Totally Trees for Create with Connie & Mary

Totally Trees for Create with Connie & Mary

I seriously don’t know where this week has gone! I thought once the boys were back at school I would be straight back into a routine, but it’s not working out that way! It feels like I’m just chasing my tail! Lol! I did manage to make my card using Totally Trees for Create with Connie & Mary in plenty of time though.

I did think I would have problems with this challenge due to Delightful Dijon. I don’t find it terribly delightful to be honest! But, as soon as I sat down to make the card, an idea popped into my head and I went with it.

I started by stamping the trees from the totally awesome Totally Trees stamp set in Emerald Envy. Then I topped them with a star (also from the set) stamped in Delightful Dijon. The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Sentiments, which I totally recommend if you don’t already have it!

I used Delightful Dijon again for the sentiment. Above the sentiment I added a strip of Soft Suede card stock and some Gold Glimmer paper for a bit of bling. Then I layered the card front onto a piece of Soft Suede stripy DSP from the Neutrals DSP stack.

I’m really pleased with the way the card turned out! What do you think?

Star of Light by Stampin’ Up! #CCMC423

Wow, it feels like an age since I last blogged! Yesterday was the Bedlam Brother’s first day back to school so normal service should resume soon! Anyway what a great reason to kick start my posting again! Yes it’s Thursday and time for a new challenge over at Create with Connie & Mary! This week it’s a sketch challenge – my favourite type!

CCMC423

As soon as I looked at this sketch after I came back from holiday, another type of holiday sprang to mind – yes I’m going to use the C word! Christmas lol! I love the new Christmas bundle Star of Light by Stampin’ Up!

Originally I was going to use Pool Party, but I changed my mind half way through and settled on Smoky Slate to match with the Silver Glimmer paper. What do you think? Christmasy enough?

Star of Light by Stampin' Up! Tracy May #CCMC423

This is a really easy card to recreate:

  1. Stamp the swirl from Star of Light onto a panel of Whisper White using Smoky Slate ink;
  2. Attach 2 thin strips of silver glimmer paper to the top and bottom of the panel;
  3. Stamp the sentiment in Basic Grey;
  4. Adhere the Whisper white panel onto the Smoky Slate card front and then adhere to a Whisper White card base;
  5. Stamp the largest star in Basic Grey onto Smoky Slate and cut out with the matching Starlight Thinlits Dies;
  6. Adhere some Silver Metallic thread to the right hand side of the Whisper White panel;
  7. Adhere the star to the front of the card over the Metallic thread as shown;
  8. Cut out a smaller star from Silver Glimmer paper and add to the centre of the large star;
  9. Finally add some Rhinestones for a little bit of sparkle and voila! 🙂

I hope you’ve enjoyed my project. It’s great to be back! Please do pop over and see what the rest of the design team have come up with this week!

Love You Lots (by Stampin’ Up!)

Love You Lots (by Stampin’ Up!) for #CCMC421

I have been itching to post today’s project for ages! It’s sketch challenge week at Create with Connie & Mary this week and I love, love, love this sketch! You get two projects today, not just one as I love the sketch so much. I had trouble deciding what idea to go with, as I had a few different ones.

CCMC421

Isn’t that just a great sketch? I love the CAS (clean and simple) look – all that white space! It’s right up my street as we say in parts of the UK! Lol!

So here’s my first project – both use Love you Lots by Stampin’ Up! This idea popped right into my head the first time I saw the sketch.

Love You Lots by Stampin' Up! Tracy May #CCMC421

Don’t you just love how easy this card is to make? I stuck to just using a whisper white card base instead of a coloured card base with a white card front. You could easily use a real red card base though and match the sketch perfectly.

My second card, I think, is super cute too!

I made these for two of my lovely class ladies. A mother and daughter who have just become grandma and mummy to a little baby boy!

I had to cut out part of the elephant’s trunk before I die cut the circle. You can also do this with a circle punch as you can see below.

I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s projects. Don’t forget to pop over and see what the rest of the design team has come up with! Thanks for stopping by!

I am currently off up a mountain somewhere in Bavaria! I’ll be back online soon!

Colour Challenge Week #CCMC420

Picture Perfect by Stampin’ Up! for Create with Connie & Mary

This week it’s a colour challenge over at the Create with Connie & Mary Challenge Blog. These are totally my kind of colours! I don’t know why but I instantly thought of the hummingbird from Picture Perfect by Stampin’ Up! when I sat down to really look at this challenge. I haven’t used Picture Perfect for a while and have been itching to get it out and use it again. So that could be why!

CCMC420

Spoiler Alert: Look away now if you don’t want to see new product from the soon to be launched Autumn/Winter catalogue! I bet you look! Lol!

I absolutely love the new Ghoulish Grunge stamp set! To be honest there’s really only stamp in the set which I would say is really Halloweeny. The rest of the set is so versatile and can be used for backgrounds for any occasion.

To make the card:

  • I started by inking up the Brick image in Smoky Slate and stamping off on scrap paper before stamping onto the right hand side of my card front. You will need to stamp twice to cover the length of the card front.
  • Next, I inked up the paint drip image in Calypso Coral. Again I stamped off before I stamped onto the card front.
  • I stamped the humming bird first in stamped off Pool Party, then stamped the throat in Calypso Coral;
  • The 3rd stamp I used full strength Pool Party and finally I stamped the final bird image in Smoky Slate!

I hope you like it! Please do pop over to the Create with Connie & Mary Challenge Blog to see what the rest of the team have come up with for these colours!

New Sketch Challenge at Create with Connie & Mary

Using Pop of Paradise by Stampin’ Up! #CCMC419

CCMC419

I do love the sketch challenges that Connie & Mary come up with. And this week’s is no exception. I have used Pop of Paradise by Stampin’ Up! to create the elements of the sketch instead of using strips of DSP as I would normally have done. I love how the card has turned out!

Pop of Paradise by Stampin' Up! Tracy May CCMC419

I started by embossing the large leaf in the background directly onto the Whisper White card base. I then stamped the two smaller leaves in Old Olive onto a strip of Whisper White and then I stamped the pineapple in versamark ink and covered in Gold embossing powder. And I let some of the embossing powder cover the two leaves as well to see if any would stick. You can’t tell from the photo, but they have a lovely gold shimmer to them where some of the powder did stick.

I layered up the leaves and the pineapple over the large leaf, added the strips of Pop of Pink DSP and Gold Glimmer Paper and then added the cut out flamingo.

Finally I splattered some Tombow Multipurpose Adhesive I’d mixed with water using an aqua painter and splattered it over the card front. Then I sprinkled over some gold glitter and shook off the excess. It’s a technique I’ve wanted to try since first seeing Steffi Helmschrott using it on some of her cards!.

A World of Thanks by Stampin’ Up!

A World of Thanks by Stampin’ Up! #CCMC418

It’s a colour challenge over at Create with Connie & Mary this week. For some reason I thought this colour combination would work with water colouring. I decided on an emboss resist water colour technique using A World of Thanks by Stampin’ Up!

CCMC418

I started off by stamping A World of Thanks in Versamark ink onto watercolour paper, before covering in white embossing powder and setting with my heat gun. I then taped the watercolour paper down to a board and applied a layer of water all over it.

A World of Thanks by Stampin' Up! Tracy May CCMC418

I then took my ink pads and squeezed some ink onto the inside of the lids to pick up the ink up with an aqua painter. After applying the Mint Macaron, I then added Sweet Sugarplum and finally Rich Razzleberry!

To finish the card, I stamped a sentiment from Mixed Borders and cut it out with the 1 3/4″ circle punch, layered the watercolour card front onto a Rich Razzleberry layer and then mounted it onto a Whisper White card base.

I’m really pleased with the way it turned out. I haven’t used A World of Thanks by Stampin’ Up! for quite a while, so it was good to dust it off!

Please do pop along to the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge page and see what else the design team have come up with. You won’t be disappointed!

Serene Scenery DSP Stack by Stampin’ Up!

Serene Scenery DSP Stack by Stampin’ Up! #CCMC417

As soon as I saw the sketch for this week’s challenge over at Create with Connie and Mary, I formed the idea in my head for my card! It just took me a while to get around to making it! I had to use the Serene Scenery DSP Stack by Stampin’ Up!

CCMC417

I also knew as soon as I saw the sketch I was going to use the Sunshine Wishes thinlits Dies too! Come and see what I mean!

Serene Scenery DSP Stack by Stampin' Up!

I tried out a couple of card front ideas first before settling on the Kraft card stock. I had originally thought I would use So Saffron for the card front and Whisper White for the flower die cut but when I laid the Serene Scenery DSP strips along the Kraft card stock, I was struck by the golden glow of the image and decided to use Gold Foil instead. What do you think?

I stamped the sentiment from Thankful Thoughts in Versamark ink and embossed with Gold Embossing Powder and I finished off the card with a few gold sequins too!

I really love this sketch and think I will be using it again soon for some other ideas I have! Why don’t you pop over and see what all the other talented ladies on the Design Team have come up with!

Seaside Embossing Folder by Stampin’ Up!

Seaside Embossing Folder by Stampin’ Up! for #CCMC416

Yay, it’s Thursday which means it’s time for the weekly challenge over at Create with Connie & Mary! It also means that today is the first day of the school summer holidays! Wish me luck! I think I’m going to need it! 🙂

This week it is a colour challenge!

CCMC416

I was a bit stumped at first on this colour scheme but then slowly the nautical theme emerged. I was going to use Seaside Shore but I saw one of the other design team had had the same idea and already used it so, I thought I would try something else instead but sticking with the nautical theme!

Seaside Embossing Folder & Swirly Bird by Stampin' Up! Tracy May #CCMC416

I used the Seaside Embossing Folder to emboss some Whisper White card stock. I then got my brayer out and inked it up with Dapper Denim and went over the top of the embossing. It looked too white in between the waves so I pressed harder and inked up the spaces between the waves too. I then trimmed the top and popped the embossed panel onto a Whisper White Card front.

Seaside Embossing Folder & Swirly Bird by Stampin' Up! Tracy May #CCMC416

I stamped the sentiment above the waves in Mint Macaron. I also stamped the boat in Tip Top Taupe and the sails in Mint Macaron on another piece of Whisper White. Then I cut out the boat and sails and stuck them onto the card front, slightly under the waves!

I then mounted the card front onto a Tip Top Taupe card base!

Well I hope you like my project for today’s colour challenge! Please do pop over and see what the rest of the design team have made. You will not be disappointed!

Touches of Texture by Stampin’ Up!

Touches of Texture by Stampin’ Up! #CCMC415 Sketch Challenge

Hi I’m back with one of my favourite go-to stamps of the moment! Touches of Texture by Stampin’ Up! and as its Thursday that means it’s for the Create with Connie & Mary challenge, #CCMC415, which is a Sketch Challenge this week! And yes I’ve used Touches of Texture for the second challenge in a row!! 🙂

CCMC415

I’ve stuck to the square shape of the challenge sketch, which I normally don’t do as it means I have to make my own envelope for this card now! Oh yes I really am that lazy you know! Lol!

I’ve gone for a different look to what I would normally go for with this challenge. I hope you like it! There’s no Whisper White for a start!!!

Touches of Texture by Stampin' Up! Tracy May #CCMC415

But I do love how this card has turned out anyway!

  • I started with a 5″ x 5″ card base of Crumb Cake;
  • Then I sponged Crumb Cake ink around the edges of the Very Vanilla rectangle;
  • I stamped the flowers from Touches of Texture by Stampin’ Up! on the Very Vanilla Card stock and then used Dapper Denim and Delightful Dijon for added colour;
  • I used Washi tape and glimmer paper for the banner;
  • The main flower is heat embossed in gold embossing powder and coloured in Dapper Denim and Delightful Dijon!
  • The final touches are a few metallic sequins and thread!

I do very much think, that Touches of Texture by Stampin’ Up! is not just a background stamp set (as I originally thought). It is so versatile!

Please do go and see all the wonderful projects the Create with Connie and Mary design team have created for you! Many thanks x

More Touches of Texture by Stampin’ Up!

More Touches of Texture by Stampin’ Up! for CCMC414

It’s time for another Create with Connie & Mary Colour Challenge. I’m bringing you more Touches of Texture by Stampin’ Up! I love this stamp set and I hope it sticks around with Gorgeous Grunge for a long time to come!

The colours for this challenge are Peekaboo Peach, Tangerine Tango and Cucumber Crush.  I have to be honest, I have not been looking forward to creating something with this combination. I have been scratching my head since I first saw it and as usual I left it to the last minute to make my card.

More Touches of Texture by Stampin Up! Tracy May #CCMC414

I really love the card I came up with in the end! Sometimes for me, working under pressure is the best way. I don’t have time to overthink every single detail and whether it would look better a little different or in a different colour! LoL!

This card is really easy to create and would a great card if you need to make a big batch in one go!

  1. I stamped Peekaboo Peach as the background spatter;
  2. Stamp the flower stem in Cucumber Crush;
  3. Stamp the flower petals in Tangerine Tango;
  4. Stick a strip of the spotty Peekaboo Peach Washi Tape, from the Playful Palette Designer Washi Tape set, along the bottom right of the card front;
  5. Stamp your sentiment in StazOn along the Washi tape;
  6. Mount the card front onto a layer of Basic Black card stock and then onto a Whisper White Card Base;
  7. Finish off with some embellishments. I used the new Metallic Enamel Shapes (Silver).

That’s all there is to it. It’s a very simple, but very effective card. I hope you like it.

The rest of the design team have come up with more fantastic projects to inspire you, so pop over to the challenge page and take a look.
