Hurrah it’s time for another challenge with Create with Connie & Mary! You may think I sound a little chipper considering it is a colour challenge – which I usually dread! This one however, I loved! Yes you read that right! I think it’s because I could pick Gold instead of Delightful Dijon! Myself and Delightful Dijon don’t get a along too well you see! I also think the fact that these colours lend themselves well to a Christmas theme helped me too! I’m using Happy Ornament by Stampin’ Up! for my challenge project.

Well it had to be done didn’t it! I’ve seen so many gorgeous water colour bauble Christmas cards over the last few years I have been crafting that I thought it was about time I came up with my own. This colour challenge was the perfect opportunity.

  1. Stamp with Versamark ink onto water colour paper. Heat emboss with Gold embossing powder.
  2. Mask off the hook and holder at the top with masking fluid
  3. Paint Cherry Cobbler ink inside the bauble. (I started off with a thin watery wash first). Leave to dry.
  4. Paint another wash with a darker Cherry Cobbler ink mix.
  5. Spray the ink whilst wet to force it outside of the bauble. Leave to dry.
  6. Splash some water droplets over the bauble and lifted some ink with a paper towel. Leave to dry.
  7. Splatter Cherry Cobbler and Gold Wink of Stella over the card front. Leave to dry.
  8. Remove the masking fluid from the hook and paint it directly with Gold Wink of Stella – it’s an opaque Wink of Stella unlike the Clear one.
  9. Add a few gold sequin stars and a trim of Gold Foil down the side.
  10. Finally mount the card front onto  Cherry Cobbler and a Kraft card base!

Well I hope you have enjoyed my project. Please do pop over and see what the rest of the very talented design team have come up with this week over at Create with Connie & Mary.

Candy Cane Lane DSP by Stampin’ Up!

Gosh doesn’t Thursday come around fast? It’s time for another Create with Connie & Mary challenge. This week it’s a sketch challenge (phew)! I decided on doing something a little different – well different for me that is! I have used Candy Cane Lane DSP by Stampin’ Up! as my focal point instead of stamping and die-cutting or punching out an image.

I loved this sketch and once I’d decided on the way I wanted to go with it, my card came together really easily!

Candy Cane Lane DSP by Stampin' Up! Tracy May #CCMC433

I used Candy Cane Lane DSP by Stampin’ Up! for the banner behind the Whisper White rectangle and the strip of stripy paper along the bottom. And I even used it for the main image. Isn’t that ginger bread house the cutest? I simply snipped it out of the DSP and attached it to the front with a couple of foam dimensionals.

I used Gorgeous Grunge to stamp the Real Red and Crumb Cake splatters in the background. The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Sentiments and is stamped in Early Espresso.

I don’t really use DSP much on my cards, even though I love it! Usually I don’t want to cut up the pretty patterns! But I need to get over that lol!

Well I hope you like my design for this week’s sketch challenge. Please do pop over to Create with Connie & Mary to see what the rest of the team has come up with! You won’t be disappointed as they are all super talented ladies!

Vintage Leaves by Stampin’ Up!

Yay it’s Thursday again and time for another challenge over at Create with Connie & Mary. This week it’s a colour challenge! I just love the colours this week and I thought I would try something different this week by using a lot of one colour. Vintage Leaves by Stampin’ Up! was my choice of stamp set. I’ve wanted to use it with the copper embossing powder since I first got it a few months ago.

My project for this week’s challenge is not my usual style and I almost broke out in hives I tell you! Lol!  I decided upon Night of Navy as the focal colour and worked around it from there!

Vintage Leaves by Stampin' Up! Tracy May #CCMC432

I randomly stamped the lovely leaves from Vintage Leaves by Stampin’ Up! in Versamark ink onto a Night of Navy card front and then covered them using Copper embossing powder and heat set. Them. I added a strip of Mint Macaron and Copper Foil paper across the middle and placed some Mint Macaron leaves also heat embossed with copper embossing powder over the top. I decided not to put a sentiment on this card yet as I’m not sure whether it will be a Thank You card or birthday card. What do you think it should be?

Well that’s it from me. Please do pop across to the Create with Connie & Mary challenge blog and see what the very talented design team have come up with. You won’t be disappointed. And why don’t you join us this week? We’d love to see what you come up with for the challenge so please do give it a go.!

Jolly Friends by Stampin’ Up!

Jolly Friends by Stampin’ Up! #CCMC431

I managed to get a bit of crafting done this week, so I’m actually all prepared now for all of the Create with Connie & Mary challenges for November! Woohoo! I think I’m finally settling into a new routine! Well maybe! Who knows? I’ve probably jinxed it now! Lol!

This week’s challenge is a sketch challenge and as you may have realised they are my favourite of the two types of challenge!

ccmc431

I actually managed two cards for this week’s challenge. I’ve gone with the festive card as my main one! I love Jolly Friends by Stampin’ Up! It’s such a fun, cute set and so I couldn’t resist using it for today’s project.

jolly-friends-by-stampin-up-ccmc431

Aren’t those elves and Santa just so cute? And I love the moose too! In fact I think he’s my favourite character in the set.  Which one is yours?

My second card is totally un-festive and unseasonal, but I love it! It’s using the very first stamp set I bought Papillon Potpourri from Stampin’ Up! I had only previously bought a few single wooden stamp sets before I discovered Stampin’ Up! 4 years ago. It was my 4th anniversary last week! I can’t believe it’s only been 4 years – it feels like a lot longer!

I used So Saffron and Calypso Coral to go with the Soft Sky DSP. It makes for a lovely fresh, spring card! I will have to remember to use this colour combination next spring!

Well I hope you like today’s projects. Please do pop over to the Create with Connie & Mary challenge site and see what the rest of the designers have come up with this week!

Birthday Blooms by Stampin’ Up!

Birthday Blooms by Stampin’ Up! #CCMC430

Yay it’s Thursday again and time for another challenge from Create with Connie & Mary. This week it’s a colour challenge. Challenge being the operative word! These seemingly innocent colours had me stumped at first. They just scream of the current season I think, because my first instinct was to go with the season. I was trying to come up with something using Spooky Fun and whilst I could have come up with lots of options, Hallowe’en, Thanksgiving, Autumn/Fall (it’s such a versatile set when combined with theHalloween Scenes edgelits) they had all seemed to have been done before. So I pumped for Birthday Blooms by Stampin’ Up! instead.

Birthday Blooms by Stampin' Up! Tracy May #CCMC430

And whilst the card I’m posting today isn’t the most original of designs, it is out of season (for my part of the world anyway) and that’s ok with me! Rebel without a clue! Lol!

I really don’t suppose you get purple and orange flowers on the same plant in nature and that may be the reason why I half like this card and  half don’t! What do you think? At first I thought it might just be because it was a little dark whilst the ink was wet. I used a blender pen and ink picked up from the Stampin’ Ink pads to colour it in. I then went over it with the clear Wink of Stella pen.

Does it just look slightly unnatural and therefore a little off – or does it not really matter? Artistic licence and all that?? I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on this!

Please do pop along and see what the rest of the vastly talented design team have come up with this week at Create with Connie & Mary! Thanks for stopping by!

Cozy Critters by Stampin’ Up!

I was back in my comfort zone with this week’s Create with Connie & Mary challenge. It’s a fabulous sketch challenge. Doesn’t that owl from Cozy Critters by Stampin’ Up! look great? I think this stamp set is really versatile and as you can see, can be used for more than just Christmas cards!

Cozy Critters by Stampin' Up! Tracy May #CCMC429

I decided to use the sketch for a baby card I needed to make. Having played around with a couple of different embossed backgrounds before I settled on the Woodland embossing folder. This folder has proved popular with my customers and I have sold a few recently, which probably prompted me to dig it out of the drawer for today’s card.

I stamped and then fussy cut the branch to stick over the banner and then positioned the owl over the top. The various sized circles I punched from the polka dot Neutrals Background DSP stack.

So what do you think? Well I really like it – but then I would wound’t I? Lol!

Please do pop over to the Create with Connie & Mary challenge page to see what everyone else has come up with. You won’t be disappointed. They are a lovely talented bunch!

Balloon Celebration by Stampin’ Up!

Look at the beautiful colours for this week’s colour challenge over at Create with Connie & Mary! I didn’t think I would struggle so much with these colours when I first saw them! BUT oh boy did I ever!! I had planned my card out in advance as I sometimes do but when I actually made it, I hated it! It just didn’t work! In fact my first three attempts all ended up in the bin!

In the end I actually CASEd myself using Balloon Celebration by Stampin’ Up!  I had this card out on my desk for some reason and it inspired the card I’m posting today!

Balloon Celebration by Stampin' Up! Tracy May #CCMC428

Originally I was going to cut out a butterfly but changed my mind last minute and I cut out the cute little bird from Birds & Blooms instead.  I actually am so pleased with how the card turned out in the end. Just to show how I used the colours, I stamped the allium in Pool Party and the bubbles/ink splats in Pear Pizazz.

The bird is cut out of watercolour paper which I had painted with Sweet Sugarplum ink and an aqua painter! I also stamped the sentiment in Sweet Sugarplum and then mounted the card front onto a Pool Party card base.

So what do you think? Please do pop over to the Create with Connie & Mary challenge blog to see all the lovely cards the rest of the design team have come up with!

Mountain Adventure by Stampin’ Up!

Hey it’s Thursday again and once again the whole week has run away from me! I need to get a new routine organised for all my other commitments, but I’m getting there slowly! Take a look at this week’s fabulous sketch challenge from Connie & Mary! I do really love their sketches! You will probably think me odd, but the pointy bit of the sketch made me think of mountain peaks! I don’t know why. Maybe I was looking at it upside down or something?

Anyway, that decided the choice of stamp set for me! Mountain Adventure by Stampin’ Up! I have a friend who lives in the French Alps and we have been over a few times to visit her and her husband so this card is perfect for them for Christmas! They are the reason I bought this set in the first place! LoL!

Mountain Adventure by Stampin' Up! Tracy May #CCMC427

I hope you like the card! It was fairly easy once I had cut the Whisper White card front to size. I simply stamped the scene by eye and coloured the cabin with a blender pen and ink from the ink pad lids. Then I  used Soft Sky for the snow.

I stamped the skis from the set across the bottom of the Mint Macaron card base then stuck the panel to the top and that is pretty much it. I don’t know if you can tell from the picture but there is a thin line of glitter along the cables for the cable cars!

Do pop over and see what the rest of the design team have come up with. You won’t be disappointed! Thanks for stopping by!

Oh to think I wasn’t originally going to buy Paisleys & Posies by Stampin’ Up! I resisted at first, but then I kept seeing so many great projects using the coordinating stamps and Paisley Framelits Dies I ended up putting in a sneak order!

Paisleys & Posies by Stampin' Up! Tracy May CCMC426

I featured this bundle in my monthly card class, which I’ve now moved to the last Wednesday of the month! After seeing the fantastic One Sheet wonder my team lead Michelle Last created in the summer, I thought this would make a great theme for the class. I was right, it went down a treat!

I started off by randomly stamping the Paisleys and Posies in the three colours from this week’s challenge, onto a sheet of A4 Whisper White. Then I cut the sheet into various shapes and sizes to make 6 cards, with enough left over for a tag as well!

My favourite card happened to be the one I’ve shared for this week’s challenge. I love the Smoky Slate card base, topped with the Dapper Denim layer, topped off by the strip of Tangerine Tango over the top! So, I hope you like it too!

Jolly Friends & Candy Cane Lane by Stampin’ Up!

Jolly Friends & Candy Cane Lane by Stampin’ Up!

Hi there! I’m back today with another sketch challenge for this week’s Create with Connie & Mary. I don’t want to jinx it, but I was on a roll when I made this card and it came together really quickly. Maybe it’s because I print out all the challenges on one page and then pin them to my pin board. The pin board is on the wall above my desk, so I’m constantly looking at the month’s challenges! I decided to use Jolly Friends & Candy Cane Lane by Stampin’ Up! for this week’s challenge.

ccmc425

I got both quite a few weeks ago, but hadn’t had the opportunity to get them out until this weekend. I love the clean look of this sketch and decided to stick with my usual Whisper White card base.

Jolly Friends & Candy Cane Lane by Stampin' Up! Tracy May CCMC425

I used the new Candy Cane Lane Designer Series Paper (DSP) for the two layers in the sketch. I then stamped the moose in Crumb Cake onto Whisper White and cut him out by hand. His lovely hat is stamped in Real Red and then punched out using the co-ordinating Jolly Hat Builder punch! This is one of the things I love most about Stampin’ Up! There are so many lovely punches or dies that co-ordinate with the stamp sets!

I finished my card off with a sentiment from Teeny Tiny Sentiments also stamped in Real Red, with a sliver of gold glimmer paper behind it. I also used some Real Red enamel dots from the Brights Enamel Shapes collection.

Well I do hope you like my project. Please do pop along and see what the rest of the design team have come up with!
