Thank You Card using Stampin’ Up!’ products – Beautiful Ride

Stampin' Up! Spring/Summer 2016 Catalogue - SAB

I was browsing Pinterest last week looking for ideas, which I often do – usually late at night on my phone when I should really be sleeping! Who needs sleep anyways?! 🙂 I stumbled across this picture of Snoopy in his little red car and had a flash of inspiration for Beautiful Ride, which is a fantastic stamp set from Stampin’ Up! ®. I love this stamp set but it seems that every idea I have, I then spot a card on Pinterest that someone else has already done!

I used my alcohol markers for this card as I wanted the bright, bold colours of the markers that are possible on Whisper White card stock. I started with the sky using the marker blender pen and then going over with a couple of different shades of blue. I stamped Thanks from Tin of Card Stamp set along a strip of Whisper White and added it along the bottom of the sky background.

I then stamped the car and the little dog in Memento Black ink and coloured in using a few shades of red. I drew in the line down the side of the front window and then extended the window lines along the top of the car door panels, before cutting it all out and sticking it on Stampin’ Dimensionals over the top of the sky, just above the sentiment.

I added the little white flowers in White StazOn afterwards just to add a bit more interest. What do you think? I thought it was quite a fun card! 😀

Don’t forget the Stampin’ Up! Sale-a-bration promotion finishes at the end of March – there’s only 4 days to go! I can’t believe how fast the time has gone!

Altered Images Helping Me Grow from Stampin’ Up!

Different Daisies – Altered Images Helping Me Grow from Stampin’ Up!

Stampin' Up! Spring/Summer 2016 Catalogue - SAB

Do you ever want to alter how a stamped image looks? With photopolymer stamps it’s very easy to do. I used the Helping Me Grow set from Stampin’ Up! and altered the way the daisies are stamped.

I wanted the daisies to be the focal point but not overwhelm the card, as I also wanted the stripy DSP borders down each side and the grey from the card base to show through. The largest daisy in the set, whilst gorgeous, is huge and I thought it would just dominate too much.

Altered Images Helping Me Grow from Stampin' Up! Different Daisies Tracy May

I used my Smoky Slate Stampin’ Write Marker to brush directly over the two entwined daisies and stamped so the open daisy was in the centre. After cleaning the stamp set, I then used the marker pen to only colour and then stamp the bud which you see on the right. As the stamps are photopolymer lining them up was a doddle! You can see how the daisies come “out of the box” below or check out another of my cards here.

Helping Me Grow Stampin' Up!

I coloured the daisies with alcohol markers and added a shadow around the daisies with a very light grey to make them stand out more. The sentiment is stamped with Basic Grey ink and I thought the splash of Daffodil Delight card stock just finished off the card perfectly. What do you think?

I really like it. Altering the images like this gives you loads of possibilities from just one stamp set. Give it a go – it’s really easy I promise! 😊

Thank You Cards for #GDP027

Thank You Cards for #GDP027

The theme for this week’s challenge over at Global Design Project is Thank You! The design team have personally picked one of the regular participants to receive the cards they have made for the Design Team Inspiration and I am absolutely blown away that the fabulously talented Teneale Williams picked me! Her card is fantastic and she went to so much effort, checking out my blog to use the colours from my header in her card. Here is her fantastic card! Don’t you just love it? Head over to Global Design Project website to check out all the other Design Team projects and the participants entries too!

GDP027 Thank you

Now for my own entry this week. There couldn’t be a better challenge for me as I make so many Thank You cards anyway so the cards I have made will be put to good use by going to my lovely customers! I had a couple of background panels lurking in my unfinished projects basket that I have been wondering what to do with. I loved the backgrounds a lot so wanted them to be a large part of the card and not be hidden in the …..well background lol! As I just got the Botanical Builder Framelits, I decided to use those. I just love these flowers so much!

Botanical Builder Framelits from Stampin' Up! Tracy May

I sponged a combination of Melon Mambo around the edges and Pink Pirouette in the middle before splashing with drops of water to get the bokeh effect for this card. My original idea was to have the flowers and leaves as one tone, using Pink Pirouette, but it was so much pink, I broke out in hives lol! Now this is my favourite of the two!

Botanical Builder Framelits from Stampin' Up! Tracy May

This card is much softer and I do like the white on white of the flowers and leaves. The background is sponged in an ombre effect with Pink Pirouette and Blushing Bride.

What do you think? Which one do you prefer?

Don’t forget to go and check out the other entries on the challenge this week!

Birthday Blooms Sketch Card #FMS226

Birthday Blooms – a Sketch Card for Freshly Made Sketches #FMS226

Stampin' Up! Spring/Summer 2016 Catalogue - SAB

I’m back today with another card using Birthday Blooms from Stampin’ Up!, which I’m entering in to the Freshly Made Sketches #fms226 challenge this week. I’m sneaking in with a last minute entry I think, as the challenge closes today.

FMS Final 226-001

When I was making these Mother’s Day cards that I posted the other week, I also coloured an extra flower and fussy cut it. It’s been languishing in the unfinished projects baskets ever since. But as soon as I saw the sketch on Freshly Made Sketches, I knew it had found a home!

Birthday Blooms from Stampin' Up! Tracy May #fms226

I didn’t like the way the flower looked at the top, so I changed the sketch slightly so it’s at the bottom and I think it looks much better there. Fussy me – I know! Lol!

Don’t forget Sale-a-bration ends this month. There are some new gifts to choose from too as well as all the other luscious products that are still available.

What I Love & Happy Patterns from Stampin’ Up!

Stampin' Up! Spring/Summer 2016 Catalogue - SAB

I’m back today with a card I made using What I Love & Happy Patterns from Stampin’ Up! I usually post on a Friday but my internet connection bombed out yesterday and wasn’t back up in time to get the post out. Anyway, without further ado here it is! I hope you like it.

What I Love & Happy Patterns from Stampin' Up! Tracy May

I created the circle in the middle by putting a circle mask over the Happy Patterns Decorative Mask and blending Pink Pirouette, Blushing Bride and a touch of Calypso Coral. I forgot to put some tape down the full length of the side and got some ink on it, hence the strip of Dazzling Diamond Glimmer Paper. I think it’s starting to become a trademark look! Lol!

The flowers are from the fabulous What I Love Sale-a-bration set – one of my favourites!

Don’t forget that Sale-a-bration ends on 31st March. It’s a fantastic time to buy the Starter Kit!

Stampin’ Up! Sale-a-bration Sky is the Limit

Stampin’ Up! Sale-a-bration Sky is the Limit is still available whilst stocks last!

Stampin' Up! Spring/Summer 2016 Catalogue - SAB

If you missed out on the Stampin’ Up! Sale-a-bration Sky is the Limit stamp set earlier in Sale-a-bration I have good news for you. It’s still available whilst stocks last. There is a little note in the Sale-a-bration brochure that says that availability might be temporarily extended based on inventory.

Stampin' Up! Sale-a-bration Sky Is The Limit by Tracy May

I teamed Stampin’ Up! Sale-a-bration Sky is the Limit with the World Traveler embossing folder from the Spring/Summer 2016 catalogue. I wanted a ticker tape type of sentiment “scrolling” across the card so I used the Stamp-a-majig and the Basic Black Marker pen on the sentiment from Sky is the Limit so I could stamp Happy and Birthday side by side.

I also made a gift box to match the card. The box was the perfect size for the mug, which the boys “bought” for their grandad for his birthday.

So what do you think? Great for guys isn’t it!

Rose Wonder from Stampin’ Up!

March 2, 2016 By

Rose Wonder from Stampin’ Up!

I’m back today with a card I made using a couple of the smaller stamps from Rose Wonder from Stampin’ Up! I don’t think I have actually seen any cards on Pinterest using this little flower stamp, as I think it’s probably been somewhat overlooked by the stunning rose, which is certainly the star of this stamp set.

Rose Wonder from Stampin' Up! Tracy May

I do, however, love this little flower stamp and the leaves. They are perfect for colouring in. I’m really into colouring in in a big way at the moment. It’s so relaxing! For this card I wanted to create a colouring book page style card front, so I randomly stamped the leaves over the card before stamping the flowers here and there. I sat colouring it in with alcohol markers, whilst watching Happy Valley on BBC1 last night.

I wasn’t following any particular technique – just playing around with colour combinations to see what I liked. I like the way it’s turned out, although I can’t say it’s coloured to any degree of sophistication lol!

Before I go, I have some good news for you regarding the 3 Sale-a-bration items that retired mid-February. There’s still a wee bit of stock left and so availability has been temporarily extended, which means you can still order them if you missed out the first time around.

Sunburst Sayings from Stampin’ Up!

March 1, 2016 By

Sunburst Sayings from Stampin’ Up!

Well after unintentionally creating a card yesterday, that was very similar to the super talented Teneale Williams, who is one of the Global Design Projects Design Team, I’ve been, in contrast, on an all out CASE (copy and share everything) offensive for today’s card. I used Sunburst Sayings from Stampin’ Up! ®.

I had been planning to use the Sunburst Thinlits and Sunburst Sayings from Stampin’ Up! for todays post and had intended to make a completely different card to the one I ended up making. Instead I decided to CASE the water colour card from the Spring/Summer 2016 catalogue shown below top left.

Occasions16_p25_a

I borrowed the colour scheme from Global Design Project’s challenge this week, which is Daffodil Delight, Smoky Slate and Basic Grey, although I’m not going to enter this card, as I only entered one yesterday!

Sunburst Sayings from Stampin' Up! Tracy May

I also borrowed the jaunty angles from Teneale’s card. Like I said I’ve been on a CASE offensive Lol! I hope you like today’s card.

Beautiful Ride from Stampin’ Up!

February 29, 2016 By

Beautiful Ride from Stampin’ Up!

I’m back with a quick post today using Beautiful Ride from Stampin’ Up! ® I’ve wanted to have a play with this stamp set for a while now and finally have gotten around to it! It’s a really fun set. I had some watercolour paper out as I was playing around with watercolour backgrounds earlier this morning and then I realised the time, so I set to and knocked up a quick card, which I am entering in to this week’s Global Design Project challenge #GDP025, which is a colour challenge! (UPDATED: I’ve just gone to post my link on the GDP site and seen Teneale Williams card, which is quite similar to mine – that will teach me to check all the designers posts BEFORE I make mine!!)

Colour Challenge

Well I say quick…. I stamped the “road” in Smoky Slate using the Work of Art stamp set and then stamped the car in Basic Grey which is an archival ink and therefore waterproof. I water coloured the car with Daffodil Delight  re-inker and an aqua painter and then coloured the windows and wheels with Smoky Slate and the aqua painter. That took only a few minutes. I also water coloured a thin strip of watercolour paper with the remaining Daffodil Ink. I then dashed off to my kick boxing class leaving it to dry…

Beautiful Ride from Stampin' Up! Tracy May

…. one class, shower and lunch later… I threw together the rest of the card. I stamped the little doggy in the window (ahhhhhhh now I have that song going round and round my head!!), coloured him in with a blender pen and the ink pads before sticking the water colour card front to a layer of Daffodil Delight I then stuck the strip of Neutrals DSP down (and yes it is hiding a mistake – well spotted! Lol!) I then stamped the sentiment in Basic Grey and stapled it to the card front. I mounted the two layers onto a Smoky Slate card base, using Stampin’ Dimentsionals. I wanted to keep it pretty simple and think I’ve managed to achieve that lol! What do you think? Quick and easy right! You can always speed up the drying process with a heat gun!
