Watercolour Bloomin’ Hearts from Stampin’ Up!

Watercolour Bloomin’ Hearts from Stampin’ Up!

I made this card AGES ago! I die cut a heart out of watercolour paper using Bloomin’ Hearts from Stampin’ Up!, grabbed an aquapainter and my Pool Party, Pear Pizazz, So Saffron, Calypso Coral and Wild Wasabi Ink pads and set to it!

After it was dry, I wasn’t actually that impressed with it to be honest! I told my friend Delphine it looked like something one of my sons might have done! It really looked like a child had done it! Lol! The heart languished in my basket of unfinished ideas for a couple of weeks and then, I decided I wouldn’t write it off as a disaster, until I had seen what the heart looked like on a card base. I took out various colours but as soon as I put it over the Kraft card stock I could see the transformation instantly!

The Kraft card just lifts the whole heart and adding the little flowers with a touch of ink water-coloured around the edges adds the final touch. I used Candy Dot centres for the middles of the flowers too.

I love this card now. And I certainly don’t think it looks like a child has made it now!!

One of the best new tools I have discovered – thank you Stampin’ Up! – is the Big Shot Die Brush, which makes using the Bloomin’ Hearts thinlits a doddle!

It’s great for getting all those tiny pieces out of the die cut without having to sit and poke them through individually with a pokey tool!

I highly recommend it! 🙂

Stampin’ Up! What I Love – Freshly Made Sketches #220

Stampin’ Up! What I Love – Freshly Made Sketches #220

Hey peeps, did you have a good weekend? They always seem to fly by don’t they? The boys were even moaning and saying weekends should be 3 days long! Lol! Well I’m back today and I’m entering my Stampin’ Up! What I Love thank you card into the Freshly Made Sketches #220 challenge. I’ve reversed the sketch, which I’m hoping is ok.

I made this card before I saw the sketch but I think it pretty much fits – other than the sketch is top and my card is bottom lol!

What do you think? I created a mask out of the post it notes which are sticky all over the back (they’re so handy. I really need to find some bigger ones too as I only have the small ones). After I had stamped in Basic Black Archival Ink I coloured the flowers with some Winsor & Newton drawing inks that I had stumbled across, in a cupboard, when I was looking for something else! Needless to say I didn’t actually find what I was looking for, but I had fun with the inks anyway. Lol!
