Birds & Blooms by Stampin’ Up!

Birds & Blooms by Stampin’ Up!

I have a really weird “Déjà vu” about this card! I’ve been wanting to use one of the smaller bird framelits from Birds & Blooms by Stampin’ Up! as I think it is soooo cute! And so as  I was playing around making something else, I just grabbed the thinlits. And I cut out the cutie bird from Melon Mambo card stock that I had handy!

I also had the card front lurking around in my basket of unfinished projects. Yes I had gotten as far as putting on the washi tape and sliver of Silver glimmer paper before I ran out of steam. Anyway, I love the combination of Night of Navy and Melon Mambo already on the card, so I simply stuck on 3 of the birds I had cut out and slapped it onto a Night of Navy Card base. I love the little bird on the left facing the other way. It’s a really simple, but cute card. And I just can’t shake the feeling I’ve seen it somewhere before, hence the “Déjà vu” feeling. I searched Pinterest but I couldn’t find one similar so maybe it’s just my imagination. If not please do let me know, won’t you?

Thanks x

Woodland Embossing Folder from Stampin’ Up!

Woodland Embossing Folder from Stampin’ Up! ®

Well this isn’t really a sneak peek as the Woodland Embossing Folder from Stampin’ Up! was around in the last Autumn/Winter catalogue. It retired when the catalogue ended but did you know that Stampin’ Up! have made the unprecedented decision to bring it back in the upcoming annual catalogue? It doesn’t usually happen when an item retires, but apparently it was very popular and so they decided to bring it back – which is great as I for one love it. I have a few more ideas for this embossing folder but here’s one that was inspired by a kitchen makeover, that I saw on a home improvement programme on TV lol!

The made-over kitchen walls had been painted a lovely sky blue and one end had a feature wall with a butterfly and birch tree printed wallpaper! It instantly made me think of the Woodland Embossing Folder and my butterfly stamps and punches.

This card was really quick to make:

  1. Stamp the butterflies from Kinda Eclectic onto Whisper White card stock (10cm x 14.3cm);
  2. Run the panel through the Big Shot using Woodland Embossing Folder;
  3. Heat emboss the sentiment on Dapper Denim and cut to a banner. Staple to the card front;
  4. Adhere the card front to a Soft Sky card base;
  5. Stamp some extra butterflies onto scrap card stock and punch out using the Bitty Butterfly Punch. I used Daffodil Delight and Dapper Denim ink pads.

So what do you think? Pretty? The wall paper in the programme was lovely but there’s no way my husband would go for it, so I’ll just have to settle for the card! 😂

Thank You Cards for #GDP027

Thank You Cards for #GDP027

The theme for this week’s challenge over at Global Design Project is Thank You! The design team have personally picked one of the regular participants to receive the cards they have made for the Design Team Inspiration and I am absolutely blown away that the fabulously talented Teneale Williams picked me! Her card is fantastic and she went to so much effort, checking out my blog to use the colours from my header in her card. Here is her fantastic card! Don’t you just love it? Head over to Global Design Project website to check out all the other Design Team projects and the participants entries too!

GDP027 Thank you

Now for my own entry this week. There couldn’t be a better challenge for me as I make so many Thank You cards anyway so the cards I have made will be put to good use by going to my lovely customers! I had a couple of background panels lurking in my unfinished projects basket that I have been wondering what to do with. I loved the backgrounds a lot so wanted them to be a large part of the card and not be hidden in the …..well background lol! As I just got the Botanical Builder Framelits, I decided to use those. I just love these flowers so much!

I sponged a combination of Melon Mambo around the edges and Pink Pirouette in the middle before splashing with drops of water to get the bokeh effect for this card. My original idea was to have the flowers and leaves as one tone, using Pink Pirouette, but it was so much pink, I broke out in hives lol! Now this is my favourite of the two!

This card is much softer and I do like the white on white of the flowers and leaves. The background is sponged in an ombre effect with Pink Pirouette and Blushing Bride.

What do you think? Which one do you prefer?
