Woodland TIEF by Stampin’ Up!

Woodland TIEF by Stampin’ Up! #GDP067

As promised earlier in the week, I am back with my second entry for the Global Design Project’s Tree themed challenge! This time I’m using the Woodland TIEF by Stampin’ Up!, which is extremely popular with my customers!

I’ve used this embossing folder for a few cards that I’ve posted on my blog and this time I wanted to try out something a bit different. I’ve seen lots of awesome watercolour birch pictures on Pinterest that have been painted free hand. Unfortunately, I just don’t have the skill to do that, so I cheated to make today’s card. And I love how it’s turned out!

Woodland TIEF by Stampin' Up! using watercolour pencils Tracy May #GDP067

I embossed a piece of watercolour paper, using the Woodland TIEF by Stampin’ Up! Then I painted in between the trees with masking fluid and allowed it to dry. Once the masking fluid was dry, I painted the trees with the new watercolour pencils that are available from January 4th in the new Spring/Summer Catalogue (email me if you are in the UK and don’t already have one!).

I removed the dried masking fluid and flicked some paint from the end of the watercolour pencils using a wet paint brush. You can also use an aqua painter for this. So what do you think? I love how it turned out!

Thanks for stopping by, I’m hoping to get some more time in my craft room over the weekend. I’ll share what I come up with over the next few weeks so please do pop back again to check. Or sign up to follow me by email if you like!

And don’t forget if you want to buy anything from the retiring Autumn/Winter catalogue you only have until January 3rd! So don’t miss out – click on the table below. Don’t forget to use the monthly gift code if your order is under £150! You will receive a free gift from me in January if you do!

Stampin’ Up! Autumn/Winter 2016 Catalogue retires soon

Stampin’ Up! Autumn/Winter 2016 Catalogue retires soon

Time is flying really quickly! The Stampin’ Up! Autumn/Winter 2016 Catalogue will retire in a few days time! I’ve barely used those lovely stamp sets and dies that I was so eager to get my hands on when I first saw the catalogue back in August. Unfortunately my crafting has had to take a back seat over the last few months due to other commitments. But, I managed to spend some time in my craft room in between cooking and spending time with the boys over the course of the Christmas break.

I wanted to use my Halloween Scenes Edgelits again before they retire and also I have been dying to play along with the Global Design Project challenge again. As luck would have it their theme is Trees! Yay! Perfect for the card I have created.  Waving hello to all the design team. I still visit the blog for inspiration even though I haven’t had the chance to play along lately!

Halloween Scenes Edgelits by Stampin' Up! Autumn/Winter Catalogue 2016

I die cut the tree and the picket fence from watercolour paper using the retiring Halloween Scenes Edgelits.  Then I created a little water colour scene using the fabulous new watercolour pencils, that will be available from January 4th in the new Spring/Summer 2017 catalogue.

My card was inspired by this card on Pinterest that I saw ages ago and have been wanting to CASE ever since.

The sentiment is from Thankful Thoughts – I didn’t realise I had some air bubbles on the letters f and h which is what caused the splodging! I don’t think it looks too bad though does it? Not enough to waste the card over anyway! Handmade imperfections etc etc!

Well that’s it from me. I have another card I will post on the GDP challenge before the deadline on 2nd January! Don’t forget if you want the Halloween Scenes Edgelits or any of the other retiring products from the Stampin’ Up! Autumn/Winter 2016 catalogue you have until January 3rd!

Thanks for stopping by!

Weather Together by Stampin’ Up!

It’s CASE the designer week at Global Design Project

GDP048

This week it’s the turn of the talented Tanja Kolar to be the designer to CASE. I love Tanja’s projects and it’s great to get the chance to CASE her! I took the overall look of Tanja’s card and the colours for my CASE using Weather Together by Stampin’ Up! For some reason the balloons in Tanja’s card made me think of umbrellas. Weird but I love how my card turned out!

Weather Together by Stampin' Up! Tracy May #GDP48

I started by taping some watercolour paper (14.8cm x 8.5cm) down onto a board and then stamping the umbrella tops with Basic Black Archival Ink. I then masked them off and covered up with masking fluid before water colouring the background with Tempting Turquoise and Night of Navy ink refills and an aqua painter. When it was dry I splattered water from the aqua painter over it  and let it dry again.

Before I removed the masking fluid I stamped the umbrella handles. I coloured each of the umbrellas using the colour of Tanja’s balloons as inspiration.  Finally I stitched the watercolour paper onto a Crumb Cake card front and mounted it onto a Whisper White card base.

So what do you think?

You’re Sublime by Stampin’ Up!

You’re Sublime by Stampin’ Up! for #GDP047

GDP047

It’s theme week over at the Global Design Project Challenge Blog. There are some fabulous examples by the Design Team. I took inspiration from Michelle’s and Steffi’s entries this week and came up with this lovely little water coloured birthday card using You’re Sublime by Stampin’ Up! I also used Seaside Shore for the seaweed and sentiment.

You're Sublime by Stampin' Up! Tracy May #GDP047

I used one of my water colour paint palettes for this card. First I stamped the seaweed using Basic Black Archival ink, masked the reeds using masking fluid and then stamped the submarine minus the sentiment which comes on the stamp. I also masked the submarine with masking fluid. Then I taped the water colour paper down and painted the sea using a coeruleum blue and veridian green. I did a couple of washes to get the depth and then spattered Prussian blue over it. Once it was all dry, I removed the masking fluid and tape and painted the submarine and seaweed. Finally I stamped the sentiment. I used my MISTI as I am a bit flaky with the stamp-a-majig!

What do you think? I think it’s really cute, although my 5 year old son assures me his friend (who it is intended for) won’t like it as he only likes sharks apparently!!

I hope you like it anyway! I do! Lol!

Don’t forget about the wonderful new bundle available from today!

Happy Heart by Stampin’ Up!

Happy Heart by Stampin’ Up! #GDP046

Hi there! I’m back today with a sweet thank you card using Happy Heart by Stampin’ Up! It’s my entry for the latest sketch challenge over at Global Design Project #GDP046.

GDP046

I’m still into my brayering over embossed panels at the moment! Forgive me, I’ll get over it soon lol! I started by embossing a panel of Whisper White card stock using Happy Heart by Stampin’ Up! I then created an ombre effect using Soft Sky, Pool Party and Bermuda Bay ink.

Happy Heart by Stampin' Up! Tracy May #GDP046

I mounted the panel onto a layer of Bermuda Bay, added the heart and ribbon at the top and then the sentiment to the side.

The sentiment is from Thankful Thoughts and is embossed in White Embossing Powder.

I’m sticking with my keep it simple approach still! What do you think? I hope you like it!

Papillon Potpourri by Stampin’ Up!

Papillon Potpourri by Stampin’ Up! #GDP045

I’m back with a super quick post today! I’m entering the Colour Challenge over at Global Design Project and I’m using Papillon Potpourri by Stampin’ Up! I haven’t used this stamp set in a while, so it was nice to get it out and ink it up for this challenge!

GDP045_Colour_Challenge

I love this colour combination! My instant thought was to make the card that I am entering, but for some reason, I started fiddling around with other designs. Non of which turned out the way I wanted, so eventually I reverted back to the original idea of using Papillon Potpourri by Stampin’ Up! of course!

Papillon Potpourri by Stampin' Up! Tracy May #GDP046

I like my card but I don’t think it’s a winner this week, which is a shame (or probably a blessing really)! The Global Design Project team have announced that from this week, they will pick one of the winners of the challenge to be a guest designer on the next colour challenge!

GDP_Guest_Designer_Blog_Header

It’s absolutely great fun being a guest on the design team. I had the honour once and I would love to do it again! Why don’t you join in and give it a go! You never know, you could be the next winner!

Butterfly Basics by Stampin’ Up! #GDP044

Butterfly Basics by Stampin’ Up! #GDP044 CASE the Designer

This week’s challenge over at Global Design Project is CASE the Designer. This time it’s the turn of the super talented Artisan Design team member, Steffi Helmschrott! I absolutely LOVE Steffi’s style and follow her blog avidly to see what gorgeousness she has come up with! So it’s a bit of a challenge CASEing Steffi and coming up with something I am happy with. Steffi’s CASE card uses the leaf from Butterfly Basics by Stampin’ Up! for the background, so this is where I started for my CASE.GDP044 Case Steffi

I then chose the Crumb Cake and Gold elements from Steffi’s card. I love the white space she has left on her collage background. I usually leave a lot of white space too, but I decided to step out of my comfort zone and opted for a much grungier look!  What do you think? I think I may break out in hives due to the lack of white space! Ha ha ha – it’s giving me the heebee jeebies! Lol!

Butterfly Basics by Stampin' Up! Tracy May #GDP044

I started by sponging Crumb Cake onto a Whisper White card base. I then roughed up the edges with a metal ruler and sponged again around the edges with Rose Red and then a touch of Pool Party. I stamped the leaves and flower images from Butterfly Basics in Crumb Cake. I stamped off first before stamping onto my card front to mute the overall look. I then stamped the butterfly image from the new In This World stamp set. Again I stamped off the Memento Black ink on scrap paper before stamping onto the card front. I used the scrap image to colour in and cut out for layering over the top of the Gold Metallic thread.

I finished off with some splatters in Rose Red using the image in Butterfly Basics and then I spattered some Gold Wink Of Stella over the card front. The sentiment is gold heat embossed and is from Thankful thoughts.

A few people have recently mentioned to me that they can recognise my cards on Pinterest without seeing my watermark or blog post. Do you think they will recognise this card as mine? I wonder. I don’t think it’s my usual style – do you?

It’s Party Time using Stampin’ Up! Products #GDP043

It’s Party Time using Stampin’ Up! Products #GDP043

GDP043

It’s Party Time using Stampin’ Up! Products, as this week’s challenge over at the Global Design Project, is the theme Party! Before I share my project with you though, I just want to blow my own trumpet a little! I’m sure you won’t mind, as I don’t do it too often! Lol! I won last week’s sketch challenge (click here to see my post)! I was blown away by the comments I received for my little sparrow! I had thought he was a little dull so I’d added Wink of Stella to jazz him up a bit! Seems to have worked! So thank you to everyone who left a lovely comment and thank you GDP team for choosing me as one of the winners!

So who wants to see my Party card? I couldn’t resist revisiting an idea I had had last year for this theme (click here to see that card) . Now for my entry to #GDP043!

Let's Party Using Stampin' Up! Products Tracy May No Bones About It #GDP043

This card does make me smile! The Pool Party embossed panel wasn’t meant to be on at such a drunken angle! I used Fast Fuse on the back and accidentally dropped it when I was about to stick it down straight! It landed right where it is now and was instantly stuck there!! I knew with it being Fast Fuse I only had 2 options 1. recreate it all over again or 2. leave as is! Lol! I do quite like it really!

I love the new Labeler Alphabet stamp set that I used for the sentiment. It’s so much easier than my beloved Rotary Alphabet stamp that retired at the end of May. I was a bit bereft when I saw it on the Retiring List, but this stamp set is such a great replacement!

Best Birds & Birds & Blooms by Stampin’ Up!

Best Birds & Birds & Blooms by Stampin’ Up! for #GDP042

Happy Monday folks! I’m back after a busy weekend, no crafting, hence the lateness of today’s post! For today’s card I checked what was happening on the Global Design Project challenge this week. Hurrah! It’s a fantastic sketch by the super-talented Teneale Williams! Phew!

GDP042

I already had the card front with the circle stamped using the Hardwood background stamp in my basked of unfinished projects. I had stamped through a mask that I made using window sheet a while back. The mask can be reused multiple times and just wipes clean as well!

The wood background made me think of Best Birds & Birds & Blooms by Stampin’ Up! Best Birds is a fabulous new stamp set and Birds & Blooms is the co-ordinating thinlits die set!

Best Birds & Birds & Blooms by Stampin' Up! Tracy May #GDP042

I stamped one of the sparrows and the branch in Basic Black Archival ink onto watercolour paper. I water coloured the sparrow first in a thin wash of So Saffron ink, before going over the top with Crumb Cake. I then added Chocolate Chip and Early Espresso around the top of the head, eyes, wings and tails. I felt the belly and cheeks were a bit too Crumb Cakey so I lifted some of the ink off with the aqua painter and kitchen towel. I love that you can do that with water colouring to high light certain areas.

Best Birds & Birds & Blooms by Stampin' Up! Tracy May 00002

I thought the background needed a bit of a lift, so I splattered clear Wink of Stella all over it before adding it to a Soft Sky card base. I popped the bird and the branch up using the new foam adhesive strips. I also added a few sequins to finish the card off.

So what do you think? I really love this new bundle of stamps and thinlits! I’ve got a few more ideas swirling around my brain for them too!

Thanks for stopping by! You can purchase any of the products used via my online shop if you are in the UK, France, Germany, Austria or the Netherlands! Thank you for your support!

Touches of Texture from Stampin’ Up! #GDP041

Touches of Texture from Stampin’ Up! Colour Challenge for #GDP041

Gdp041-2

I’m back today with a card I’ve made for the Global Design Challenge colour challenge this week. I’m using Touches of Texture from Stampin’ Up! I know this stamp set is going to become a firm favourite along with Timeless Texture and Gorgeous Grunge for background stamping. But, you can also use Touches of Texture as the star of the show, as I’ve done with my card. I found the colours a little challenging (ahem no pun intended!) again this week. I am determined to persevere and conquer this colour challenge phobia of mine though!

Touches of Texture from Stampin' Up! Tracy May #GDP041

I decided to use Sweet Sugarplum for the card base. Then I went with a mat of Night of Navy underneath the Whisper White card front. Once I had decided on that combination, it seemed to make sense to stamp the background splatter in Sweet Sugarplum and use Night of Navy for the focal image.

Touches of Texture from Stampin' Up! Tracy May #GDP041

I also stamped onto the card base using Sweet Sugarplum and decided I like the layers off-kilter too. I’m not 100% happy with it, but I can’t put my finger on why not? What do you think?

I stamped the sentiment from Thankful Thoughts. I’ve severely depleted my stock of thank you cards this month with all the orders from the new catalogue, so you will probably be seeing a load more thank you cards from me for a while, as I build it back up again!

Well that’s it from me. Do pop over to the Global Design Challenge and take a look at what the super talented design team have come up with! They are all amazing!
