Metallic Twine under the Bermuda Bay and Vellum butterflies and added the sentiment from Thoughtful Banners;
  6. I felt the card was lacking something so I added the sliver of gold glimmer paper to form the butterfly’s body and antennae and I splattered gold Wink of Stella all over the card before finishing of with a couple of gold sequins!

I like the individual elements of the card but I’m not completely happy with it assembled together! It was, however, too late to start again from scratch!

Oh well we live and learn. Maybe I should have used Crumb Cake in the water colouring too? If it bugs me enough I will have another go at it and show you what I come up with! 😊

Please do pop over and see what the rest of the design team has come up with. They’ve all made super cards to inspire you!

Watercolor Wings from Stampin’ Up! #GDP038

Watercolor Wings from Stampin’ Up! #GDP038

Wow two posts from me today! So much going on! My earlier post was introducing the new annual catalogue and fantastic joining and Stampin’ Rewards offers from Stampin’ Up! running throughout June! This post is for my entry to this week’s Global Design Project’s Sketch Challenge #GDP038.

GDP038

I wanted to keep it super simple this week and also use one of my favourite stamp sets that has returned in the new annual catalogue – Watercolor Wings from Stampin’ Up!

Watercolor Wings from Stampin' Up! & Duet Banner Punch Tracy May #GDP038

  1. I stamped the butterfly base in Marina Mist, Sweet Sugarplum and Flirty Flamingo onto a Whisper White card front. I stamped all the butterflies stamped off first to get a lighter shade for the wings;
  2. The bodies and details on the wings are stamped in Dapper Denim;
  3. The card front is Dapper Denim – it is two pieces that are stuck over the top of the Whisper White card base so that the butterflies are sitting underneath;
  4. The banner is a triple layer of Marina Mist, Sweet Sugarplum and Whisper White punched with the new Duet Banner punch;
  5. I stamped the sentiment in Dapper Denim from Thoughtful Banners and the banner (also from Thoughtful Banners) in Sweet Sugarplum on the Whisper White banner.
  6. The 3 banners are stuck together and raised up on Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I hope you like the project!

#GDP024 Watercolor Wings Thank You Card

Watercolor Wings Thank You Card made for the Global Design Project Challenge #GDP024

I have a love/hate thing going on with my card today, which is a Watercolor Wings Thank You card, for the Case the Designer challenge (#GDP024) over at the Global Design Project Challenge blog! The designer this week is non other than my lovely team leader Michelle Last with this stunning card!GDP024

Lovely isn’t it? I took inspiration from the Butterfly and the blue and decided to use those elements on my card.

I made my card last night and the version you are seeing is actually to super quick re-creation of the first card, that I had to make after destroying the original!!!

Watercolor Wings from Stampin' Up! #GDP024 Tracy May.

I had a vision of loveliness in my head when I started making the card last night, but as it progressed an epic battle ensued and the card won!! Everything that could go wrong did – most of it was recoverable…. an errant ink splat covered up with a vellum butterfly with a staple through it for example. Right until I had finished the card and set it to one side to finish off another one I was making.

ALL I did was move the finished card out of the way and bang! Game over – black ink smudge right on the edge …… which in my infinite wisdom I decided would “wash” out with an aquapainter! DUH! I then thought if I carefully removed the card front I could trim it and stick it onto another piece of Basic Black – you can see where this is going can’t you? Yep straight in the bin in about 4 pieces!! Lol!

Anyway I re-created the card quickly before going to bed in a huff (lol!). I thought I would leave off the vellum butterflies that had been covering up mistakes on the original but in the end I actually liked it better with them on, so back in they went. I also decided to splat some Wink of Stella over the card too to contrast with the water marks – oh yeah be careful as it does really go SPLAT ha ha ha (as you can see top left of the big butterfly!)

The little vellum butterflies have been covered with Wink of Stella too and they look very pretty!

I hope you like today’s card! It certainly gave me brain ache but I think I got there in the end! 😄

Fluttering butterfly embossing folder from Stampin’ Up!

Fluttering butterfly embossing folder from Stampin’ Up!

A friend and her family recently moved to a new home and she was describing the outdated decor to us. Apparently her living room was decorated in a vile purple butterfly wallpaper, which just had to go! As a joke I made her a purple butterfly card using the Fluttering butterfly embossing folder from Stampin’ Up!, which hopefully is a lot more tasteful than the wallpaper was! Lol!

What do you think?

Stampin' Up! Fluttering Butterfly Embossing Folder Tracy May

I added some Dazzling Details to the wing spots of the butterfly, which is stamped using the fabulous Watercolor Wings set in Wisteria Wonder, Elegant Eggplant and Perfect Plum. Purple isn’t normally one of my go to colour schemes, however, I think it’s a beautiful card and very clean and simple, but then I’m biased aren’t I? 😉

I think I will try out some more purple colour schemes, there’s loads in the new Spring/Summer catalogue, which would look stunning in it! I had a little play last night with one of my new stamps and I can’t wait to share the results with you later in December.

In the meantime, check out this week’s deals and see if you can grab yourself a bargain. Last orders for guaranteed delivery before Christmas are Sunday 13th December, so make sure to order now if you want something in time for a gift or last minute craft project!

Remarkable You from Stampin’ Up! #GDP010

Global Design Project #GDP010 sketch challenge card using Remarkable You from Stampin’ Up!

With all the Christmas crafting that’s been going on lately, I’ve neglected my other non-seasonal stamp sets, so it was really nice to get one out yesterday to create my entry for the Global Design Project #GDP010 sketch challenge. I used Remarkable You from Stampin’ Up! – one of my favourites for colouring – except I’ve not coloured this card!

Stampin' Up! Remarkably You & Watercolour Wings Tracy May #GDP010

I used the Melon Mambo ribbon to create the “frame” from the GDP sketch and to add a splash of colour.  I didn’t think about lining up the flowers on the card base and the front panel, which perhaps would have looked better? What do you think?

I’m getting very excited, now, as this time Thursday I will be at OnStage Live – the annual Stampin’ Up! conference. Can’t wait. I’m frantically trying to prep some swaps – I didn’t manage any last year as we were in the middle of a building project. I’ll share my swaps with you later on, so make sure you pop back to see them.

Watercolor Wings Global Design Project Challenge Card (#GDP009)

Watercolor Wings from Stampin’ Up! – clean and simple card idea for Global Design Project Challenge Card (#GDP009)

As both the Bedlam Brothers (aka my two pesky sons) are now at school full time, I promised myself that I would enter more blog challenges. This is in itself a challenge! I used to be a very organised, efficient individual. And then I had children!!!! Enough said!!! 🙂

Ha ha, I love them dearly of course, but since having the boys, I seemed to have acquired permanent baby brain and become completely disorganised. The upshot being that I haven’t managed as many challenges as I would like. I’m making some progress though and managed a couple of challenge entries last week. This week I’m playing along with the Global Design Challenge Blog – #GDP009, whose challenge is a colour scheme – Mint Macaron, Tip Top Taupe and Watermelon Wonder. I did groan at first and thought I would end up skipping this one on purpose. I am “challenged” immensely by colour combinations. My instant reaction is, that I have to cover the whole card with the colours, which I struggle with doing without ending up with a card that looks like the dog’s dinner.  I prefer clean and simple (as in easier) cards to make! Then I remembered the sketch challenge from last week, that I had managed to enter this card in to.

Stampin' Up! Watercolor Wings clean and simple card idea Tracy May #GDP009

To me the sketch fit the bill perfectly, allowing me to use all 3 colours, but in a way I could cope with! Lol! 🙂

What do you think? I stamped off the Gorgeous Grunge and Work of Art images once before stamping on to the card front. My ink pads are so juicy still, as I’ve not used these colours much, that I had to stamp the butterfly off 3 times for the background, before adding the second stamp for the wing tips. I also highlighted the wing tips with Dazzling Details, which unfortunately doesn’t show up too well in the picture.

Thanks for stopping by, I do hope you like my project. Before you go, why don’t you take a look at this week’s deals.

Watercolor Wings – Clean and Simple Stampin’ Up! Birthday Card

Clean and Simple Stampin’ Up! Birthday Card created using Watercolor Wings and Kinda Eclectic

Do you ever look at things so much, that you start not seeing them? Or is that just me? I’ve spent this week apologising to people for missing their birthday, despite having my Perpetual Birthday Calendar on the pinboard above my desk and despite the fact that I glance at it multiple times to check whose birthday is coming up! I think I’ve stopped seeing the dates now! I can’t believe I’ve managed it 5 times in October already!

Today’s project is a clean and simple Stampin’ Up! birthday card, that I made for my younger sister, whose birthday it was on Monday. And yes she is one of the birthdays I forgot! She did eventually get the card on Wednesday and I’m pleased to say she really liked it.  I got the idea for the layout from this card on Pinterest.

I was really pleased with how it turned out. Very clean and simple. I love the red and black colour combination. I also hand made the envelope to match, using the Real Red envelope paper available in the Autumn/Winter catalogue.

Watercolor Wings from Stampin’ Up!

Clean & Simple Thank you card using Watercolor Wings from Stampin’ Up!

Hey there, I’m back today with a card I came up with by playing around with Watercolor Wings from Stampin’ Up!. This was one of the first stamp sets I saw when the annual catalogue first came out and it’s been hugely popular. All the ideas I had, to showcase the set, seemed to be covered immediately by other demonstrators around the world.  I kind of parked using it waiting for inspiration to hit.

I had the chance yesterday to have a little play and was messing around with various watercolour methods, markers, reinkers, ink pads and I came up with this card. Personally I love it (well I would wouldn’t I? 🙂 ).

Stampin' Up! Independent Demonstrator Tracy May Watercolor Wings CAS cardAfter I stamped the Butterfly base onto watercolour paper I simply took an aquapainter and pulled the ink from the bottom of the wings and let it run down the paper. I added more ink from the lid of the ink pad to make the colour more vibrant and then splattered ink across the paper.

Once it was dry I overstamped the butterfly with the detailed stamp in Versamark and heat embossed using Iridescent Ice embossing powder to give it a sparkle.

I finished by stamping the sentiment from the Watercolor Wishes Card kit and adding some Real Red sequins.

What do you think?

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a fantasstic weekend.
