New Sketch Challenge at Create with Connie & Mary

Using Pop of Paradise by Stampin’ Up! #CCMC419

CCMC419

I do love the sketch challenges that Connie & Mary come up with. And this week’s is no exception. I have used Pop of Paradise by Stampin’ Up! to create the elements of the sketch instead of using strips of DSP as I would normally have done. I love how the card has turned out!

Pop of Paradise by Stampin' Up! Tracy May CCMC419

I started by embossing the large leaf in the background directly onto the Whisper White card base. I then stamped the two smaller leaves in Old Olive onto a strip of Whisper White and then I stamped the pineapple in versamark ink and covered in Gold embossing powder. And I let some of the embossing powder cover the two leaves as well to see if any would stick. You can’t tell from the photo, but they have a lovely gold shimmer to them where some of the powder did stick.

I layered up the leaves and the pineapple over the large leaf, added the strips of Pop of Pink DSP and Gold Glimmer Paper and then added the cut out flamingo.

Finally I splattered some Tombow Multipurpose Adhesive I’d mixed with water using an aqua painter and splattered it over the card front. Then I sprinkled over some gold glitter and shook off the excess. It’s a technique I’ve wanted to try since first seeing Steffi Helmschrott using it on some of her cards!.

A World of Thanks by Stampin’ Up!

A World of Thanks by Stampin’ Up! #CCMC418

It’s a colour challenge over at Create with Connie & Mary this week. For some reason I thought this colour combination would work with water colouring. I decided on an emboss resist water colour technique using A World of Thanks by Stampin’ Up!

CCMC418

I started off by stamping A World of Thanks in Versamark ink onto watercolour paper, before covering in white embossing powder and setting with my heat gun. I then taped the watercolour paper down to a board and applied a layer of water all over it.

A World of Thanks by Stampin' Up! Tracy May CCMC418

I then took my ink pads and squeezed some ink onto the inside of the lids to pick up the ink up with an aqua painter. After applying the Mint Macaron, I then added Sweet Sugarplum and finally Rich Razzleberry!

To finish the card, I stamped a sentiment from Mixed Borders and cut it out with the 1 3/4″ circle punch, layered the watercolour card front onto a Rich Razzleberry layer and then mounted it onto a Whisper White card base.

I’m really pleased with the way it turned out. I haven’t used A World of Thanks by Stampin’ Up! for quite a while, so it was good to dust it off!

Please do pop along to the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge page and see what else the design team have come up with. You won’t be disappointed!

Serene Scenery DSP Stack by Stampin’ Up!

Serene Scenery DSP Stack by Stampin’ Up! #CCMC417

As soon as I saw the sketch for this week’s challenge over at Create with Connie and Mary, I formed the idea in my head for my card! It just took me a while to get around to making it! I had to use the Serene Scenery DSP Stack by Stampin’ Up!

CCMC417

I also knew as soon as I saw the sketch I was going to use the Sunshine Wishes thinlits Dies too! Come and see what I mean!

Serene Scenery DSP Stack by Stampin' Up!

I tried out a couple of card front ideas first before settling on the Kraft card stock. I had originally thought I would use So Saffron for the card front and Whisper White for the flower die cut but when I laid the Serene Scenery DSP strips along the Kraft card stock, I was struck by the golden glow of the image and decided to use Gold Foil instead. What do you think?

I stamped the sentiment from Thankful Thoughts in Versamark ink and embossed with Gold Embossing Powder and I finished off the card with a few gold sequins too!

I really love this sketch and think I will be using it again soon for some other ideas I have! Why don’t you pop over and see what all the other talented ladies on the Design Team have come up with!

Seaside Embossing Folder by Stampin’ Up!

Seaside Embossing Folder by Stampin’ Up! for #CCMC416

Yay, it’s Thursday which means it’s time for the weekly challenge over at Create with Connie & Mary! It also means that today is the first day of the school summer holidays! Wish me luck! I think I’m going to need it! 🙂

This week it is a colour challenge!

CCMC416

I was a bit stumped at first on this colour scheme but then slowly the nautical theme emerged. I was going to use Seaside Shore but I saw one of the other design team had had the same idea and already used it so, I thought I would try something else instead but sticking with the nautical theme!

Seaside Embossing Folder & Swirly Bird by Stampin' Up! Tracy May #CCMC416

I used the Seaside Embossing Folder to emboss some Whisper White card stock. I then got my brayer out and inked it up with Dapper Denim and went over the top of the embossing. It looked too white in between the waves so I pressed harder and inked up the spaces between the waves too. I then trimmed the top and popped the embossed panel onto a Whisper White Card front.

Seaside Embossing Folder & Swirly Bird by Stampin' Up! Tracy May #CCMC416

I stamped the sentiment above the waves in Mint Macaron. I also stamped the boat in Tip Top Taupe and the sails in Mint Macaron on another piece of Whisper White. Then I cut out the boat and sails and stuck them onto the card front, slightly under the waves!

I then mounted the card front onto a Tip Top Taupe card base!

Well I hope you like my project for today’s colour challenge! Please do pop over and see what the rest of the design team have made. You will not be disappointed!

Touches of Texture by Stampin’ Up!

Touches of Texture by Stampin’ Up! #CCMC415 Sketch Challenge

Hi I’m back with one of my favourite go-to stamps of the moment! Touches of Texture by Stampin’ Up! and as its Thursday that means it’s for the Create with Connie & Mary challenge, #CCMC415, which is a Sketch Challenge this week! And yes I’ve used Touches of Texture for the second challenge in a row!! 🙂

CCMC415

I’ve stuck to the square shape of the challenge sketch, which I normally don’t do as it means I have to make my own envelope for this card now! Oh yes I really am that lazy you know! Lol!

I’ve gone for a different look to what I would normally go for with this challenge. I hope you like it! There’s no Whisper White for a start!!!

Touches of Texture by Stampin' Up! Tracy May #CCMC415

But I do love how this card has turned out anyway!

  • I started with a 5″ x 5″ card base of Crumb Cake;
  • Then I sponged Crumb Cake ink around the edges of the Very Vanilla rectangle;
  • I stamped the flowers from Touches of Texture by Stampin’ Up! on the Very Vanilla Card stock and then used Dapper Denim and Delightful Dijon for added colour;
  • I used Washi tape and glimmer paper for the banner;
  • The main flower is heat embossed in gold embossing powder and coloured in Dapper Denim and Delightful Dijon!
  • The final touches are a few metallic sequins and thread!

I do very much think, that Touches of Texture by Stampin’ Up! is not just a background stamp set (as I originally thought). It is so versatile!

Please do go and see all the wonderful projects the Create with Connie and Mary design team have created for you! Many thanks x

More Touches of Texture by Stampin’ Up!

More Touches of Texture by Stampin’ Up! for CCMC414

It’s time for another Create with Connie & Mary Colour Challenge. I’m bringing you more Touches of Texture by Stampin’ Up! I love this stamp set and I hope it sticks around with Gorgeous Grunge for a long time to come!

The colours for this challenge are Peekaboo Peach, Tangerine Tango and Cucumber Crush.  I have to be honest, I have not been looking forward to creating something with this combination. I have been scratching my head since I first saw it and as usual I left it to the last minute to make my card.

More Touches of Texture by Stampin Up! Tracy May #CCMC414

I really love the card I came up with in the end! Sometimes for me, working under pressure is the best way. I don’t have time to overthink every single detail and whether it would look better a little different or in a different colour! LoL!

This card is really easy to create and would a great card if you need to make a big batch in one go!

  1. I stamped Peekaboo Peach as the background spatter;
  2. Stamp the flower stem in Cucumber Crush;
  3. Stamp the flower petals in Tangerine Tango;
  4. Stick a strip of the spotty Peekaboo Peach Washi Tape, from the Playful Palette Designer Washi Tape set, along the bottom right of the card front;
  5. Stamp your sentiment in StazOn along the Washi tape;
  6. Mount the card front onto a layer of Basic Black card stock and then onto a Whisper White Card Base;
  7. Finish off with some embellishments. I used the new Metallic Enamel Shapes (Silver).

That’s all there is to it. It’s a very simple, but very effective card. I hope you like it.

The rest of the design team have come up with more fantastic projects to inspire you, so pop over to the challenge page and take a look.

Penned & Painted from Stampin’ Up!

Penned & Painted from Stampin’ Up! for Create with Connie & Mary #CCMC412

Yay it’s Thursday again. I’m always surprised by how fast it comes around! You know what that means don’t you? Yes, it’s time for another challenge over at Create with Connie & Mary! This week’s challenge #CCMC412 is a colour challenge.

CCMC412

I love this colour combination. It’s just up my street! I will have to remember this one for future use!

Penned & Painted from Stampin' Up! Tracy May #CCMC412

I have been wanting to get Penned & Painted from Stampin’ Up! out since I got it a few weeks ago. Today’s challenge was perfect for it!

I started by stamping the “penned” flower outlines in Memento Tuxedo Black. I then “painted” the flowers using the filler stamps. I used Blushing Bride for the full image and Watermelon Wonder for the centre image. I stamped off first each time, in order to achieve a muted, softer flower.

Penned & Painted from Stampin' Up! Tracy May #CCMC412

I used the new Petal Burst embossing folder to emboss a panel of Pool Party card stock for the background layer. I actually prefer the reverse or “de-bossed” side to be honest. I think it’s a bit softer looking than the embossed side. Mind you I prefer this for quite a few of the embossing folders! Is that weird or normal? LoL!

I finished off the card with some Rhinestones and a strip of silver glimmer paper down the side. If you follow my blog you may think this card is pretty similar to the one I posted on Monday featuring Mixed Drinks. It’s the same layout, with a Pool Party embossed layer as the one on Monday, but actually I made this card first and CASE’d myself as I liked this card so much! I hope you do too!

I hope you manage to pop over to the Create with Connie & Mary challenge. Hopefully you will feel inspired to join us this week!

Seaside Shore from Stampin’ Up!

Seaside Shore from Stampin’ Up! for #CCMC411

It’s time for another Create with Connie & Mary Challenge and I’m much happier with this week’s card than I was last week’s. I used Seaside Shore from Stampin’ Up! I pretty much decided when I first saw the sketch for today’s card, I was going to wait for this set to arrive before I made the card.

CCMC411

I just didn’t know I would love the co-ordinating By The Shore Designer Series Paper so much I would actually use it for the full background panel on a card! Those who follow my blog will know I have an aversion to too much DSP, partly because I don’t like cutting into beautiful patterns lol!

Seaside Shore from Stampin' Up! Tracy May #CCMC411

I used Dapper Denim, Mint Macaron and Calypso Coral which are all core colours in the paper for stamping my fish, seaweed and the sentiment. What do you think? I kind of like it!

Hope you head over and check out what the rest of the design team have made. They are a lovely bunch of very talented ladies, so I’m sure you be impressed and inspired!

Thanks for stopping by!

Water coloured Watercolour Wings from Stampin’ Up! #CCMC410

Water coloured Watercolour Wings from Stampin’ Up! #CCMC410

It’s another colour challenge this week over at Create with Connie & Mary #CCMC410. I left my card to the last minute this time, as I was busy prepping for my end of month class and then Open House on Saturday for the launch of the new Stampin’ Up! catalogue, but as I’d seen the colours a few weeks in advance I was quietly confident I wouldn’t have any trouble coming up with something!

CCMC410

I mean what could be tough about two of my go to colours – Bermuda Bay and Daffodil Delight – teamed up with Kraft/Crumb Cake??? Well that will teach me to not be so cocky about it in future! I am not 100% happy with it.

Watercolour Butterflies using Watercolor Wings from Stampin' Up! Tracy May_CCMC410 main

  1. I decided on a Kraft card base and then decided on soft watercolour butterflies for the background;
  2. I spritzed the water colour paper with water and allowed it to soak in for a few moments before stamping Daffodil Delight butterflies from Watercolor Wings. I stamped off first onto scrap paper and lightly spritzed the stamp before stamping;
  3. I dried the watercolour paper with my heat gun and then stamped the butterfly detail in Bermuda Bay – again I stamped off first and then spritzed with water before drying with the heat gun again;
  4. I then mounted the water colour paper onto Bermuda Bay matt. I decided to go for a quirky side matt and I rounded the top left and bottom right of all pieces of card stock using the corner rounder  on my envelope punch board;
  5. I added the Gold Metallic Twine under the Bermuda Bay and Vellum butterflies and added the sentiment from Thoughtful Banners;
  6. I felt the card was lacking something so I added the sliver of gold glimmer paper to form the butterfly’s body and antennae and I splattered gold Wink of Stella all over the card before finishing of with a couple of gold sequins!

I like the individual elements of the card but I’m not completely happy with it assembled together! It was, however, too late to start again from scratch!

Oh well we live and learn. Maybe I should have used Crumb Cake in the water colouring too? If it bugs me enough I will have another go at it and show you what I come up with! 😊

Please do pop over and see what the rest of the design team has come up with. They’ve all made super cards to inspire you!

Pop of Paradise from Stampin’ Up! for #CCMC409

Pop of Paradise from Stampin’ Up! for #CCMC409

It’s Thursday again, which means it’s time for this week’s challenge from Create with Connie & Mary! This week is a sketch challenge – phew! I do find them easier than the Colour Challenges, but then I guess the clue is in the word challenge and they are meant to encourage us to step out of our comfort zones after all! 🙂

CCMC409

So it’s a great sketch isn’t it? But of course I can not just follow it can I? Oh no! I had to rotate it 90 degrees clockwise, so I could get it to work with the flamingo image from Pop of Paradise!

Pop of Paradise from Stampin' Up! with Pop of Pink DSP Tracy May #CCMC409

I knew instantly I saw the sketch I would use Pop of Pink Designer Series Paper for the banners, which then led me to use Pop of Paradise from Stampin’ Up! as the stamp set for the image and the button!

I heat embossed the flamingo in white embossing powder onto watercolour paper, then water coloured  Melon Mambo around him using the ink refill bottle and an Aqua painter. The Hello sentiment is simply stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, with some gold metallic thread and gold sequins to finish it off – what do you think? I hope you like it!
